Solas 128

SOLAS 128 Is Currently 70% Off!

Hi all,

Just wanted to post a quick update to let you know that SOLAS 128 is on its deepest sale ever to celebrate being in the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase again this year! So, if you've been on the fence now is a great time to pick up the game!

Oh, and before I go, I should let you know that CRT7 (my upcoming game) has just released a massive new demo update focusing on improved QoL and accessibility. If you're interested, why not give it a try too and/or drop a wishlist – it makes a huge difference to games like mine, especially where it's mostly being made by one person!

As always thanks for all the support, and I hope you enjoy the puzzling!

SOLAS 128 and the CRT7 Demo are in the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase!

Hi all, Tom here!

Today is the official announcement of the 2023 Cerebral Puzzle Showcase which means I can say that both SOLAS 128 and CRT7 were selected to take part! I'm delighted and flattered to have both my games in this event, alongside 200+ other incredible thinky games.

SOLAS 128 will be discounted by 60% for the event (it's deepest discount ever) and CRT7 will be one of only 5 new demos debuting during the event, too!

Whether you like wordless exploration of an ancient interconnected neon machine, or exploring a dark basement full of weird corrupted retro machines, there is sure to be something you like here. Not only that, but it seems like the two games might even be connected somehow?

If you try either game during the showcase: thank you so much! I really hope you have fun!

New Game: CRT7 Demo Date Announced

Hi all, Tom here!

I'm delighted to say that I can finally announce a date for the upcoming demo of my new game, CRT7! The demo will be launching 3rd of August, as part of the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase! If you're interested, please wishlist it here:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2096780/CRT7/

What's more, I've made a special trailer to celebrate the announcement. I really hope you like it:

Solve puzzles / Explore the dark / Fix the future

The demo is somewhere between 1 and 3 hours long (depending how good you are at puzzles), and should give you a good idea of what to expect from the full game. A dark basement, mysterious puzzles, and a splintered narrative about obsession, power, and regret. It will also have an embedded guidance/hint system and accessibility options too.

Oh, and you better believe I hid some fun weirdness in there too...

I can't wait to see people playing it! Please bear in mind that this is a one-person solo project so bugs are always likely although I'm doing my best to squash them as we speak. But, as always, please do share the news, tell your friends, and wishlist the game - it's such a huge help!

It's running from April 24th to May 1st, and as always there is the demo for SOLAS 128 with all unique levels you can try first too! If you are lovely enough to pick it up, a review is always appreciated :purple_heart:

Oh, and if you've already played SOLAS 128 and are craving a more chill puzzle game with music at their heart, you can try Rtymos by our friends at Floppy Club:

Audio Award Winner!

Hey all, Tom here!

Just a small update to let you know that SOLAS 128 won the Audio award at the Scottish Games Awards a couple of weeks ago! (I've been recovering from all the travel, so been a little slow on updating things here)

Super happy for Steven on Sound Design, and Jamesy on Music – they've got something to show for putting up with my nonsense.

Oh, and a little reminder that if you like the soundtrack, you can get it here: https://jamesydownie1.bandcamp.com/album/solas-128-original-soundtrack

Now, back to work... keep safe and warm all!

Scottish Games Week Sale (and hints of new things)

Hey all, Tom here!

This week is the inaugural Scottish Games Week, and as some of you might know, SOLAS 128 was a game made by three of us based in Scotland so I'm dead excited to be involved! We've also been lucky enough to be nominated for three upcoming categories in the Scottish Games Awards (Best Small-Budget Game, Audio, and Creativity) and I thought it was an excellent time to celebrate with a small sale!

While I'm here, a little update that I've been working on a new game called CRT7. An early teaser Steam page is up if you'd like to find out just a little more, and perhaps wishlist it too:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2096780/CRT7/

If you like SOLAS 128 I suspect you might like this new mysterious puzzle game too when it is ready, and wishlists are a huge help for small developers like us! Either way keep warm, keep safe, and I hope you are having a good week too!

Hey all, Tom here!

We're genuinely thrilled (and a little bit honoured) to have been invited to join the Cerebral Puzzle Showcase showcase alongside so many other incredible games. To celebrate, SOLAS 128 is on sale for 50% off, so more people have the chance to explore its neon depths!

Also, don't forget, I'm going to be streaming from 18:00 BST (10:00 PDT/13:00 EST) for two hours tonight and tomorrow night right here on Steam! If you're reading this as it went live, I should be streaming right now. Do you think I can remember all the solutions? Erm...

If you do pick SOLAS 128 up, please do feel free to come join us in the Discord where there are plenty of people happy to give spoiler-free hints for the puzzles which lurk within.

Upcoming SOLAS 128 Developer Live Stream! (Pt. 2)

Hey all, Tom here again!

The second part of the two-night dev stream will start at 18:00 BST on the 20th of May. By this point I should be well into the really tricky puzzles, so I'm likely really starting to sweat. Will I be able to complete the entire game, including secrets, before I run out of time?

I guess only time will tell...

Upcoming SOLAS 128 Developer Live Stream!

Hey all, Tom here!

It is with a mixture of nervousness and excitement that I'm announcing I'm doing my first ever stream this Thursday and Friday (19th & 20th), from 18:00 BST (10:00 PDT/13:00 EST)! This is in honour of the upcoming Cerebral Puzzle Showcase, which I'm delighted to announce SOLAS 128 is a part of! We'll have a sale on to celebrate too.

Come and see whether almost 16 months after launch I can remember how to solve any of the puzzles I designed! I am definitely going to get stuck at least a few times... Don't forget that you can also opt-in to be reminded when the event starts, if you want to watch me sweat!

I'll be online both nights for a couple of hours, and I'd love for you to join me. This event is just for Thursday, and there is another one for Friday.

If we, unexpectedly, speed run through it, then I might drop some hints about the new game I'm working on, too!

BAFTA Scotland Game Winner!

Hey all, Tom here!

Our tiny team of three genuinely still can't believe it, but we were honoured to win the BAFTA Scotland Game 2021 award at a ceremony this weekend! Huge thank you to all the jury who voted for us, and again for all of you who have played SOLAS 128 and/or left us a review!

Yes, that's my hand, and I can confirm these things are heavy. Thank you all again, and I hope you continue to enjoy SOLAS 128 <3
