Announcing Fennel

Fennel hits the gas!

Making a guest appearance from Intergalactic Road Warriors, Fennel has it's eyes on the SpiritSphere to boost his engine to the max.

Fennel is heavy character with low acceleration, but high top speed. His dash can be charged up and will send him across the stage.

Expect to see him in the game soon!

Experimental Branch Patch August 22 2016

Today is Eendhoorn's birthday, it was exactly a year ago that I founded the company, hurray!

I wanted to give something to you today, and I've wrapped up most of the work on the Ancient Arena, so I made it playable for you guys!

I have also updated my development software which brought along a bunch of weird things, so if you encounter anything strange, let me know!

stages

  • The Ancient Arena is now available in both singleplayer and multiplayer mode! The goals are divided in different sections, score in the red zone for 2 points, and in the orange zone for a single point as usual. [point text is not localized correctly and will be fixed on release]

Let me know what you think in the discussions after you've played it!

features

  • When the ball is placed back to a players' side after scoring a point, the player has a few seconds to hit the ball before it will start rolling towards him. This is done to prevent the player from keeping the opponent waiting, and removes the abuse of the respawning grass in the forest stage.

Experimental Branch Patch August 12 2016

As promised, I did some work on the 4 player mode for you guys!
You can test it on the experimental branch.

I also worked on a bunch of other things;

features

  • Added 4-player mode [untested]

gameplay changes

ozo

  • Ozo's charged move's range now scales with the charge duration; the longer you charge, the bigger the range on the attack
  • Ozo's charge duration has been slightly increased

misc

  • When selecting practise mode, a second character will now be added automatically in the character select screen
  • fixed a bug where particle effects would scale incorrectly on some resolutions

game configuration

  • Added an option to open the SpiritSphere Launcher, where screen resolution and input can be configured. To do this, hold Alt immediatly after you've chosen open SpiritSphere.

I didn't have the chance to play with 4 players yet, so it might be incredibly buggy. But that's why it's called the experimental branch!

How do I access the Experimental Build?

It's quite simpel; In your library, right click SpiritSphere, and select properties.

Then select the "experimental[unstable]" branch, and the game should update automatically.

You can select the default branch at any time to return to the stable version.

  • Fixed a bug where using the d-pad in the match result screen would scroll all the way down in a single button press
  • Fixed a bug where it was only possible to exit the singleplayer screen after selecting a character
  • Added new music for the Sphere Fountain
  • Added ESC as a button to exit some menu's

Let me know if you encounter anything strange regarding these bug fixes.

Ancient Arena Stage Reveal

I've been working on a new stage in between the playtesting sessions for bug fixing. It's shaping up nicely, and I thought I'd give you guys a look at what to expect!

The stage is called the Ancient Arena, and it will be a competitive stage with no items or stage hazards.
The goal is divided in different sections, the orange corners yield 1 point per goal, and the red zone yields 2 points per goal!
So you better be extra careful in guarding the center of your goal.

I hope to add the Ancient Arena in the experimental build soon :)

Play the latest unreleased build in the Experimental Branch

Hi everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone for the kind words that everyone has given me, it's heartwarming.
---

Being a solo developer on a local multiplayer is quite hard, since I rarely have someone to test new features with.

That's why I have added a new branch that you guys can access; The Experimental Branch.

This branch contains the latest version of SpiritSphere, with new unreleased features. I could use all the help in the world with play-testing, so whenever you encounter something strange in the Experimental Build, post it in the Discussions under the Experimental category.

In return, you get to test all these new features that you are not supposed to see yet! There might be a whole lot of bugs though, but that's what we are going to fix together.

SpiritSphere Launch! What now?

SpiritSphere is available now! So what's next?

There is still a lot of content planned for the game, and I want your help to decide what should be added next!

Here is an unordered roadmap for the game, put a comment here or in this discussion on what you would like to see added first!

  • additional characters (2 to 3)
  • additional stages (2 to 3)
  • Squash Mode
  • 4 player mode
  • additional items
  • additional spheres

Ofcourse bug fixes have the highest priority, so that will be taken care of first.

Thanks for all the support! :D
