SILT patch is now released
We’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has dived into the depths of SILT, and an extra thanks to everyone who has left us a review. Your feedback is really helpful to us, and we’ve been able to make a number of improvements to the game because of it, including…
New gameplay enhancements
A new patch has been released this week which solves issues with the possession mechanic, includes a screen-mode option to graphics settings menu, and much more. Click here to view the full patch notes.
Steam reviews are REALLY helpful
If you get the chance, a review would be awesome. We have been taking all your comments on board, and it’s been great to hear about your experiences with SILT. This is our debut game so feedback is really useful, so do let us know how you got on in the abyss. Thanks!
Hi everyone, just a quick update on the new patch we've released today. The patch includes:
NEW FEATURES
Added screen-mode option to graphics settings menu. Allows full-screen exclusive or full-screen windowed modes.
BUG FIX
Fixed a bug where the diver taking damage at the same moment they exit a level could cause the game to hang.
Fixed a bug that caused unexpected behaviour when the diver died while holding the possession button.
SPOILER FIXES
Gameplay & Balancing Improvements
Removed one of the three bobbit worms in Chapter 4, Scene 2 (Bobbit Tunnels 1). This makes the puzzle solution more straightforward to execute once the player has figured it out, giving the player more room to safely manoeuvre creatures through that area.
Removed and repositioned some of the jellyfish mines in Chapter 4, Scene 4 (Chasm). This makes the traversal of this room slightly more forgiving and less frustrating.
Prevented a soft-lock that could occur in Chapter 4, Scene 7 (Nursery 2) where the player could be trapped in the bottom area of the plant nursery when the light tentacle is damaged.
Quality-of-life
Tweaked possession behaviour so that it never targets the creature the player is currently in control of. This helps in situations where the player is trying to possess in a tight space, such as the elevator switches in chapter 3, and should reduce frustrating “mis-possessions”.
Thanks for your feedback!
5 Tips for Surviving SILT, Out Tomorrow!
We’re really excited to finally say that SILT is diving onto Steam tomorrow, and we can’t wait for you to experience the underwater void. To help you as you begin your journey into the harrowing world of SILT, here’s a few hints on how to safely proceed through the abyss.
Stay in the light - if you can...
Darkness surrounds you in SILT, so you never know what’s waiting for you up ahead. Keep your torch switched on and use the glow of the organisms around you to keep an eye on what’s lurking in the waters...
Use the environment to your advantage
While it’s a good to assume the worst of the living things that occupy the waters, some might be able to lend a helping hand. For example, some plants you can use to solve puzzles, and a variety of critters can be possessed. See what you can interact with, but always have an escape route planned…
Expect the unexpected
SILT is full of surprises, and not everything is as it seems. This ocean is like no other, so be prepared for some strange encounters.
Get to know the creatures
Different creatures have different abilities, and these will help you progress throughout the game. Some friendlier than others, these marine menaces can get you out of some tricky situations.
Approach Goliaths with caution
This hint is probably self-explanatory. If you see giant jaws, it’s best to keep your distance.
SILT is launching tomorrow, so grab your diving suit and get ready to explore the waters! To keep up to date with the latest SILT news, you can follow us on Twitter @SiltGame, TikTok @Silt_Game, or Instagram @spiralcircusgames.

As part of Steam Next Fest, our demo is live and ready for you to play!
There’s still time to explore the dangerous waters of Silt, so if you haven’t already, here’s some of the creatures you’ll find weaving through the darkness in your playthrough.
Tunnel Snakes
Tip: If you start getting chased, you’ll want to kick those flippers and swim as fast as you can.
Blockhead
If you’re approached head on by one of these, there’s a pretty certain chance you won’t survive. But they are very handy at clearing paths, so it’s worth possessing these powerful critters.
Scissorfish
These snappy creatures can free you from some sticky situations. Small and feisty, you’ll find these piranha-type fish waiting to lend a hand throughout the demo.
Goliath
Approach with great caution. This hungry Goliath is waiting patiently in the dark, so keep your eyes peeled.
Play the demo before the 28th February
Steam Next Fest comes to an end on the 28th, so if you’d like to check out the mysteries of Silt’s underwater void, make sure you do so before then!

Bizarre creatures, surreal surroundings, and a mysterious oceanic void… All elements that create a harrowing underwater adventure. But how did Silt come to be? Our 2D horror puzzler has been inspired by phobias, games, and even Beatrix Potter. Keep scrolling to find out more!
Fear of the deep
If you’ve ever experienced thalassophobia, there’s a chance you may find Silt’s oceanic abyss mildly terrifying. Our game artist, Tom Mead, channelled his fear of open water and deep underwater spaces to create an eerie and unnerving environment for the diver to explore.
Brilliant indie adventure titles
Notable games such as Limbo, Inside, Little Nightmares, and Samorost 3 played a big part in inspiring the Spiral Circus team to bring Tom’s artwork to life. These unique and atmospheric visuals reflect the creepy narratives of these games perfectly, which has influenced the creation of Silt from the very beginning.
Beatrix Potter
This may sound obscure, but the main influence of Tom’s art style is in fact Beatrix Potter. From being scarred as a child watching the animals dressed as humans prancing around, this fuelled the idea for many of Tom’s characters over the years.
Can you survive the void?
Silt is coming to Steam early 2022. To keep up to date with the latest announcements, and to find out more about the origin story of Silt, follow Spiral Circus on Twitter here. A peculiar adventure soon awaits...

How a 2D Surreal Artist Got Into Game Development - The Art & Process of Making Silt
The story of how Spiral Circus came to be might not be a unique one but it is an inspiration to all who one day wish to make their own game. Tom Mead will share the story of Silt’s development leading to signing with a publisher, and how an artist who never thought would make a video game had to learn the process.
If you haven’t got your EGX London tickets yet, you can find out more about the event and pick one up HERE.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
