Rollback to previous version

Hello everyone!

We had a small update a few weeks ago, it was a very small change, but we had 2 reports of the game randomly crashing after that update which seems to be related to the update.

So we're rolling back to the previous version which we know it was working properly and had no game-breaking problems.

Upon until we find what's the problem we'll keep this version live.

Thank you!

1.10 Update

We updated Sophstar to V1.10

It's using a newer Steam SDK, which may make the game run with less problems when using Linux (Including Steam Deck)

We also corrected a small bug where the incorrect frame animation would be used when the ship is re-entering the screen after exploding.

As usual, if you have any trouble with this version, just shout it out at our forum!

Version Update: 1.09

We updated the game to version 1.09

It just fixes a bug with the Score Attack mode, where sometimes when playing on the ORIGINAL Scoring Mode would make the Bonus Item not give the player any points.

Hope it didn't hurt many people hiscores.

Anyway, if you have any trouble with this version, let us know in our forum!

Version 1.08

We've updated the game to version 1.08.

We just fixed two small bugs:

  • Focus / Half speed movement didn't work while Nina's drone ship was deployed.
  • Banana Bytes logo animation during intro would speed up and loop if you hold left arrow key.

Keep having fun with the game, everyone!

Update 1.07

We've updated the game to 1.07 version. This was just some minor bug-fixes which apparently no one had noticed....

* Unlockables were being unlocked automatically before the condition to unlock then were met. If you get stuff unlocked before the right time, congratulations, consider it a bonus :)

* Online Leaderboards wasn't updating when changing difficulty on certain occasions.

If you have any problems with this version, just report them at the usual place:

Have fun!

1.06 Update

We've updated Sophstar to version 1.06.

Now there's a Training Mode! You can practice any levels you've beaten before, without worrying about running out of lives! (You always have 98 lives on Training Mode :D )

Unfortunately there was no way to get the progress you already had, so you'll have to beat the levels after the update to enable training mode on them.

You can also practice against just the bosses... even on their Hyper Mode! And they won't revert to normal mode if you die on training mode, so you can keeping practicing as long as you wish.

You can also hold Select on the gamepad or Backspace on the keyboard for a quick level restart.

Just select "Arcade Mode", then select "Training Mode" and good luck!

We tested this update enough to make sure there were no new bugs after implementing Training Mode, but if any slipped through us, please report at the usual thread and we'll try to fix it as fast as we can!

Linux version should be coming next very soon!

1.05C Update

The 1.05C update went very silent, but we guessed some people may be wondered why it exists.

We actually jumped from A to C version, because some corrections were done so quickly we didn't even upload them to Steam.

  • We fixed a bug with the game crashing in Level 5 cutscene, which begun to happen with 1.05 version (It stayed on the game for less than 8 hours :D )
  • We made some minor optimizations so the game ran with using less GPU resources. The game is insanely light as it is, but we had a couple of reports of stuttering mainly when using a recording/streaming program like OBS Studio and we hope this is gone by now.
  • We optimized the C64 and "Famines" filters so they don't slowdown the game on older machines.
  • We made a few changes regarding the Linux version (still beta-testing, but it's coming up!)

That's it, We are sure most people wouldn't even have noticed those small changes :)

1.05 Update

We've updated the game to version 1.05. We've added a few more filters, now you can play with C64, MSX1, NES and other palette.

We also made a major overhaul on the way the game writes Japanese texts and revised all the dialogs on this language. We are still doing another revision, but we believe the game may be now more enjoyable for japanese-speaking people

We also corrected a few typos on dialogs. We found hilarious no one so far had noticed Soph says something about "Doing *grills* to become a pilot", LOL :D

We're still beta-testing the Linux build, but we're going to take a couple of days to rest (It's Carnaval here in Rio de Janeiro, where we're based!). We expect the Linux version to be up very soon!

1.04 Update

Our programmer was updating the Scanline filter so it looked better when playing on higher resolutions... and he was having so much fun that he decided to add a lot of new filters. And they are all unlocked from the get-go!

He says he still wants to add an MSX Palette filter because it's the computer he grew up with and learned how to code ... let's see if he will find time to do this :)

Other changes:

  • Corrected a bug that prevented the game to upload scores on Endless Mode - Hard Difficulty
  • Added an option to make the enemy bullets "pulsate", as we've been told this would make the game easier for colorblind people

We are *still* working on the Japanese translation patch, so keep an eye on it ! - We want to thank our japanese translator, Luiza Fernandes, for the tireless work.

And our friend Sho Akutsu who pointed out the problems with the Japanese text and is helping us a lot with it. We will add his name to the Special Thanks section of the credits on next update, but we wanted to thank him right away, as his help is being immensely valuable.
