Demo Deactivation & Tasks Ahead
Thanks to all of you who played the demo. I got a lot of feedback and I feel like it is time to get the nose back to the grindstone. Here are some of the big tasks I want to tackle:
More Upgrades. I want this to be an upgrade heavy game. I want to make choosing the right upgrades and thinking about upgrade synergies a big part of this game.
Get more personality into DotPeople. Right now they are mostly static props teleporting around. I want them to have some personality. I'm currently playing around with the idea of creating a movement flow system which will enable DotPeople to smoothly fill in gaps in waiting lines and make them pair up and walk up to their designated station upon spawn. In short: I want them to seem more like people in the way they move/behave.
I'm also thinking about adding in rush-hours with heavy load. These rush-hours might occur periodically (like in real life) and are probably followed by a short period of light load to give the player time to recover.
In order to really get back into dev-mode 100% I decided to deactivate the demo for the time being. I hope I will be able to reactive the demo in a couple of months and present you with a much more advanced/improved version of Simple Trains.

Balancing Update

I just uploaded a new demo build. Here are the biggest changes:
Balanced station spawn mechanic for better experience
Balanced income per passenger delivered for better experience
I really want to add a switcheroo station upgrade (switch any two stations). This is very high on my TODO list and hopefully will get added before the Steam Next Fest starts.

Updated Demo Build
First off, Thanks to all of you out there who played the demo. Thanks to you, I was able to improve some major flaws concerning the leaderboard. Here's what I did:
- Fixed the leaderboard Range. Due to a bug, the leaderboard only showed the Top 5, when what I really intended to do was to show entries around the players rank. I fixed this and it now works as intended. - Show the players leaderboard entry bold and in a different color. - Improve leaderboard loading times. - Fixed small bug where a default tooltip was visible for 1 frame only on startup.
Demo Released!
After about a year of development I am finally able to share an early demo of Simple Trains!
Simple Trains is still very much a work in progress. There are a lot of things I want to add and features I want to experiment with. But the current build is solid. Solid enough to throw it out there. Hope you'll enjoy it.
