This is the team at KAMAi MEDIA, hard at work at "Sonder." with an incoming transmission. We have recently re-entered within communication range of Earth after our long journey of re-discovery, and this is the first message that we managed to get through.
We are not dead.
Several critical systems of "Sonder." have been reborn from the ashes of our playtests. You spoke and we listened, and we have improved much about how the game is played and experienced.
But it was not a small task - so it took some time. A critical update is on the way, and we will have more info in the coming days, as we utilize Jupiter's gravitational pull to map our final descent towards Earth.
Stay tuned, we will be overhauling our Steam page in preparation of our update, and a lot of things are changed and will change.
This is mission control at KAMAi MEDIA EM-RAIL commercial transport. Over & out.
Community involvement: Discord server is up!
Hello everyone,
We would like to invite anyone interested in discussing the game, discussing features, pros and cons, story and mechanics - to join us daily on our Discord server:
https://discord.gg/uf62rPE
Once you join, we have a friendly bot that takes you through a quick process of assigning you the appropriate roles and then you can join the conversation.
The entire devteam will be up on the server, and depending on their daily workload, they will join the discussion between 8:00 AM CET and 9:00 PM CET.
Hope to see all of you there!
New interaction selection mechanism
Since Sonder. has been out, a lot of the feedback had to do with the difficulty players faced when wanting to select interactions in the game, especially when there were lots of them on screen.
We have now addressed this feedback by implementing a visible indication of the cursor on screen and its behavior when selecting interactions. It is not a simple cursor on screen (it still requires a little getting-used-to), but it will allow the players to indicate to the game without any uncertainty which interaction they wish to select.
If you find the speed of movement of the cursor too slow or too fast, there is a "cursor speed" slider in the Settings menu that you may want to adjust.
Other improvements in this update are faster startup loading times and the normal additional content update.
If you were frustrated by the interaction selection mechanism before, we are looking forward to your feedback on this new, and improved version.
Look for a big content drop sometime next week. And as always, don't forget to spread the word about our game.
Build update (all known non-content glitches and bugs fixed)
Hello Time Lords,
We have updated our game with a new build with all known and reported glitches fixed - no more walking outside the ship, sorry :) All of the bugs reported by our playerbase have been addressed plus a sizable content drop has been added to the game.
We are working toward the completion of the back-end of the game which players experience once they resolve the initial situation (I am trying hard here to avoid any spoilers). There is more AI content as well in this build.
We have added a more complete settings menu with some of the controls that we deemed most important at this stage. More settings are incoming.
Also, starting next week we are beginning a more aggressive campaign to get the game in more people's hands. If you want to help, share info about our game and get more people to try it.
Build UPDATE: All known crash bugs fixed
Hello everyone,
We just published a new build update that has all crashes reported by our players fixed! As an added bonus, we have enabled the Settings menu, where you can find different options, most of them pretty basic - but unfortunately no option to "Run on command" :)
There is a major content update in this build as well. We spent a lot of time reading through feedback, watching streams on Twitch and reviewing YouTube videos. We improved a lot of the stuff that was confusing to you, and added new dialog options.
If you are still having problems with interaction selection, we have put up a brand new guide that should help you - check it out in the Guides section of our Community HUB.
As always, we want to hear what you guys think about the game - help us make the best version of this game possible.
We are working on another big content drop incoming this weekend, so - as always: tell your friends, help us get the word out about our game!
Large content update and most reported bugs fixed
Hello everyone,
We just pushed another update to Steam, with the first large content update (you will notice some new things on the ship). Thanks to the many bug reports we have gathered, we have addressed most of the problems plaguing early adopters.
Seeing how some people are struggling with the controls, this update brings a hint layer on top of the game, that will hopefully make it easier for newcomers (and existing players) to understand how they work. If the hint layer is annoying you and you want to turn it off, you can add the following line in the init.txt file in your local install folder:
:training_wheels 0;
The update also contains some dialog additions and tweaks, although the major new dialog content drop is planned for the end of this week.
We also have a few outstanding rare crash bugs - if you encounter any please send any *.dmp files you find in your local install directory to us at info@kamaikamai.com.
Settings are still incoming.
Have fun,
KAMAi MEDIA
First content bugs fixed
Hello everyone,
Thanks for all your feedback, videos, suggestions and criticism. Keep it coming!
This is our first update that contains content bug fixes. We have also fixed various bugs relating to the camera (including where you enter freecam after rewind). The "Saved your own skin" Achievement is now possible with both characters. Various machinery bugs (notably the doors sometimes refusing to open from the Cockpit control panel) have also been fixed.
One major fix is the fact that A NEW DIALOG is no longer automatically highlighted when it starts (the black band behind the dialog). That made it harder to choose interaction points so we removed it - to highlight the dialog now all you have to do is roll the mousewheel or use the dpad on the controller.
Hopefully this will make the selection of interaction points easier.
Resolution issues resolved
Hello everyone,
We just pushed a new update that fixes the resolution scaling issues on some computers. Let us know if someone is still experiencing issues after this update.
There are a few remaining issues that we are dealing with, most notably there is a bug that prevents the game from going into fullscreen on some dual-gpu laptops. We are working on a fix for this issue incoming tomorrow.
We are also hard at work getting the settings screen into the game, so that you can mess with your own video cards as you see fit. In the meantime, if you need vsync enabled, all you have to do is go to your local installation folder, find the file init.txt and write the following line in it:
:vsync_enable 1;
That should give you a tear-free experience. And as always, if you like the game (or even if you hate it), don't forget to post a YouTube video, an angry rant or tell a friend about it. Every little bit counts.
Updated build, hopefully all startup issues resolved
Hello everyone,
Thanks for the outpouring of support, and some really good and detailed feedback. We wish we did this a lot sooner, your help and insight is invaluable - keep it coming any way you want, Facebook, Twitter, email or just stop us on the street!
We have a new updated build with fixes for all startup crashes and hangs known to us. There was an issue on some dual-video-card systems which we have addressed, and we have also fixed the issues where the game would not enter fullscreen on some systems.
Meanwhile there have been some really cool gameplay videos up on YouTube - make sure you check them out. Don't worry about spoilers, most of the people haven't seen most of the game.

Launch day update ONE
Hello everyone,
Thanks for the great feedback so far. A number of people have reported crashes and we have the first update incoming that addresses all but one: If you have a problem where the game just hangs and does not launch, we have added more info for the log.txt file (in your installation folder) that should help us diagnose this problem better.
The update is live now!
If you get the update, you should still have the hang, but please send us the log.txt so we can get the additional information.
Thanks to everyone who is helping resolve this issue.
