Hey guys, this Ed ːkinghappyː I recently took the decision of making So Long Earth 100% free for a simple reason: I'm making new games! I know that i was supposed to improve and update So Long Earth, but this just isn't possible right now; Instead, i am developing and creating exciting new things that may or may not be of your taste.
If any of you are interested in that, you can join my Discord , where i'm very active and post daily updates of the things i'm working on And you can follow me on Twitch , where i stream weekly on Wednesdays at 4 PM (GMT-3) I also have a Facebook and Twitter pages, if that's your piece of cake. ːmincuriousː Thank you all for playing So Long Earth and i'll see you soon!
The Future, Survival Mode and Feedback
Hey guys! Happy 2017!
2016 was quite a year, wasn't it? Yeah... :mintired:
So before i say anything, i want to thank everyone that bought the game since it was released, you're the reason why i'm able to write this down to give you some satisfaction regarding making a significant update on the game and driving it forward to make something better
But before i talk about the future, let me talk a bit about:
The Past
You see, the development for this game started almost 3 years ago - as a small project with a few friends - but it turned out a little bigger than we expected. We developed this game with only three people during a period of 2 years non-stop to make something that we could call enjoyable.
This is how it first looked when we started
Given that, i wanna say that i hear you, and i hear your complaints: The controller is kinda unresponsive, the game is very unintuitive, the overall story is quite shallow and the game is repetitive.
And i agree. I couldn't agree more.
But you see, most of these fixes aren't easy to fix. The controller responsiveness is an engine issue, the story issue would require me to re-write the whole story and the repetitiveness would require more content which we can't afford.
I really hope you guys can understand that the lack of feedback and interaction with us is what tells me that people aren't interested in the potential this game has. And more so, the lack of sales tells me that i shouldn't invest time or money into making this a better game.
Okay, but why am i saying this?
Because there are many new people on board who seems to care about the game and what it can become.
And this is why i'm presenting an alternative for:
The Future
A survival mode. More specifically, a sandbox endless survival mode.
You mean like Don't Starve? Yeah but in a platformnessly way.
I think that this would allow me to create more content without relying too much on the story - which could be played normally if so desired.
And at the same time, develop a mode in which you have to use the planets you land on to craft stuff in order to survive.
This would, of course, come with a complete re-write of the game's code into a new, better, engine. Fixing all the problems related to controllers.
I would also revamp the game design with the things i learned since we launched the game.
Oh, and all of this for free for the people who already bought the game.
Sounds awesome, right?
So here's what i need: comments Yeah, just comment, right here.
Just a simple "yes" or "no" or maybe a suggestion about it.
All i need to know is that you wanna see the game you bought evolving, growing and becoming something better.
And again, thanks for making all of this possible.
Cheers!
Black Screen Bug
Hey guys!
Due to some really unfortunate events, there was a bug going on in which after you saved your first game it would load back in with a black screen with only the sound working.
This bug is now fixed and will teleport everyone back home once you log in
If you have any issues of any kind, please, let me know so that i can help you fix them.
Cheers!

Coming soon™ (But no really, a couple of days left)
Hey everyone! Edd here.
So its been a while - and a very rough one.
We've reached a state in which we can finally say: its coming soon!
How soon? A couple of days soon.
We are on the verge of final testings and once this is done, we will make the game available for everyone!
The first installations might be a little rough, so i will ask everyone who's willing to buy and play on the early access to be very patient. I will keep a thread like this one open on the group forums so you guys can give us feedback about everything: from art to code.
I guess its also worth saying that while on early access, the game will have a 30% discount on the launch week!
And another final thing i wanna say, is thank you!
Thank you so much for supporting us and for voting on the game.
So that's it! Thank you so much for going through this process with us, and soon enough we'll have a lot of fun playing this game!
