Spud Cricket VR

A couple of odd bugs from time to time...

Recently I noticed some odd bugs that occur infrequently and it's hard to find the pattern. It occurs when you get out (usually if bowled) and the replay does not start. I am investigating why it happens.

If you get this and notice some distinctive signs as to why it might be occurring, please let me know.

The only thing to fix it currently is to restart the game. Which sucks.

Thanks for your patience.

Batting configuration updates

I have released a patch today so that the batter can select either left or right handed batting. They can also adjust the angle of bat to the controller.

I have tested a lot but of course, please let me know of any game breaking issues.

If you start the game without a controller, it should find it once you activate your controller. If it still is not connected, for now unfortunately you need to wait another minute and restart the game.

Initial Release - patching the cracks

The first updates for the released game will be looking to allow a batter to:

Reset Controller
Change bat angle

If anyone has any requests that you would consider essential to adjust for your VR comfort, please reply to this.

Cheers

Final Release before the ashes!

Hi all,

Its been a while since I updated the game and due to a number of circumstances I could not work on it as much as I wanted to. However, I did spend some time looking at and experimenting with a bunch of the possible features I mentioned in previous news posts.

The final update will implement the free hit mechanism, which is basically a giant floating target you have to try to hit. Hit it, and your runs are free for that delivery :)

After that I will tweak and adjust minor bugs or playability issues. The games planned final release is sometime just before the ashes start in late November.

The features at final release time will be:

- Single or local multiplayer modes
- 3 types of matches - 5, 10 or 20 over match.
- 3 difficulty levels.
- HTC Vive/Oculus compatible.
- Adjustable batting line and length.
- Batting sweet spot.
- AI fielders that adjust to your big shots.
- Batters get weaker further down the order.
- Adjustable line, length and speed for the bowler player in local multiplayer.
- Adjustable fielders in local multiplayer
- Crowd noise and reactions to shots, wickets and other moments.
- Scoreboards both in game and for the desktop with detailed batter information.
- Multiple views for Batter and bowler.
- Action replays
- Free hit feature - hit the giant target.

June updates coming soon

Hi all,

Thanks for any interest in this game.

Included are a couple of the latest screenshots in development

A few significant changes to the game in the next update (mid to late June) -

* a replay is shown on the big screen for the VR player and on the desktop for the non VR player.
* The replay is a close up shot of the batter striking the ball, and it then switches to the tv camera view thats currently shown on the desktop when bowling.
* The batter now has control to proceed after each delivery (and adjust their base batting position if required). During this time is when you see the replay.

Cheers

Batting position change and other future updates

Hi all,

I have made a change to the batting setup. Between each over you can chage the batting base position.

This is something for the standing experience version.
For room scale you likely wont need to adjust it.

My next 2 focus areas are

* online multiplayer.
* a replay system to see your shot.

Cheers

Game updates

Hi all,

I have added some fixes to the game.

* It is easy to smack a six most of the time, even on the hard level. To address this I have added a change to the cricket bat. It now has the concept of a sweet spot. You will get haptic feedback from the controller. Now you will need to time your shots better.

* In easy mode, the fielders are slightly faster.

* AI smarter - The fielders have stopped being complete peanuts. They will adjust their positions if you hit a 4 or 6.

* As you go down the order the batters get worse. Your opener can hit the ball well, your number 6 not as well.

* Generally Improved graphics. You should have a smoother experience now.

Any issues please let me know asap.
Cheers

Released

Alpha is away.

Features to come:

* power ups (think rings in the sky) to aim for to get a bonus hit.
* better fielding AI
* batting order weakens as you go down the list (so you openers can smash it, while the tailenders are lame ducks)

Please report any bugs or problems to the discussion board and I will view them and respond as soon as I can.

I welcome any constructive feedback on how I can make the game better.

Thanks for waiting on the release.
