Beach Resort DLC to be Included in Main Game + Console Update
Hello!
We included Beach Resort DLC in the main game package and will remove the DLC page from Steam. The reason is simple: the content is free anyway and having it separate just confuses our players. So we decided to just enable it by default for everyone. It's a cosmetic change so don't worry, nothing will happen in your games.
Also we are quite pleased to announce that the console update, which will include all new features and both DLCs will be sent to the certification process today. After it's checked by all console platforms, we will release the update and merge crossplay with the new version of the game. Meaning no more launch options and one default version of the game with a full feature set for everyone. As the price of the game is higher on consoles, Adventureland will be included as a free update. We hope to release the update this month, but now the wait process entirely depends on console platforms.
Thank you for playing Spirit of the Island and have a nice day!
Update 3.0.4.0
Hi!
We have another small bugfix update ready: - We have resolved the large savefile problem - this time completely. There's only one thing: you would need to delete two large txt files in your savegame folder. Sadly, you will lose all of your quest progress - we found no way to avoid this - but all your other progress, including buildings, items, relationships, etc. will remain intact. IMPORTANT: only people that have encountered this issue have to do it! Please do not delete anything if your game works fine!
How to delete the files: * Press Windows key + R * Input %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/1M Bits Horde * Find two largest txt files - they are usually close to or well over 200MB in size * Delete them
We are very sorry for the inconveniences caused by this. We tried to avoid this, but without the deletion we can't update your savefile system.
- We fixed Key of Elements progression; - Some small fixes in all quests; - Fixed the quest sync in coop: now both players should see the correct quest progress.
We are still working on the fixes for the dialogue problem, an update will come soon.
Thank you for playing Spirit of the Island!
Update 3.0.3.0
Hello!
We have a new update: - We fixed History Book problem in legacy story; - Controller buttons now work properly in all menus; - Building repair is fixed; - Dialogues no longer reset during the game or after restart; - Desync in the new storyline coop mode is fixed; - Tony won't thank you for saving his kid before the quest is done anymore; - We fixed the issue with big save file sizes, now the game shouldn't crash for players with big farms.
An update 3.0.2.5 is live
Dear adventurers,
We are happy to present you with an update 3.0.2.5. We were in a hurry to fix the most annoying issues that some of you have:
Fixed: - The quest trigger for the Lighthouse quest (if players save the game and quit before entering Lighthouse right and giving items to Tony the quest doesn’t trigger anymore). - Dialogues with the NPCs in the village do not reset after the load anymore. - Family Heart quest dialogue fixed. - Missing names in the dialogues with the Lighthouse, Pirate, and Elisa. - Huge saves were created when finishing the quest for Hawk. - Fixed the fire at the old farm hose. - Issues with the multiplayer when players have a de-sync and were not able to complete the quests together.
Improvements: - Players will now get less tired during the day and will have at least 18 hours per day without falling asleep.
One but important note for the ones that experienced issues with the huge save (game save and load time is big or even crash the game): please, go to %USERPROFILE%/AppData/LocalLow/1M Bits Horde/SOTI, find the huge TXT files (400 MB+) and simply remove these TXT files only!!! Unfortunately, your quests progression will be lost, but all the items, skills, buildings, etc. progress is safe so you don’t need to get new relations, or start everything from scratch, just the questline.
Hope you will like the update.
AN update 3.0.2.3 is ready.
Dear adventurers,
Some of you have experienced issues with the old save files that were not showing. We have prepared an update that solves this issue and we are happy to present this update.
What was fixed:
1) Quests that were not saved after you quit the game and load again. 2) The starting point after you complete the intro quest. Now you will appear near your house instead of the beach house. 3) Dialogs that were resetting. 4) Quest triggers in both the multiplayer and the single player.
Hope that these changes will help solve your first problems. The main thing we want to highlight: your old saves didn’t disappear: they are there safe and you didn’t lose any progress. Now you could continue your old game save if you wish to.
We will continue working on the QoLs that were marked.
See you in the Spirit of the Island.
New Story Update is Live!
We are very excited to launch the New Story Update! To celebrate the occasion, Spirit of the Island will have a 65% discount for the base game and 20% discount for the Adventureland DLC until February 20th! The discount will launch in 1 hour!
New Story mode brings completely reworked quests, dialogues and main story line for both single player and co-op modes. And yes, the story is now the same in both modes. That’s about 25 hours of brand new gameplay completely for free! It’s a great way to experience the game anew. We had a lot of feedback from our dear community and we did our absolute best to rework everything from scratch. We don’t want to spoil too much here, but we hope that you and your friends are excited to visit our tropical paradise again in both single player and co-op! Oh, and don’t worry about the old story: it will be available as well! If you want to try it, select “Children of the Ocean” when you start the game. But we highly recommend playing the new one first, as it will be the most complete experience you could get!
We are also releasing steam trading cards! Everyone who already played the game will get their drops very quickly after some gameplay. We made emojis, backgrounds and other cool goodies for you to decorate your steam profile!
And for our achievement hunters: we’ve fixed all achievements! You should be able to get 100% without a problem now — sorry for the long wait!
And to add ever more spice to the news: sometime in April, the mobile version of Spirit of the Island will be released for iOS and Android — and it will support crossplay with PC and Consoles! You will be able to play SOTI anywhere you’d like, at home or on the go. And in early summer, we will release a new story and all updated stuff for consoles, finally merging the two versions together. Please wait for the news about both releases!
We’d like to say a huge thanks to our community for supporting us for such a long time. We are preparing a lot of exciting things and new games, so we hope you stick with us for the new releases!
Yours dearly,
1M Bits Horde and Meta Publishing.
Spirit of the Island: End of Year Summary
Hello friends! It’s Christmas and we think it’s a good time to make a summary of what we did in 2023. But first and foremost: Merry Christmas! Spend this lovely festive season in the company of your friends and family, eat nice food, play good games, and enjoy the Holidays!
Now, where shall we start? The beginning of the year was all focused on patches and fixes, such as new controller support, vehicle controls and other things that made the whole experience more refined. In February, we conducted a very important player survey (.... !) which helped shape our release strategy for 2023.. Now, not everything went exactly as planned: we had some pushbacks, but all of them were done because we wanted to increase the quality of our releases and provide the best experience possible. We are very grateful for all the feedback that you provided to us: which made Spirit of the Island the game it is today.
Let’s fast forward a bit: it’s June 1st, Summer is starting and with that, the beach season. A great time to visit a tropical resort, right? We thought so as well and launched Beach Resort: the first DLC for the Spirit of the Island for free! It added a whole new starting island with plenty of free space to build the resort of your dreams. The reception for the DLC was amazing, as everyone wanted a bigger island for a long time. We are very happy with the reception!
Let’s go to July, as then we had a very important announcement: Cross-Platform features for consoles and mobile game versions. Spirit of the Island is the very first game in the genre, that you can play together with your friends, no matter the platform: PC or Console and in the future, mobile. And just a bit later, in August, SOTI got a permanent price reduction on the PC. All in all, Summer was a very fruitful season for the game!
And the fun didn’t stop in September too: we revealed our plans for the end of the year, console release date, and new storyline update release date. The first one in line was Adventureland, the second DLC for the Spirit of the Island. It was released in October and got great feedback from our community. Combined with the beach resort, the possibilities to expand and create your resort were never as big as they are now. And a few weeks later, on October 19th, we launched console versions of the game with the crossplay feature. Oh! We forgot to mention, that SOTI became fully compatible with Steam Deck as well, meaning that you can play on the go with your friends, who own a Switch or another Steam Deck — how cool is that?
This year is not over yet though! There’s one more thing ahead of us to launch: The New Storyline update. It’s a major revamp of all quest and story systems, so it took us more time to develop and now we are in the process of testing. It’s taking some more time, but we think that it will be ready at the start of next year. Playtest is coming soon too!
Huge thanks to EVERYONE in our community! We are truly blessed to have you with us.
Merry Christmas!
An Announcement Regarding New Story Update
Hey everyone,
We have a very important announcement to make today: the New Story Update will be delayed. We don’t have a date yet, but we are hoping to release it this month.
The reason for the delay is the complexity of the update. To make sure everything works smoothly, we created a completely new quest system from scratch. The one that we’ve used before didn’t allow us to make big changes to quest generation, rewards, and quest complexity. That’s why a decision to make a totally new system was made. We were positive that it would be ready in November, but testing showed us that there are still quite a few things to polish before we can release it to you, our players.
We are going to launch a public test update as soon as we have a build. You will be able to try the new update before release and help us hunt bugs in public testing because we can’t catch everything with our internal QA, it’s simply not possible for a game of this calibre. We will put out an announcement a few days prior to the release of the public test. The test will be completely optional, so if you want to only play the full experience, you can skip it and wait for the full release, which will come after we fix everything that will be reported to us.
We know that the delay is not ideal, but we don’t want to release a buggy update with the potential to break everyone’s old and new save games. No one wants that. We hope you understand our concerns and reasons for this drastic measure. In return, we can promise that the wait is worth it and the game will see major improvements to its story and questing parts — in both single-player and coop modes.
If you have any questions, you can ask us in the comments for the news, or in our Discord server.
Thank you for always supporting us,
The teams at Meta Publishing and 1M Bits Horde.

Small Update 1.4.0.0
Hello!
We have a small update with some bug fixes today.
- Fixed scaling issues with ultrawide monitors; - Captain won’t get stuck and bug out if you talked to him before starting Pier quest; - Vehicle controls with a gamepad were also adjusted.
