šŸ™Œ HANDS UPdate 0.5.0 šŸ™Œ

This is definitely a HANDS ON update!
The most wished for feature ever has come: HANDS
Yes, that’s right! Our research team worked day and night to discover this new technology, called hands. That, and to actually put them in the game.

ALL PLATFORMS
I borrowed a Oculus Rift S from my ā€œPublisherā€ and was finally able to make SSL:O work on the Oculus platform. This and the new hands should also work on the Valve Index (which I currently do not have but will). So we have the 3 major platforms for you available to play on šŸŽ‰

Less heavy, more metal!
The shield lever decreases WAY more slowly, so you do not have to hold it anymore and it will stay ā€œonlineā€ until it decreases below 42%.
Space Pirates will now fly around before shooting, giving you precious time to enter the weapons code and/or bringing up the shields. There is also a warning on screen to help you notice when they are there (they were pretty easy to miss during the action).
Longer timeouts for the buttons were really needed in the heat of action and re-configuring the waves to make it easier to get into the game—no worries veterans, it still gets harder ;)

But wait! There is more!
A new simple loading scene should make micro stutters less likely, tons of performance improvements and small bug fixes were also added to make for a much smoother experience. Hunting down all those performance gremlins is not an easy task and far from done, but there are already noticeable improvements.

Hope you have as much fun with this update as I had making it ːghsmileː

Work In Progress, Update imminent

Hi fellow engineers,

just a short update to break the silence.

I am working hard on an update to make Loma work with the Valve Index.
While I am at it, there will be FINALLY Oculus Rift (S) support (since I was finally able to borrow one).
Oh and while I am on THAT, here is a sneak peek on the most wished feature ever: HANDS

Have a nice Sunday

Update 0.4.2 TOTALLY NOT THE ANSWER

Hello fellow engineers,

I rebalanced the difficulty; it was just too hard to even reach the 10th level.
So it was surely frustrating for some of you to not get very far and I hope I’ve fixed that Issue now.
There are also a lot of tweaks here and there and overall game quality improvements.
As always, the most important changes as a handy list:

  • Updated to Unity 2017.3 (that was a hell of an Update!)
  • Space Pirates are now slower and way harder to miss
  • the shield does not block your weapon fire anymore
  • additional perimeter alert for incoming Asteroids
  • slider won’t be assigned the value they currently have (which had resulted in ā€œinstant-solvingā€)
  • debounce Buttons: sometimes buttons could be pressed multiple times by accident, this should be fixed now
  • not so ā€œBloody Halloween Updateā€
  • some lighting performance improvements

I messed up the Halloween Update and never published it, because I couldn’t fix the performance Issues of the Blood. Finally here it is: Tribbles can now be killed by the Ventilators, but without the blood, so it’s a bit of a compromise.

HELP WANTED

Hello fellow engineers,

I need some help.
You might have noticed there hasn’t been an update in a while.
Well, I tried really hard to make a Halloween update and that escalated to ā€œUpdate Unity to 2017.2ā€ and update all other assets and so on, and I obviously didn’t made it on time (for this I am very sorry :( ).
Since then I’ve been busy cleaning up the mess I produced, but while I am at it:
What do YOU want?

What do you like about Loma?
What should definitely stay as it is?
What could use some improvement?
What do you dislike?

Please drop me a few lines so I have a better idea what to prioritize and what i should focus on in the near future.

Update v0.4.0 - Trouble with the Tribbles šŸ––

Every ticket in Alpha 4 is finally closed, so here comes Version 0.4.0 šŸŽ‰

After way too long of a period of silence (damn you heat wave!), here comes a pretty big Update. I must say that this is one I’ve wanted to do since I started with the Prototype back in 2016, but priorities are important in gamedev ;).
So better late than never, enjoy your fluffy fellows <3

  • Tribbles
  • replicator
  • food
  • re-recorded voice overs <3
  • new voice overs
  • steam cloud saves ☁
  • general sound improvements
  • sliders now have indicator lamps (that can break)
  • new breakdown effects
  • new crowbar sounds
  • better smoke
  • hypercube
  • neat boxes

Bug fixes

  • fixed some missing colliders
  • fixed infinite flying weapon-fire (could improve performance in late game)
  • fixed an error with the throwable crate
  • some objects were falling over on second start
  • fixed rare case when reflections were not updated properly
  • space pirates don’t shoot themselves anymore

Update Delay

Hello fellow engineers,

the next patch is delayed beyond belief, because we were hit by a heat wave that made it impossible to work on Loma properly (I have an attic story apartment and air conditioning is not common here).
In the last month, I had only 2 weekends when I could work on Loma and next week looks even worse.
As soon as the heatwave is over, I will be back to regular updates as you have seen in the past!

I am really sorry for the delay, but stay tuned, I am still here

Update v0.3.2 - pew die pirates!

SPACE PIRATES! šŸ“ā€ā˜ ļø
We got space pirated https://twitter.com/StationLoma/status/862773178623504385,
can you help defend the Loma Sector against those ruthless outlaws?

This update features a set of new game mechanics.

  • PEW PEW! also known as the W.A.T.ā„¢ (Whats A TorpedoĀ®) weapon system is now included in every copy of Space Station Loma: OPERATIONS. This represents the newest technology when it comes to protection in space
  • SPACE PIRATES! They surely don’t come in peace while they try to take out the station. Can you defeat them and defend the station?
  • S.H.I.E.L.D.S UP! Not good at timing shots? No Problem! Power up your shields. I have a feeling that they can’t shoot you forever
  • Balancing the new game mechanics with the established ones
  • Space was pretty empty, but not anymore
  • Updated some sound effects
  • Updated a lot of lighting
  • Updated reflections
  • Updated materials

ENGAGE! šŸš€

Update v0.3.1 - Mr. Freeman

Big things need time (aka. Rome wasn’t built in a day), so this update brings a big and really needed feature: FREE MOVEMENT.
BE FREE MAN!
The space Loma needed was always a bit odd, because the console tables had to be directly in front of the player and in the middle of the play area, which resulted in the problem that some players couldn’t reach all controls because they didn’t have enough space to the left while to the right plenty of space wast just wasted.
Now you can bring yourself into a position where reaching all controls is possible.

  • Free movement with teleportation
  • Table size handles overhauled (watching all those youtube videos gave me an idea how you, the players, expect those things should work, and I hope I nailed it ;)
  • Head blocker (it blocks your head)
  • Fixed some objects that just fell over when the game starts (not always)
  • Improving some 3D models for the new free movement era
  • A handful of minor bug fixes that probably only a developer will notice

Not as many points as I wished there would be, but getting the free movement to work was a pretty big point.

Update v0.3.0 - polishing

This is a small update and mostly based on the feedback I got from TheDaveStream.
Some things were polished, others were tweaked and a few were fixed.
Nothing to list this time, but it is an update, and with these improvements and bug fixes the game reaches v0.3.0 \o/ #partyhard.

Update v0.2.4 - it’s dangerous to go alone ...

… take this tutorial!
It is awesome to see so many people enjoying the game already ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
Thanks for playing it and your feedback.

But as much as I love to see you being confused and panicking while trying to figure out what to do, the need for a proper (or at least some sort of a) tutorial was very obvious.
So this update gets one. But IF you are the sort of person who likes to figure out stuff by themselves, you do not have to use it ;)

  • Tutorial (totally optional)
  • Game main menu–yes, in VR it is a BIG thing ;)
  • Level selection: You can now select the level you want to start at (as long as you’ve made it that far first)
  • Buttons tweaked: There is still work to do, but the buttons should feel smoother now
