For this patch, we revamped the control customization feature from the feedback we received last patch. Because of this change, control settings from previous versions will be reset. Other changes in this patch included network optimizations and misc. bug fixes.
Control customization should now support almost all controller types. If you experience problems, please calibrate or remap your controller in options. And if that still doesn't solve the problem, please let us know!
Balance Changes, Joystick Customization, and More
We are on our third patch cycle since the Early Access Release! Thank you all for being patient with us as we continue to improve Spaera!
Balance Changes
Rafael's Lingering Intermezzo duration reduced from 7 turns to 5 turns As with the rate of gaining meter, Rafael's Lingering Intermezzo is capable of stringing into another Lingering Intermezzo, making it more powerful than it's supposed to be.
Setter Z's Blast Knuckle now slows down your drop speed We increased the effects of Setter Z's Blast Knuckle as it seemed to be a bit ineffective as a control ability.
Blocks required to build 1 magic meter increased from 70 to 85
Menus and Options
Full Screen and Resolution Selection There are now options inside the options screen to switch to Full Screen Mode and select your desired resolution.
Joystick Customization and Versus Mode Key Customization You are now able to customize your joystick buttons as well as customize your keys for Versus Mode. We are seeing some issues with certain controller, but if you seeing any issues, please let us know with the controller model and operating system version.
Bug Fixes
Network stability fixes
UI navigation fixes
Known Issues
Previously saved options will be reverted to the default settings Apologies for the inconvenience, but this is a side-effect from the changing of the format for controls and options.
Non-English Steam Names are not showing up since international font isn't supported yet If an opponent leaves an Online Match due to being invited to a Private Match, you may get stuck. Please restart the client if this happens
The Spaera Client still needs some performance tweaks and can get sluggish over time. If this becomes an issue, please restart the client to fix it for now.
There are still some unexpected graphical glitches here and there.
If new bugs are found, Please report them to the Steam Spaera Discussion Page!
Patch 0.9.2.3
In this patch, we are adding the Leaderboards screen along with a few bug fixes.
Leaderboards
Still a work in progress, it currently has two screens:
The top players on the Leaderboard Currently only a handful of players are shown here, but expect to see this page being paginated in the future.
Your position on the Leaderboards and players near your rank This is also looking very vanilla at the moment, and we still need to add highlighting to indicate the row you're at.
What to expect in the future In the future, we will likely rename the button to something such as Social, and where you can look at your stats, as well as the stats of your friends, and players you've recently played against.
CPU Difficulty
So far, our CPU has made quite a few enemies out of players. It's been terrorizing newcomers who are still getting acquainted with the system, while it feels too weak to more advanced players.
Before we add a difficulty toggle, which should happen in the coming weeks, we've decided to make the CPU play slower to welcome our new players.
What's Next
Next up, our focus is to get Joystick Button customization functional, and as well as key customization for Versus Mode. We originally wanted to get them in for this patch, but we decided that we'd prefer to get the update out first with the leaderboards, instead of delaying the patch.
We will also be making some balance changes for the next patch.
In the future, we are thinking of setting up a poll for folks to vote on which features they want implemented first. But in the meantime, please let us know in the comments or in the Discord chat if you have any ideas or features you'd like to see sooner than later!
Early Access is Live!
Welcome to the Spaera Community!
For us personally, it's been a very long journey getting to this point, but at the same time, things are just getting started!
Spaera is a game that's at its best when played against friends, so we hope this community will really grow helping each other through tips and discussions about strategy and match ups.
If you're unfamiliar with how to play the game, please check out our simple guide on our website, which we are planning to build upon. Alternatively, start asking questions - from Beta testing, we already have some awesome folks that are very friendly willing to help new players out!
Current Known Issues / Missing Features
Online Private match invites can only be accepted right now when you're not in an online match In the future, we'd like to either give users the option to accept even if they are already in a match, or at the very least give them a notification that a friend wants to play with them.
Tsubaki and Leon are not playable yet We are still tuning them, and hopefully we can get them back into action soon.
Story mode is incomplete As of now, story mode is only a single player mode where you play against the CPU of increasing difficulty. Throughout Early Access, we will be tuning the difficulty, adding more difficulty settings, a boss fight, and ending scenes for each character.
Placeholder assets If some of the buttons look out of place in terms of location and style, they probably are! Even though they look not as aesthetically pleasing as we like them, we wanted to make sure the functionality is available to use.
Memory Leaks We are aware that this build currently has performance issues when played over a long period of time, and it's something near the top of our list right now to fix.
Graphical Glitches There are some weirdness and glitches during the abilities of some characters.
Joystick Compatibility and Customization Joystick key customization is currently disabled, and we've been gathering feedback that certain joysticks are not working properly. If you encounter joystick problems, please let us know what joystick you're using!
Cloud saves This is something we're currently testing and hopefully enabling soon.
If you find any bugs or things you feel can be improved upon, don't hesitate to let us know!
