Due to the constant vandalism of gravestones around the neighborhood it seems that evil spirits have become increasingly disturbed. Controls!

VirZOOM Support

Since launch, we’ve been worked closely with the talented team at VirZOOM to be the first Unreal Engine game to support the VirZOOM bike. We’re thrilled with the new level of immersion there bike has added to the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpVlwmUpDw0

Pedal your bike through the neighborhood as you lean left and right to avoid obstacles and traps. Use the built in handlebar controls with gaze based aiming to throw the papers or further immerse yourself by using one of the motion controllers to grab and throw the papers.

Gamepad Support

No motion controls? No problem! We’ve removed the requirement and added in full support for gamepad users. (VR headset is still required).

Lean to Steer

By popular request, we’ve added a new steering option to the game. Simply lean left or right to steer the bike around the neighborhood. This control option is standard for gamepad & VirZOOM users and optional when playing with motion controllers.

Tutorial Level

In addition to the new interactive instruction booklet, we’ve also added a tutorial level. Take a ride down a quiet country road as you learn all the game controls.

Overtime Mini-Game

A new mini-game has been added called Overtime with the objective of delivering for both the Oldtown Observer (blue mailboxes) and the Daily Inquisitor (red mailboxes) . The first level is unlocked after the completion of Week #1 with remaining levels unlocked after completing weeks 2-4.

Performance Optimizations

In addition to all the new features, we’ve also made several optimization improvements. Players should see performance gains for both CPU and GPU (more-so on the CPU side).

What’s next?

Downtown Dash

Downtown Dash is currently in development and is expected to deliver in the next big update, Release 3.0. Players will take the seat of a bike courier as they pedal their way through the bustling downtown traffic to score as many deliveries as possible before time runs out.

Localization

It’s our goal to bring Special Delivery to as many players around the globe as we can. Once all of the in-game text for Downtown Dash has been finalized, we’ll be localizing all of the text to as many languages as we can.

Playstation VR

Special Delivery is coming soon to Playstation VR! Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook for more information on this and other news.

Release 2.0

Delivery of our first big update, Release 2.0 is just around the corner. Here’s a look at what’s being added:

VirZoom Support!

We’re excited to announce that official support for the VirZoom bike is planned for Release 2.0! Riders will control the bike’s turns by leaning in the desired turn direction. The bike's speed will be controlled with the VirZoom pedals.

Players will be able to choose from the from the following options to throw the papers:
  • No Motion Controllers / Look-to-throw: VirZoom handlebars (both hands). Button press will throw a paper in the direction you are looking.
  • One Motion Controller (left or right): One hand on VirZoom handlebars for balance/support and one motion controller to grab and throw papers.

For more information about the VirZoom bike visit http://virzoom.com/

Additional Control Options

The new ‘lean to turn’ and ‘look to throw’ options we’re adding for the VirZoom support will also be available control options without the VirZoom bike. This includes a gamepad option for players without motion controllers.

Breaking News: Overtime

In the Overtime mini-game, players baskets will be stocked with both RED and BLUE papers with the objective of delivering the matching paper to every house on their route.

Sections are unlocked by progressing in the main Breaking News game mode.

Tutorial Level

We’re also adding a tutorial level featuring a scenic country road with billboards along the route containing helpful gameplay information.

Hotfix 1.0c

Hi Everyone!

We posted another small hotfix for you last night to fix a few issues.

-audio options sliders will now save their positions

-leader board scores will now also save at the end of each week, previously they only saved at game over

- bike hud moved up to upper handlebar for easier viewing

Hotfix 1.0b

One more small hotfix for you this morning to address another bug reported from launch.

The bike handlebars are now locked until you begin moving after you unpause the game at the start of the level. Before, users were able to initially grab the handlebars which would then prevent them from grabbing them again after they unpaused to begin the level. This issue will no longer occur.

Hotfix v1.0a

Hello Oldtown Observer Employees!

We're happy to provide you with our first Special Delivery hotfix, version 1.0a. This fix addresses most of the initial issues reported by the community since our launch last Friday. Thanks to all who provided feedback!

Patch Notes:

-improved newspaper throwing power and accuracy for Vive users, this will now match the experience for Oculus Touch users

-fixed collision issues going from road to sidewalk/yards that would sometimes cause the bike to spin out

-fixed (hopefully) intermittent issue with bike popping up into the air after respawning, please let us know if you still encounter this and we will take another look

-slightly reduced kill box side for tornado

-fixed hippie protestor getting stuck after game pause

-getting killed by a tornado cow should now reward you the proper achievement

The Official Game Instruction Booklet

Only one more day until the release! In keeping with the classic gameplay that inspired Special Delivery, we've opted for a traditional instruction booklet instead of a tutorial level.
