Snow Fortress

Update 0.6 Released with Online Multiplayer

Our latest update features something that everyone has been asking for since day one: Multiplayer!

This is our first and very early beta release of the multiplayer features so expect some bugs and please let us know your feedback. The multiplayer offers just a simple 1v1 match against a random opponent or against your Steam friends.

Select a game type (Quick Match or Find Friends) in the multiplayer menu and once you have 2 players each player has to pull their lever to set their ready state.

To invite a friend, select them from the friends list in the multiplayer lobby menu and press their checkmark icon to send the invite. Your friend will need to have the game running and have the lobby menu open to receive the invite. To accept it they can do so from the Steam overlay dashboard while in VR (just press the system button on either controller to enter the Steam overlay). Once they accept the Steam invite they will join your match.

Thanks everyone!

Stay tuned for more updates including the multiplayer features coming later in September!

Multiplayer Sneak Peek

One of the most requested features is real-time multiplayer so you can have snowball fights against your friends and other players. We've been hard at work adding this over the past few weeks and have some of the basics done. It's still has a long way to go to make it fully functional but it is coming this fall.

Here's a sneak peek video of multiplayer in Snow Fortress:

The mode will first be released as a 1v1 multiplayer where each player will have 60 seconds to build up their fort and then have a battle against each other until one player loses all their hearts. Eventually we plan to expand that to 4 players as well as coop modes, but that is probably a few months further down the line.

Update 0.53 Just Released

We've got a new update for Snow Fortress ready for you guys! The 0.53 update address a few small issues and adds a system for making it more difficult to knock down your own fort blocks by accident when building.

- Blocks now weigh less when you are holding them so they won't knock over your other blocks as easily. This is something we plan on tweaking so let us know if you feel it still needs adjustment.
- Adjusted snowball throwing in the snow fort mode so it matches survival mode which most people like better for the throwing mechanics.
- Small tweaks to block hit points system and setting of the block mass so they make more sense compared to their physical size.
- Fixed water bottle crazy explosion if destroyed.
- Under the hood adjustments to allow for easier expansion of future features.
- Bug fixes.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Update 0.52 Now Live

We've just launched the 0.52 update to Snow Fortress with some fixes and new features:

- FORT SAVING! In Snow Fort mode you can now restart any level with the fort as it was when the throwing stage starts (ie: When "GO" is shown on the screen). This is the first step in this implementation and currently saves just the last built fort. You'll see a new Restart With Saved Fort button whenever you die or win, or in the pause menu. This will cut the built time to just 10 seconds for any last minute adjustments you want to make and disable the block spawner so you can't keep adding blocks endlessly. We'd love to get feedback on this feature so let us know what you think and if you have any suggestions.
- SNOW GLOBES :) the level select menu now has snow globes for each of the levels, they still work the same way just look cooler
- New scoring system for Survival Mode, hits to a snowman are 25 points, snowman kills are 100 points
- Fixed powerup (question mark) blocks so they can show cracking like regular blocks
- New Sound FX when the fox is hit by a snowball
- New snowball whoosh sound, so you can hear snowballs whoosh past your hear :)
- Fixes to some sounds
- Bug fixes
- Memory performance improvements

Next Up:
We'll be working on adjusting the blocks so it's not as easy to knock over your own fort when building. Thanks for your support and please don't forget to leave a review :)
