Space Monsters
In the deepest corners of the Universe they hid, but now it's time for these space giants to return and conquer the galaxy! Or merely eat some fresh meat (oaklana guys taste amazingly sweet). You'll have to deal with various types of Magnapods (as they were called by Norg scientists). Each monster type has unique abilities which you'll have to handle with. The battles won't be easy, you should use your best tactical skills to hit monster's organs in the right time and order. Manage your team members to avoid losses, be very careful and attentive. Monsters is a new gameplay mechanic for Space Rogue and the whole genre.
Drones
The newest military development of Norg scientists has hit the market. Forget about that pitiful prototype drone which you have had so far. Now you can buy various powerful drones at the shops across the galaxy. Whether you try amazing incendiary drone which would grill your enemy just like a delicious chicken at Kepler's Fried Chicken, or stupid yet effective Cannon drone, the result will be above your expectations. At least, that's what they say in the ads. Anyway, drones are indeed stronger than a regular weapon but much slower and less accurate. Also, drones need time to refocus fire after each target change. For now, only two player ships are allowed to use drones - Monaro (Human) and Eri (Norg).
Steam achievements
Awesome news to those who couldn't live without a badge for billion crucially destroyed enemy spaceships. Now you can gain achievements! Now it's your turn to make us actually add that achievement about the billion :)
Eri ship – Norgs are coming to town
Mysterious Norgs have always been explorers, not warriors. However, sometimes you have to examine enemy's vulnerability with a massive armament. Monster invasion forced Norgs to provide their new prototype ship for a public use. Eri equipped specifically for using drones and cartridges.
Cartridges — brand-new devices and significant changes
Three absolutely new cartridges are now available in the shops across the galaxy. Two of those cartridges focus on defensive gameplay by increasing crew' repair speed or enabling crew' personal shields. Other one - gives you the advantage in a boarding actions by increasing crew' attack speed (but reducing crew' movement speed at the same time). NPC spaceships get very similar cartridges as well. So consider counteraction tactics.
With Update 1.3 we also make a significant rebalance of cartridges' energy cost. The goal of these changes is to make energy management more challenging.
New superior and special weapon
Superior weapon — additional group in the armament range. Each existing weapon gets new stronger but rare version. You can recognize it by a little star in the corner of weapon icon.
Special weapon — four extremely rare wunderwaffles. If you managed to get it, think of yourself as Space Smuggler King or something like that. Very fast (we mean it!) laser, 'infinite rockets', bugbot-cannon (just imagine!) and awesome BURRRNING beam. That's what we called special!
Main mission and events
New exciting main mission — face the rebel of ambitious rogue general and cut a mysterious plot against the Galactic Council. Also, we add several new events and sub-quests with space monsters. In addition, you can try extra answer options in the dialogues available if you've fulfilled some requirements.
Technical and visual improvements
Our main priority after the new features was bug fixing, so now the game works better. A lot of changes was made to the interface — gorgeous illustrations, icons, highlights and other visual effects.
AI improvements are also in the list of changes. Your team members are operating more logical with no manual command, either do enemies' crew.

These and a lot of other improvements and changes are made with Monster Invasion update. Please, read much more detailed patch notes here or on the Steam community.
Some answers
We would like to give you a quick status report and tell about the nearest future of Space Rogue answering questions you've asked us before. First of all, we want to thank all who've been playing Space Rogue so far. We hope you're really enjoying it and we'll do our best to improve your game experience.
What is the release date?
In Red Beat, we want to release Space Rogue as fast as possible. However, we have our internal quality standards and the vision of how the finished game may look. We haven't achieved this so far but are MUCH closer with this update. Thus, we can assure you that the Space Rogue will be released this year, though we can't tell you the exact date at the moment.
And when these cool features appear?
As we promised before, we do change our approach to releasing updates. Once we had a desire to make it in 'old school' way like, you know, the big updates with many cool features and content. However, it seems like things don't work that way in these times. So, here's our new statement: more updates, less size. Patches will be released frequently, but with fewer features. Thus, we will provide better and faster feedback for game' community.

So, we think, that's enough at the moment. Ask us any questions you want here, on the Steam Community and via social media accounts: Facebook and Twitter.
Good luck! Meet you in the galaxy!
1.3 Monster Invasion Update Full Patch Notes
Main Features
Space Monsters
The key feature of this update are fights with giant space monsters (they are also known as Magnapods). It's absolutely new game mechanic for Space Rogue, so we'd like to hear your feedback.
There are 9 types of Magnapods distinguished by their abilities:
All space monsters have:
Meeting a magnapod is a severe challenge. You can't board, burn or pierce a monster. However, hard fight means appropriate reward. So if you have managed to beat the magnapod, you can expect a worthy benefit.
Drones
We add fully functioning drones control system for Human and Norg (new!) ships. Oaklana and Chax can't use drones.
There are 5 types of drones available:
Drones deal more damage than a regular weapon. However, drones has some downsides:
Drones can be bought in the shops across the galaxy or received as a reward in a battle or event.

The Space Rogue's Guide to the Galaxy. Part III. Cartridges
Having battle cartridges installed in your main computer cannot guarantee a win in a battle. However, a right pick of cartridges and using them at a fortunate moment would help you to overpower an opponent with minimal losses. We will tell you about capabilities of cartridges which available for purchase on galactic markets. Please, consider this information while choosing you combat tactics and strategy.
There are 14 types of cartridges available at the moment (and we expect more in near future!). You can buy them at the space bases or, if you're lucky, receive cartridges as a reward for winning a battle. Besides, sometimes you might meet wandering merchants who suggest you a bargain. Take a risk to accept their offer if you want to.
“Focus Fire” cartridge is installed in your ship’s main computer by default. Use “Focus Fire” to increase damage to a chosen bay on an enemy ship. “Overpowered Shot” – another common cartridge — is somewhat different. Unlike “Focus Fire”, it simply increases the damage of your next shot. No matter where you shoot.
“Fast Reload” apparently allows you to reload your weapon faster. Just to remember, the cartridge has its own cooldown time :)
“Weapon Jamming” on the other hand increases cooldown of an enemy's weapon. A very helpful trick, especially if your opponent has powerful but slow to recharge armament.
“Psionic Attack” throws enemy's team members into madness. Here is a tip: try to use this cartridge on enemy’ engineers when they are attempting to fix a broken bay. Another Psi-cartridge, “Psionic Shock”, does the same thing but, in addition, causes damage to personnel.
“Feint” increases the evasion chance for your ship. The “Stealth” cartridge is quite similar yet more effective. It has a higher increase of evasion chance. On the downside: effect drops faster. Obviously, both of these cartridges are quite useful for dodging enemy’ attacks.
“First Aid” immediately heals your teammates in the chosen bay. A good commander always cares about ship’s crew!
“Shield Booster” increases the capacity of your energy shield for a while. Remember, the shield is not effective against rockets and kinetic weapon!
“Emergency Repair” instantly repairs the broken bay. Please note, that cartridge replenishes a limited amount of bay’s hit points.
“Firestarter” initiates the fire in the chosen bay of an enemy ship. Try to not burn down your own warriors if they are boarding an enemy!
“Bugbot Spawner” creates the “Spawner” device on an enemy ship, which spawns little annoying bugbots. They run attack ship’s bays and cause damage. Both device and bugbots can be killed by enemy’ crew, so we recommend to place “Spawner” as far from enemy units as possible.
“Piercer” creates a hole in the chosen bay and causes damage to the team members located there. Simple. Stupid. Effective.
Furthermore, each cartridge has three power tiers. The difference between them is in strength and effects duration. For example, “Overpowered Shot Mk. II“ increases the damage much higher than basic “Overpowered Shot”. Improved cartridges will appear at shops and drop as rewards as you progress through your adventure.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or on the Space Rogue Steam community page. Next time we're going to tell you about in-game weapons. Stay tuned!

Highlights of the New Update
As you may have noticed, we significantly speeded up the development process. Today we want to share with you some highlights about upcoming Space Rogue 1.27 update. Although we call it "minor" it contains more changes than you might expect.
First of all, the patch will bring new playable ships. Starting from 1.27 version you will be able to choose a spaceship for your journey through the galaxy. There will be three ships available in total. Each ship is suited for specific playstyle and tactics. Of course, more ships are coming with further updates.
To get a new ship you have to prove you worth it. Have you noticed those space points, which you gain at the end of each game? Now these points tied to a new progression system. Gain points, get levels and unlock new in-game possibilities (including spaceships!). For example, second playable ship opens at the third profile level. You will reach the third level approximately after your second or third playthrough. Playing with higher difficulty settings will reward you with more space points. Thus, you can level up faster by accepting a challenge.
In the 1.27 version, you will get rewards for levels until you reach level 7. Of course, we’ll add new rewards in future updates.
Attention! Points that you already gained will be recalculated.Sorry for inconveniences.
We hope you'd like two new (or rather radically refactored) main missions. If you have played Space Rogue before you'll notice that missions' plots already familiar to you. However, events and enemies are completely new.
Also, we have a good news about savegame files. Space Rogue 1.27 version WILL BE compatible with current version’ savegame files. Sure, we’ll keep this compatibility for future updates. We hear your opinion.
As always, the new version includes a lot of bugfixes and small improvements. We're planning to release it within a week. Stay tuned!

Space Rogue 1.25 Patch Notes
Please, give us feedback about the update on Steam Community
Important notice
Unfortunately, save game files created before the update are not compatible with the 1.25 version. We work on solution how to avoid this in future updates.
Sandbox mode is temporarily unavailable in 1.25 version. We want to improve its functionality and still work on some crucial internal changes. We clearly understand that Sandbox absence is limiting game functionality. Sandbox will be enabled again in the next patch (mid of January 2016). Until then, we propose you to try new revamped Quick Game mode (more details below).
Sorry for inconveniences and thank you for staying with us!
New Gameplay Features
A new story with more complex and engaging missions.
Balanced enemy ships and no so steep game difficulty curve.
Optimized galaxy default size. We made it more compact to improve general playthrough time and made gameplay more goal-focused and immersive.
New weapon: Runaway bomb. A mobile bomb with a timer. The damage from the explosion can be decreased by destroying the bomb. When the bomb is damaged, it moves through the ship, fleeing its attackers.
New weapon: Ray Cannon (available for AI ships only at this moment). Burns the selected bay for X seconds. Fires X pulses over the indicated time and deals X total damage.
New weapons and ship system: Drones / Drones control system. We added various combat drones (Laser drone, Missile drone, Incendiary Drone etc.) for AI ships and Anti-shield Drone for player's ship. We still test this feature. Therefore, we've temporarily limited selection of drones for players.
Life-support ship system now has united Life-support / Medbay functionality. In other words, Life-support system now provides O2 AND heals injured crew members (while they are inside the Life-support bay).
Important Changes
New UI system with additional animations and useful hints. Also, this system opens a possibility for quick further improvements based on your feedback.
Now, if you switch the camera to an enemy ship you will able to see and control your ship with its own mini-map displaying on the left side of the screen.
You can change the size of the mini-maps on the fly by dragging "Scale" button.
Numerous bug fixes.
