Sorry to keep you waiting, for we usually release on Friday and today is Sunday... and yet, we haven't really kept you waiting, since this wasn't supposed to be a release week. We decided to break the release plan and push a new build a bit earlier, to fix a few bugs and address a couple of minor things related to button prompts and languages. As such, we dubbed this release "Fix Tape"!
All screens now show button prompts for both controllers and keyboard (https://trello.com/c/Vy3jYuQn/94-keyboard-button-prompts)
Added German, and revised Spanish translations
Changes:
Fixed a stupid bug we added in the last build (https://trello.com/c/cpYBw1VD/43-match-doesn-t-start-when-playing-without-ai)
Improved tutorial to clarify things (https://trello.com/c/u2923sVf/42-tutorial-refers-to-the-crates-but-there-s-only-one-crate)
See you next Friday for a new build!
New build B04 - "The Penguin" is live!
A new build, B04 codename "The Penguin", just went live. The biggest news is: we have Linux support now!
Building for Linux from Unity was smooth as silk (thanks Unity Technologies!), the only issue was a bit of fighting with Linux libraries. But, we came through as victorious! So enjoy the game, because it runs super smooth!
(this being the game in motion on Vine)
Besides this, you'll find just a few changes which might seem minor for now, but they're paving the way for bigger stuff.
Basically we just reworked all menus to be slightly smaller, to accommodate more options as the come in the next updates.
New:
Linux platform (https://trello.com/c/Ia6k0oQX/46-linux-build)
Added Spanish localisation
Changes:
All menus are now translated (https://trello.com/c/Icim357s/93-translate-all-menus-part-1)
Improved in-game menu (https://trello.com/c/fw3w7hTN/90-better-menus-during-match)
As always, if you want to contribute with translations (we need everything except Italian and Spanish), please get in touch!
So yeah, this is it for now... but expect more news (and maybe more frequent updates) in the coming week!
Hasta pronto!
New build B03 - "The Core" is live!
Hey everyone!
The heat of summer is on us, you’ve probably gone to gamescom (or maybe not) and as we move towards the peak of August, FATAL ERROR update "B03: The Core" is live. And this one is called “The Core” for a reason.
You know FATAL ERROR’s core gameplay is based on deception and “hiding” on the same screen. Until now, we only had one mechanic: the Transport System (the purple holes that teleport you on the conveyor belts in the form of a compacted robot). This update introduces not only one, but two new ones: the Doppelganger (on Trello) and the Invisibility (on Trello)!
The Doppelganger is activated by a green plate you step on, and as soon as you do, a clone of your character is created. The clone is identical to your robot, and it mirrors its movements along an axis (depending on the stage, sometimes it's vertical, sometimes horizontal). The clone is vulnerable and can't kill nor take the Database, but you can use it to confuse your enemies and make them feel under attack when in reality... you're somewhere else.
The name of this mechanic comes from the German word Doppelgänger, which represents "a clone that looks and moves in the same way".
As for the Invisibility, it's what it sounds: step on a blue plate, and your robot will became nearly invisible as long as he doesn't shoot or dies. When you shoot, you become visible again. The robot is never 100% invisible, and players with a keen eye might be able to spot invisible opponents.
(psst: we have a million changes in mind related to these mechanics already, graphic adjustments, AI refinements, and whatnot, but they're going to come in the next update!)
Along with these new powers, we have created 3 new stages (2 Solo stages and one 2v2) taking advantage of the new mechanics: Dungeon, Bloodbath and Construction Yard, upping the stage number to 9 now!
We have started the process of translating the game. We only have English and Italian right now, but we're going to implement French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Swedish, and (probably) Norwegian, Russian, Polish, and Finnish as soon as possible. We are going to crowdsource the translations, so if you want to help us in the translation or know someone who does, drop us an email at info [at] fatalexcerror [dot] com. We will give you (or your friend :D) one or more copies of the game as a thank you, and obviously put your name in the credits of the game.
Apart from this, there's always a plethora of minor changes and fixes, which you can find in the Build description on Wunderlist, but here's a recap:
[Claimed fixed]Sometimes the Orb is spawned twice per match (more..)
Please, play the game with us and tell us whether you like or not the new mechanics and the new stages, and what would you change. As always, your feedback is gold!
Enjoy FATAL ERROR responsibly!

New build B01 - "Quick Fox" is live!
We have just put online a new build, a quick update after yesterday's release nicknamed "Quick Fox".
The biggest introduction is the possibility for player 1 to play with a keyboard and a mouse. We also shuffled the options around a little bit, and they all save for the next session.
We listened to your feedback (we promised, remember?) and we made the AI a bit dumber, but we also offered the ability to choose from 3 difficulty levels.
This is the full list of changes:
New:
Keyboard always active in the menus
Player1 can optionally play with a keyboard/mouse
Control schemes are explained in the Controls menu
Many settings are stored (audio levels, controls, graphics) between sessions
AI has 3 different difficulty levels, which can be chosen
Changes:
Implemented performances whenever bots were present in-game
Flying Drone projects a purple light, so it doesn't feel like it's associated to the green player
Many small fixes here and there (see https://trello.com/b/fo6bDn4z/fatal-error-bug-tracking)
Hope you enjoy this update!
Early Access is A-GO!! (+ Videos)
Good news, everyone: FATAL ERROR is now live on Steam!
Please get it while it's hot, and help us shape it with your feedback!
For those of you who missed it, we posted a small trailer yesterday:
https://youtu.be/UvIlYXc8Aac
In the video you can hear part of one of the fantastic tracks ("Lé Saboteur") by our composer Joakim. The soundtrack is really great, personally I'm in love with the menu theme!
Here's also a video of gameplay, from the three stages we have for now:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7RmR8nnXDrw
This time the background track is called "Brawl at the Ironworks". See how in the last 30 seconds it goes up in rhythm? Those are the seconds where everything can happen!
Hopefully the videos will give you a clear idea of what the game is about, and how fast-paced it is.
So please, get the game, play it with your friends, and leave us suggestions and comments in the Discussions! Hope you will enjoy FATAL ERROR!

It's almost time for Early Access!
Hey everyone!
We have worked very hard these past months, and FATAL ERROR has transitioned from being "a nice prototype" to a real project with a real schedule!
As FATAL ERROR was born in game events, and especially under a heavy barrage of player feedback, we decided that the most natural way to develop it was to continue with this process.
Because of this, we have chosen to release the game in Early Access so you can have a peek at the development as we work towards the full release. We want players to be part of the process, and we have setup many tools to gather player feedback and be as transparent as possible during the coming months.
In short, there's a board on Trello to see all the features that are in the making, one for the bugs (pretty empty, eh? we're the best developers in the world), and a Roadmap of future milestone builds with a rough list of the features that each one will contain.
You can find all the details here. Also check the Early Access description on the game page for more info.
So hang tight for a week, 'cause FATAL ERROR will be available on the 13th of June 2015. In the meantime, you can follow it by using the Follow feature on the game page.
