SiNKR is fully compatible with the Steam Deck and uses a native Linux build. SiNKR 2 is currently Steam Deck Verified so I expect all three SiNKR games to eventually be verified as well since they all share the same input DNA.
Patch Notes for version 1.7.5
Changes
- SiNKR 3 backport update correction for the ratcheter (rotating cog) rotation indicator arrow direction. The level solution did not change but the arrow direction made no sense, it was pointing in the opposite direction of rotation. - Engine update to collect upstream bug fixes and enhancements
SiNKR Multi-Step Undo, Level Diagrams, Control Mapping
Hey Everyone,
I pushed a big update to SiNKR today with changes backported from SiNKR 3! Multi-step undo is the biggest one, followed by new level diagrams in the the level selector.
If you need an excuse to replay SiNKR, my suggestion is to play the game in portrait mode. The levels will automatically rotate 90 degrees. See photo below. The simple rotation slows me down and I get to reinvent the same (or different) solution. Give it a try and let me know, is is just me that finds the rotation a challenge? BTW, this trick also works on SiNKR 2 and 3.
Here is the full change list:
Multi-step undo including undo past level failure and level reset
Add level diagrams for unlocked levels to level selection menu
Keyboard and controller mapping, including new bindings for next level `N` and previous level `B`
Engine updates bring UI refinements, color grading, and dithering
All of these changes have also been ported to SiNKR 2
Level Diagrams
For unlocked levels
Playing Level 35 in Portrait
Try playing in a windowed portrait aspect for a refreshed experience, the level rotates 90 degrees
SiNKR 3 has a wishlistable page, backports incoming!
SiNKR 3 is the culmination of the SiNKR minimalist puzzler series. It offers a new slant on the familiar contraptions with new diagonal layouts, billiards-style physics and BY PLAYER DEMAND: multi-step undo. The new undo functionality will even let you undo accidental level resets and allows for banking your progress on the toughest puzzles.
The game will have a short demo available during the October 2021 Steam Next Fest with a full release shortly after that. The original SiNKR and SiNKR 2 will be receiving backports of the new multi-step undo and other quality of life improvements sometime this year.
If you have any questions or comments, feel free to post them in the brand new SiNKR 3 Steam forums. Thanks!
SiNKR 2 out now with bundle discounts for SINKR owners
Finally! SiNKR 2 is out. Thanks for your patience. I've arranged bundle discounts for owners of the original SiNKR (and a sale for prospective SiNKR owners) so that now will be the most economical time to pick up SiNKR 2. It will be a long time before sale discounts and stacking bundle discounts combine for this price. Thanks for all the support and hope you enjoy the game.
I'll be showing SiNKR 2 at PAX East in Boston March 28-29, 2019. This will be the final public showing of SiNKR 2 before release (soon after PAX). If you are in Boston for PAX, please stop by the booth and have a play, I'm always up for feedback. This is all pretty exciting for me. Please wishlist here if you haven't already. It is a big help. Thanks!:
I'm still tweaking and adding levels to SiNKR 2 but took a small break to pull back some of the enhancements and added a 7 level bonus pack to the original SiNKR. The bonus pack has a minor new mechanic I call 'Squircles' for 'square circles'.
SiNKR Changes
- 7 bonus levels added. You can play the bonus levels without having finished the game.
- Hook travels faster when the reel is held down and hook changes direction
- Minor bug fixes and updates to the contraption and line looks
- Engine update
- Trading Cards (added in January)
SiNKR 2 is still coming soon but I can't give a firm date. Please wishlist SiNKR 2 if you are interested in playing the sequel. Wishlisting really helps, thanks!
It took a bit of time but cards are now approved and should be dropping.
I'm still tweaking and adding levels to SiNKR 2. I plan to backport some of the enhancements to SiNKR and add a small free level pack with a new mechanic to the original SiNKR that should come out in a couple of weeks.
SiNKR 2 is coming this winter and I've just published a Steam page. It is super important for visibility on Steam to have a healthy sized wishlist before launch, if you would, please add the game to your wishlist. Your continued support really makes a huge difference, thank you all!
SiNKR 2 uses the same contraptions as the original SiNKR but has a bunch of polish, more levels than the original, and a new optional level selection grid allowing multiple paths to complete the game. There are crickets in the new SiNKR 2 community forum, if you have any questions, feel free to post them there or here in the comments below.
