We have scattered 13 candy canes throughout Slender: The Arrival for a limited time. Finding them gives you a chance to be drawn for a Steam Wallet Code! Here's how it works:
- You find all 13 candy canes and take a screenshot of each one
- Send your screenshots with descriptions to contests@blueislestudios.com
- We'll enter you in for a draw
- On December 28th, we'll end the contest and announce winners.
Technical Issues:
We bring to you a fix for the majority of your spinning or mouse sensitivity issues.
Secondly, for those of you receiving issues with lighting, we're still waiting on Unity. The issue can be found here: http://issuetracker.unity3d.com/issues/deferred-lighting-doesnt-work-on-intel-hd-graphics
Possible Workaround: Adding this flag "-force-d3d11" in the advanced launch options for the game in the steam client should make it run again.
This forces the unity engine the game to run in direct x 11 which appears to work fine with the new drivers and the Intel HD graphic cards.
Another possible workaround is to add the flag "-force-opengl" in the advanced launch options. Some users are mentioning performance gains.
We'll keep you updated, for now we've placed a disclaimer regarding Intel HD graphics on our store page.
Patch 1.5.3
Hey Guys,
In this latest fix we address some issues with our Steam Cloud integration. We've compressed several save files transferring between client-> server into a single file updated at game start/end.
Those who are still getting black screens at the beginning due to the Achievements string bug should be able to play normally with no adjustment made on your part.
As always, we will continue to observe and collect information for our next in-progress patch. We were hoping to bring our game to you on the newest version of Unity but unfortunately they have a number of issues to work out on their end before that will be possible.
Cheers! :)
Patch 1.5.2
Hey Guys,
It's time for another batch of fixes. Expect more soon, but here's what we have for now:
-Version number has been corrected from 1.6 back to 1.5
-Fixed a problem where gaining an achievement could cause the game to improperly start up
-Fixed a problem where some of the game times were not being recorded on "Easy"
-Fixed a problem where our standalone license key system leaked into the steam build. The player should now be able to play in offline mode with no issues
-Fixed a bug where incomplete games would show up as completed on "Easy"
-Fixed a problem with "Into the Abyss" not recording players times
-Fixed a number of issues related to players being unable to get the "I'm Free" achievement
----
Issues on our minds which we currently have no ETA for:
-A few players are unable to get any lighting in their game
-Some machines with good hardware appear to be running poor frame rates on windows 8 and 8.1. While we do not support Windows 8 at this time and can make no promises, this is something we are looking into.
-Leaderboard times are not fully representing time taken to complete a level/game, making it seem shorter than it actually is.
Patch 1.5.1
Hey Guys,
Wanted to get a few critical fixes out for you before the weekend.
Here they are:
-Steam Cloud no longer kills local progress if local progress is greater. This means your progress should no longer be lost ever.
-Achievements are added to a queue. If the game fails to connect or message an achievement earned to steam, the game will remind steam on quit and on load of all achievements the user has gained.
-Debug is now turned off by default on game launch. This ensures that users do not get confused when achievements are not earned.
-Fixed an ability to exploit leaderboards with impossibly low scores.
-Fixed a couple leaderboards that were not properly populating with data.
-Adjusted sensitivity of joystick input. This will hopefully alleviate any issues with 3rd party controllers causing the player to spin in circles.
Your game should automatically update, but if it doesn't, you can simply restart steam. We'll update you soon when we have more fixes available.
