Weekly Devlog #13 - 11/22/2022

Hey there, folks!

First off, we’re excited to announce that Silverblood is officially a registered trademark of Tidehead Studios LLC! The trademarking process has been a little over a year in the making, and it honestly feels a bit surreal!

Art & Design

  • The art assets for our new demo are almost complete, barring a few additional sprite variants for Edith and Colette!
  • As a small note: character emote animations won’t be making it into the first iteration of the demo, but they are still planned for the full release.


Narrative

  • More editing passes are waiting pending the prologue’s full implementation into the engine.
  • This also includes sensitivity reader(s) and QA!


Technical

  • We had a very productive meeting this week!
  • We identified some fixes to the current build, and have confirmed that we’re still well on track for the December release of the new demo!


Promotional Content

  • Released a new installment of Carraway’s Travelogue! Carraway has a curious visitor… Where has she seen them before?
  • Released another lore post!


Con+Alt+Del

  • Ordered prints to sell at our booth in Artist’s Alley!
  • Our artist Vextera will be taking live commissions at our booth–stop by for some on-the-spot art!


Implementation is currently the name of the game, folks. Things are coming together, and we can’t wait to show you!

The dev team is still working towards the release of our new demo at Con+Alt+Del! We’ll have an assortment of CUTE new merch (and some freebies!) available at our booth in Artist Alley.

We’ll sign off this week with a few more sneak peeks of some beautiful game art we’ll be debuting at the convention!

Weekly Devlog #4 - 8/30/2022

Hey, all! Vextera here with Tidehead Studios’ weekly devlog!

We’re coming close to the end of accumulating all the standard art assets needed for the prologue–all that’s left is one background and a series of character overlays for certain cutscenes!

Admin & Workflow

  • Began prepping for QA rounds & planned a meeting.


Art & Design

  • Completed another new sprite: Leo!
  • Designed the new ceremonial regalia worn by the Coven during the revised ritual in chapter 1!
  • Finished Colette’s new sprite expression sets and prepped her to be loaded into the engine.
  • Revised Lorelei’s base sprite for story needs; completed the expression sets and prepped her new sprite to be loaded into the engine.
  • Revised Cassia’s base sprite for story needs.
  • Revised and restructured the original Laithe sprite; added her expression set; prepped her for load into the engine.
  • Started revising and restructuring the original Sylvia sprite.
  • Began work on two new environments!
  • Began work on three additional sprites: Theodora, Solana, and Henry!


Narrative

  • Made notes for changes to a scene near the end of the prologue.
  • Music & Sound
  • Listened to Kija work on the new ritual song live on Stream!


Technical

  • Worked more on getting the UI established!
  • Built a custom shader tool to support some of our unique sprite layering needs.
  • Updated files on the Edith sprite and made some new expression prefabs.


Promotional Content

  • Released another installment of Carraway’s Travelogue, complete with one of our new banners!
  • Released our weekly Silverblood universe lore post!
  • Began prepping two videos, coming soon to a post near you!


Merch

  • The t-shirts came in!
  • Screenprinting got pushed back due to a number of issues, but we’re looking at starting next week instead. We’ll post when we have a clean test shirt available!

Weekly Devlog # 3 - 8/23/2022

Hey, all! Vextera here with Tidehead Studios’ weekly devlog!

Things are moving along at a great speed.

Admin & Workflow

  • Welcomed a brand new artist to the Silverblood team!
  • Revised the template for our casting call cards. (It’s coming…)


Art & Design

  • Finished a brand new environment (coming soon to a post near you)!
  • Finished 1 new full sprite: Grace!
  • Finished 2 new base sprites, pending an outfit change and expression sets: Cassia and Lorelei!
  • Began working on the rest of the sprites seen in the brand new prologue!
  • Refined some aspects of our new UI. (Check our latest sneak peek for details!)
  • Sketched a plan for the new title screen image.


Narrative

  • Continued restructuring Chapter 1.
  • Reviewed the outline for Chapter 2, added notes to extend one specific scene.
  • Refined plans for addressing Edith’s gender identity.


Music & Sound

  • Had another meeting with the composers!
  • Continued work on the main theme and ritual theme! (Yes–not only is the ritual itself getting rewritten, but it’s getting its own song as well!)

Technical

  • Solidified the process for adding sprites into the engine and creating variant prefabs.
  • Created the full Edith base sprite with pose changes and full range of facial features.
  • Looked into sprite animations such as blinking and certain emotes.
  • Established the structure needed for cutscenes/cinematics!
  • Did testing with parallax backgrounds in certain scenes.
  • Began loading the brand new ui into the engine!


Promotional Content

  • Started working with a new artist to create environment banners for Carraway’s Travelogue!


Merch

  • Created a secret new design for a tansel tee!
  • Ordered t-shirts–we’ll begin screen printing this week!
  • Looked into additional options for new stickers.

Devlog Week #2

8/16/2022

Hey, all! Vextera here with Tidehead Studios’ weekly devlog!

We made a lot of progress this week, especially in the art department! Here’s what happened this week:

Admin & Workflow

  • Began looking into options for prints and stickers for Con+Alt+Delete in December, which we’ll be attending to promote Silverblood!
  • Established a new weekly feature for Patreon: Carraway’s Travelogue!
  • Updated the Tidehead Studios website and gave Silverblood its own section.
  • Began working on the Characters section on the website.
  • Began constructing a Carraway’s Travelogue section on the website.


Art & Design

  • Finished an environment for the very first scene (a cinematic!) in the brand new prologue!
  • …On that note, started storyboarding the first cinematic in the prologue!
  • Started a new environment for Whiterock Village, a location featured in the new prologue!
  • Continued work on the UI, which includes drafts of the menus and a layout for choices and an animation!
  • Drafted sketches for new sprites of Edith’s fellow acolytes. (They’re getting speaking roles and need to face the camera!)
  • Started drafting a cinematic for the Ritual in Chapter 1.


Narrative

  • Began restructuring Chapter 1 based on adjustments made by adding the new prologue.
  • Drafted two specific scenes for Chapter 1.
  • Completely revised the Ritual that Edith and the girls must complete to hear their prophecies from the Grandmatron.


Promotional Content

  • Posted our first Carraway’s Travelogue, a weekly short story documenting a writer’s adventures in the Silverblood universe!
  • Finished a character illustration of Carraway.
  • Reached out to an artist to assist with additional visual content for Carraway’s Travelogue.


…And a few other things that we’ll be keeping secret for now. ;)
