South African Load Shedding



Hello,
The country in which we live in had storms an damage major power lines on a power grid that was already under stress. As a result we are without power daily for hours at a time which is really affecting our work progress. We are close to being able to release an update, but with the current situation we can give a estimation of release in-between 2 and 4 weeks.

We have done research into providing power for ourselves during the load shedding and have been looking into obtaining UPS power supply, unfortunately they are very expensive and may take some time to obtain.

Till then we will do what we can, whilst we have the power to do so and appreciate your assistance.

News for Single player and Multiplayer



We have been doing internal tests on the 2km squared Open Play Multiplayer map, currently it lacks the objectives for players and has some networking problems which are affecting the wildlife to only be seen locally. We are working hard to resolve these issues, but at least we have a working version of the map and multiplayer.



The single player levels have had the lighting baked onto the scenes and the final level has reached more of a complete state. We will be focusing on the game play and mechanics on the final single player level that will be available in the next update.

Continued Progress


We are continuously working on the final level for the single player story. The final details are being added to the level and we will be looking towards mechanics and enemy engagements over the next few weeks.

Conclusion to the Story.


We have started production on the final level for the single player mode. We plan to address more of the lore within this level and create some unique encounters for the players. This level will also be the conclusion to the story line.

New Map and Game Mode Updates


The new map and game mode is still under development and has been receiving updates.

Particularly the crystal meteor event which can occur while playing on the map. This event will require players to find a crystal that can be harvested and then call in the refinery to obtain resources. This will allow us to implement a inventory system at a later stage that can be further expanded on.

Light baking


We are busy baking the lights for all the levels as we upgrade the Spider Wars to the new Unity, this process is extremely heavy on computers and can take some time to complete. This was also needed for the weather system and new day/night cycle that has been added to some of the current levels.

The end result will be worth it and we appreciate your patience thus far.

The Story Continues


We have been hard at work behind the scenes in 2019 to bring you the next update coming to Spider Wars as soon as possible and plan to keep the pace up till full release.

Two new story levels have been added to the single player game mode, with a final planned for later this year. This will be a continuation of the current story progression. Other levels have had minor touch ups to unify the world of Spider War

New feature in survival


The survival based map and mode will come with it's own unique features. One such feature will involve resource extractions from fallen crystals.

These extractions will occur when the player interacts with a rare crystal that will fall down from the sky. There will then be a refinery unit that is dropped from space. The refinery unit will harvest the designated crystal over a period of time in which the player will have to defend the refinery unit from other players. There will be a shield split evenly among the player, their friends and the refinery unit up to a limited range. This shield will serve the purpose of helping the player defend the refinery units until departure.

Players attacking the refinery unit and its' defenders will have to capture possession of it before the unit leaves after a set time.

New Map, New Mode

We will be introducing a 2KM squared map featuring different biomes for different play styles. This will be the largest map ever added to Spider Wars and will come with its own game mode.



The game mode is Survival based in which you can team up with friends and claim objectives to receive your loot, or fight it out with other players.



We have been doing internal stress test and plan to do a public stress test once we start to finalize the changes. We also finally managed fix the shields on the Artillery and Assault classes!

3D Nav Mesh Generator


We have been working on a 3D navigation mesh system that will tie in closely to the fauna and flora.
This system will also lay down the ground works for AI.
