v1.04: New Challengers, plus an interview with the devs!
v1.04: Two New Ships to unlock: The Razor and Swapper 5. Razor costs obsidian and the Swapper 5 is a great starter ship that only costs dust.
Swapper 5 can transform back and forth between two battle modes: Tank and Sniper. In Tank mode, the Swapper 5 has a rapid fire cannon great for taking down swarms of small asteroids. The Tank mode has tough armor but is not very agile. In Sniper mode, the Swapper 5 has a mid-range highly accurate sniper shot and gains a lot more agility, but sacrifices armor. Tapping the special button will swap between modes.
The Razor is a small agile ship with fast firing twin laser cannons. When holding special, the Razor will use side-to-side thrusters rather than turning! The Razor is a fantastic ship for advanced users. With the additional maneuverability, its small size, as well as a center of rotation at the rear of the ship, it can evade danger like no other ship can.
We also made a number of tuning changes and bug fixes:
Some shots now have far less effective homing: Laser, Arrow, and Flames.
Heat transference of asteroids has been greatly improved.
Alternate Pause and AI keys have been swapped (now on R3 and L3 respectively). (Alternate buttons are there to support some legacy controllers.)
Homing no longer locks onto lava and glowing asteroids
Homing should prioritize enemy ships in versus mode now
Dust counts up faster when the player picks up a LOT at once
Assisting an ally results in greater starting health
Lightning Ball now sets off mines.
New Restart option in the pause menu, especially useful for versus mode.
We recently were interviewed by Team Ninjen Gaming! You can watch the video over on YouTube wherein the kids talk about their favorite ships and some upcoming content while we all try not to get crushed. Watch the interview!

v1.03: Lava and Obsidian
v1.03: New Obstacles at wave 12: Lava Asteroids, Obsidian Asteroids, and Glowing Asteroids! New Resource: Obsidian!
Lava asteroids are indestructible! Watch out, Lava Asteroids will heat up other asteroids they bump into and can create glowing asteroids that are also indestructible until they cool down. The hotter the asteroid, the more damage it does when you bump into it. Be careful! When Lava Asteroids cool, they turn into Obsidian ones. Shatter cool Obsidian Asteroids to collect obsidian.
New art for Geode Asteroids to differentiate them from normal asteroids. They crack when shot, eventually splitting in half. We also fixed their spawn rate so they should show up in earlier waves.
Removed buzzing sfx from shields in vs between waves.
Players who are repaired by allies start with more health.
All Modes now have a Restart option in the pause menu.
Mines now have a color-coded glow to show who dropped them.
Smoothed out thrusters when ships are at low energy.
Mines can now be destroyed by fire, lightning bolts, or rockets.
Art for the Nock has be updated to read more easily.
The "Help me!" popup in vs mode now says "Eliminated".
Vs mode now only has 7 colors to choose from to make it easer to differentiate teams.
AI no longer fires at dead players.
AI ships now have a glitch visual effect to tell them apart from actual players.
AI is a little better at helping other allies.
All ships now have a dark outline so they show up better when overlapping.
Torchbat now drops obsidian instead. It also spawns in later waves, with the Mine Dropper spawning earlier.
The Inferno now costs obsidian.
Higher resolution normal asteroids and asteroid armor.
Removed Grey and White as ship color options so as not to confuse with asteroids or enemy ships.
Blazar special has been upgraded. It now has multiple hits per shot like lighting does.
We now save data after every wave. A few save edge case glitches have been fixed.
More hint (and clearer) text.
Keep blasting, pilots!
Menu / Control Improvements and Balance Patch
v1.02: Some menu and UI improvements, more flexibility for single-keyboard play, wave improvements, and a couple of bug fixes including better analog stick support.
Feature Updates! x Added the starfield to main menu and logo loading. It now persists throughout all menus and modes, unifying the look of the game a bit more. x P1 Keyboard player now supports F and G for left and right (this means that Keyboard P4 and P1 can more easily share a single keyboard). x The controller layouts are now shown in the options or paused screens when the 'Controller Layout' option is selected (instead of displaying them in the main menu). x Added 'use directional first' in certain kinds of menus to prevent misclicks. x Added some slight action delay when pausing the game to prevent misclicks. x All ships in versus mode have shields on during between wave countdowns to minimize griefing while selecting ships and between waves. x The in-between wave timer is now 10 seconds instead of 700 frames x New players spawned in the middle of a wave start out destroyed and must be repaired by allies
Bugfixes: x Game now counts destroyed ships properly for game over even if there are extra AI x When using an Analog stick, the acceleration and fuel usage now depends on hard you tilt up x Waves do not start if other players are still selecting a ship x Enemies won't spawn while players are between waves
Cheats Menu!
This small update adds a cheats menu that you can unlock with resources. You cannot earn resources while cheats are on! So far it has 2 cheats that we used in testing the game:
Unlimited ally AI Ships in Survival. (limited by your CPU, I guess?)
More Frequent Enemies. (meaning more powerups!)
Additionally we updated the Game Over screen to have the ability to either back out to the main menu or start fresh at the most recent wave. Edit: There was a crash issue for some players on viewing the Cheats menu. This has been fixed in the latest build.
