Important patch 1.1
Dear Community,
we are really happy with how you enjoy our game. You can’t believe how stressful it is to make such a game in just three developers. Every mistake, every decision, it’s all us to blame for, and for that reason, we are enormously committed to improving the game for you.
There was no time for celebration as we work nonstop to do the game justice it deserves.
This patch is a special one because apart from the fixes, listed below, we’ve just worked all the time to heavily improve the second part of the game. Our goal was to improve the overall experience and to seriously tighten the flow in the latter chapters and we strongly believe that we, despite the very short time, managed to do just that. We hope that this substantial change will put away the biggest issue, the game was suffering from after a launch.
Now for the other things, the patch does:
[critical]
Water power plant station - reload in the underground area might have caused a breaking bug
Reload after player drowned might have caused a breaking bug
In certain cases, the plank on the ground in the 1st chapter was not accessible
[improvements]
Global FPS cap added
You can now see the detail of all collectibles by clicking on them
[fixes]
Better collisions on the candle path in 2nd chapter
Fixed fairy tale icons upon discovery
Thank you very much for your support! It means the world for the three of us.
Hotfix 1.0.2
[Critical]
- Flower Sense consumed twice would prevent Daniel's movement - Locked one of the burning house doors where players could get stuck
[Fixes]
- You can now play the guitar in all available spots - Caption size change from the menu now reacts immediately - Adjusted climbing wall leading up to Cimburk Castle - Long readable document text properly exits upon the first right mouse button click
[Audio] - Adjusted adaptive volume when the Beast approaches.

A personal letter from Developers
Dear friends,
five years ago, our tiny indie developing duo decided to make something brave and also quite crazy. To tell you all a very personal tale set in our homeland. We wanted you to experience a contemporary story about father and his desperate search for his runaway daughter but also meet our local folklore and landmarks which served as our childhood stomping grounds. As you will soon find out, the game is to a certain extent about all of us. About our traits, fears but also about courage and acceptance.
We spent the last five years with extremely intense development, trying to cover up the fact, that we are just two lonely developers fighting against the general idea that it’s absolutely impossible to make such a vast game in just two people. We, of course, listened to those voices of concern and now we are three lonely developers.
You will soon embark upon your journey to experience a strange Daniel’s tale. This journey might take you maybe 15 or even 20 hours. There is a lot hidden in the game and those who seek will be rewarded.
To press the launch button requires courage. We have so many ideas which we would love to bring in the game, but somehow now is the time to let you play our game and see what we have prepared for you.
Despite our best efforts, in 15+ hours long game, created mainly by 3 people, there might be rough edges. We apologize as we tried our best to iron them out as much as possible. Please know, that we are very committed to fixing them, as soon as they rear their ugly head.
We just want to wish you a great experience and share mutual hope that you will find our tale captivating.

Release date changed due to Covid-19 complications
Today we don't bring the best news, but it could have been much worse, actually. Due to unforeseen consequences caused by COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lock-down, we are forced to shift the release date to the 5th of May 2020.
Having to make the decision to delay the launch of Someday You’ll Return has been very difficult for us at CBE Software. The beta testing of the game has gone great, the game is almost ready to be released and we were really looking forward to launching this month. However, there are some elements, including live studio recording sessions, that were just not possible with the current crisis which has set us back. The most important thing is that everyone stays safe and does everything they can to minimize exposure to COVID-19. While we’re disappointed to have to wait to bring you our game, the health and safety of everyone involved is paramount.
Originally we thought we would have to postpone the release until the situation gets better globally, possibly for months, but that is not the case. We worked really hard to secure modern organizational tools and technology to help us complete our recording sessions remotely. Luckily for us, we've been able to set up and implement these tools which has made the delay much shorter than originally feared. With these tools and the cooperation from our esteemed musicians. we are happy to be able to launch the game with only a minor delay.
Please, above all, stay safe and keep the social distance. We all together must help in this strange situation.
Thank you for your support. We are really grateful to have you all as our community!
