For the great races of the Sphere, trees are of value only as building material for houses, castles and siege engines, and they do not even notice the animals inhabiting the ancient forests of Erikuria, the Valley of Cold and the Southern Lands. Here, for example, are proteins. Most likely, while traveling around the world, you have never seen them. But the squirrels have been keeping an eye on you for a long time. Nothing can hide from their attentive and curious eyes! They follow travelers everywhere, they always know who is going where, and if you happen to spend the night in the forest, then don’t be surprised if you don’t have enough supplies in the morning, especially if you stocked up on nuts for the journey.
But the squirrels not only observe, they protect their forests as best they can, take care of the ancient trees and warn the bipeds that they are coming to ravage their lands. But the squirrels are not strong enough to stop civilization, which is inexorably advancing on their home, and they retreat further and further into impenetrable thickets and windfalls - where the greed of people and others cannot yet reach.
But there are other proteins. The largest and strongest of these intelligent animals occasionally leave their shelters and go out into the world. Some settle near cities and villages, while others join larger animals - those who have enough strength to defend their common home. So from time to time you can see how squirrels show the way to the cleavers making their way through the jungle to the edge of the forest.
Nut is one of the warriors of the squirrel tribe. No one will ever know where he got his armor, just the right size for himself, just as no one will know how he made friends with the war boars and became their scout, and he will not tell anyone his real name. Nut is fearless and fast as lightning, he is more agile than his fellow tribesmen and more curious than all of them combined. But what really distinguishes him from all other squirrels is that he was the first to go out into the big world openly and begin to look for a two-legged friend.
If you are lucky enough to meet him one day and become friends, then know that you will find in him a faithful ally, a devoted and incredibly useful comrade. The nut will accompany you in any adventure, it will follow you into the darkest dungeons, will not leave you at the walls of a besieged castle, will not get confused in the capital hubbub of Olannor and will not flinch under the gaze of Lord Vagrot himself! Story of the Ax
Little is known about the warriors of the Valley of Cold, those who move from settlement to settlement on the back of a war boar, making their way through snow, through blizzards and through the black winter night. We can say that they are stern and taciturn warriors. Or that they keep their guard at the border of inhabited lands. Or that they always end up where monsters get too close to settlements. All this is true, but it still doesn’t say anything about them.
Little is known for certain about these guardians of the cold plains. All of them were able to tame the boar cleaver. They wear special helmets with a crest made of stiff wool. And each of them is armed with a heavy ax, which he carries on his back. That's basically all.
Boar riders are recognized by these axes. By the way, here is one of them! Look at her. One of its wings shines dazzlingly in the sun, reflecting the light like the ice of a frozen lake. It is eternally cold and will instantly freeze anyone who tries to touch the metal with their bare hand. The second wing of the ax exudes the heat of a blazing fire; it is always red-hot and can burn an unwary warrior. Axes of the Ice Flame - that's what they're called.
You need to have remarkable courage, as well as strength and wisdom, just to take this weapon in your hands and not get hurt! Few people are able to cope with the killing power of this deadly, but so elegant ax.
But you can’t fool your eyes – you already want to squeeze its handle, wave it, and hang it behind your back! And this is understandable. You have all the qualities to handle this weapon. Winter is coming!
Cold winds have blown over the Sphere, they are driving up heavy leaden clouds and bringing frost that penetrates to the bones. Rare snow falls from the sky - it melts before reaching the ground, but soon the frost will get stronger and the snow will fall in full force. The holiday of the Snowy Twist is just around the corner, but the middle of winter is still far away, but for now... In the meantime, the frost is getting stronger, and wild boars are emerging from their secluded rookeries. These ferocious beasts roam the Valley of Cold in search of food and attack anyone who dares to invade their domain. Don't underestimate these animals!
They are the embodiment of courage and fury, they are anger itself, ready to fall on those who dare to cross the borders of their lands! Any hunter knows that in the snowy forest there is no animal more dangerous than a wild boar! It’s not for nothing that they have long been attacked with special spears, and nothing else, because neither a leopard, nor a tiger, nor even a bear awakening in the middle of winter poses such a danger as a young hog defending its land!
This is the lot of youth - to rush into battle against anyone who dares to cross the line. But among the boars there are also wise animals. Those who have lived enough years in the world know that neither demon nor man pose a danger to their existence. The giants are busy with their wars, but the boars know the truth. They know that behind the snowstorm and the darkness of the winter night there is a real danger. Darkness, death and something much worse than death. And they, the boars, were the first to stand in the way of this darkness!
Adult boars, which have grown long tusks and stiff bristles that protect better than any armor, sometimes go out into the world and look for a warrior. It doesn't matter if it's human or demon, because it doesn't matter to them. They are ready to faithfully serve anyone who can put armor and a saddle on them and remain alive. And they will fight together with their warrior to the last drop of blood. Such boars are called Cleavers, and they always fight in the vanguard during the winter cold.
