Chapter II - Major Update Preview

Hello Pilots & Commanders, with Chapter II on the horizon, let's take a quick look at what the next major update will bring to Space Reign. 🚀

Heavy Frigates and Destroyers


Bigger ships = Bigger guns. Heavy frigates and destroyers are on their way to the battlefield with destroyers featuring the largest weapons in the game mounted on their S3 hardpoints. Heavy Frigates will offer more S2 hardpoints than all Light Frigates currently available.




Ship Experience system


All player ships will be able to acquire combat experience, which will increase their rank, thus improving their combat skills, such as accuracy, afterburner usage, countermeasures, and more. A simple system of progression for your fleet, similar to many famous RTS games.


New Playable Ships


Besides getting your hands on the Heavy Frigates and Destroyers, including the Taurus Heavy Frigate previously used by the Marshall Gang pirates, you will be able to expand your fleet with 2 more fighter-class ships. Finally, all those ships you have been seeing in the voting polls, all named by you, in the game!


Additional Weapons


We have also been working on new weapons, which will significantly expand your arsenal options. Flaks, burst cannons, laser point-defence, rocket launchers, heavy railguns, cluster missiles and more, including the most powerful launcher in the game capable of destroying smaller ships in a single blow - the S3 Cruise missile silo. We can't wait for you to come up with crazy new loadouts while helping us test their balance.



New Enemy Faction



No more fighting the pirates, it's time for a real challenge. You will face a new enemy - The Tyr Corporation, also known as Tyrcorp. Better trained and better quipped, this militaristic corporation seeks total control over the resource harvesting operations in the region.


New Sectors


New Contract and Conquest sectors will be available for the second chapter, take a look at these new sceneries coming with the update.





Update When?


Our plan is to release Chapter II within one month, since we are currently in the process of testing and tweaking new ships and weapons, as well as some bug-fixing we have to catch up with (including the live version of the game).

Update 0.4.7 - Pause & Command

Hello Pilots & Commanders, another smaller update is out, check out what's changed!

Features:


Pause & Command


Good News! You are now finally able to pause the game in Tacview and give orders to your fleet, maximizing its potential while minimizing..well..the enemy. Just enter the Tacview mode, press SPACE or click on the Pause & Command button, then take your time and assign targets, change stances, or adjust launcher usage - completely stress-free.

Changes:



  • REDUCED Miner Squadrons spawn rate

Fixes:



  • Another Possible Fix for Contracts sometimes being instantly completed without rewards with enemies still spawning
  • Possible Fix for Freighter repair drones sometimes not spawning during the Freighter Rescue contract
  • FIXED Missiles sometimes bouncing off ships when hitting them after their parent ship was destroyed
  • FIXED Miner Delivery reward having the wrong info written in the log
  • FIXED Overlaying Ammo and Commander icons in the Fleet Tab
  • FIXED Point-Defense turrets causing the ship to have wrong range values in CQB stance
  • Other Minor Fixes

Hello Pilots & Commanders, another smaller update is out, check out what's changed!

Features:


Contract sector Traffic


Return of the player favored dynamic sector traffic with a new twist!

Miners - Ally and Hostile Factions will now send Mining Squadrons to extract resources at resource sites. Protect the allied miners and hunt the enemy ones for additional rewards including tech points and experience.

Transports - Transport ships will periodically enter and move through the sectors.

Changes:



  • Tech Points now visible in the main menu save slot
  • REDUCED reward penalty when deploying to low-threat sectors from 70% to 50%

Fixes:



  • Possible Fix for Contracts sometimes being instantly completed without rewards with enemies still spawning
  • FIXED Ship not listening to orders after losing a target from its sensors
  • FIXED Designated Commander not saving after exiting a sector
  • FIXED Ship Stances and and Combat Modes not saving properly after exiting a sector
  • FIXED Entering a sector sometimes causing an error to pop out
  • FIXED Novatech Squadrons having a wrong Corp icon
  • Other Minor Fixes

Hello Pilots & Commanders, a small update is out, check out what's changed.

Features:


New Contract-Freighter Rescue



Guard a stranded cargo Freighter until it's repairs are done and it safely jumps out of the sector. Enemies will come in more frequent waves, so try to eliminate them quickly, before they overwhelm you with numbers.

Changes:



  • INCREASED Projectile Point-Defense Accuracy, Muzzle velocity and Range

Fixes:



  • Possible fix for HOTAS and Controller Assignment/no input response issues
  • FIXED Initial tutorial playthrough sometimes not triggering the Search and Destroy contract
  • FIXED Railgun and Point-Defense Accuracy problems
  • Additional minor UI and ship AI related fixes

Update 0.4.1

Hello Pilots & Commanders, a bigger patch for the recent major update is here, let's see what's been fixed and what's changed!

New:


Free Contracting/In-Sector Contract Selection


Update Feedback has been received received. Free Contracting mode for Contract Sectors is now back in the game. Select any available contract without returning to the hangar for longer deployments.



Changes



  • Keybinding Categories for Fighters and Large ships are now independent - Customize unique keybinds for Control Schemes separately
  • Cursor Mode (ALT) now displays it has been turned on
  • Weapon categories in Tech Tree now show what ship classes are they compatible with
  • Implemented Fast Travel engage reaction time delay for hostile ships
  • Ally Fleet in Fleet Intercept contract now leaves the sector after destroying all targets
  • Missile Impacts now feature dynamic lights


Fixes:



  • FIXED Shezmu conquest sector not counting as captured after claiming all control points
  • FIXED Ship weapon slots not displaying their correct compatible weapon size in loadout editing
  • FIXED UI Glitching after a player controlled ship is destroyed while still having other ships in the sector
  • FIXED Ship duplication causing the ship not to be saved if leaving to main menu immediately after
  • FIXED Firerate not visible in weapon stats - this also fixes T2 Weapons not showing any differences from their T1 counterparts
  • FIXED Some UI elements for uncommon aspect ratios not showing up properly
  • FIXED Database UI placement overlap
  • FIXED Being able to move the ship during the sector deployment sequence
