SquareWorld 1.2.4 - Armor and Weapons



Another version before the bigger 1.3 update!

  • weight of armor now decreases weapon speed, below your armor slots are stats
  • added light helmet
  • added light armor
  • added splitter - a massive, slower sword
  • charged weapon strikes now deal 200% instead of 300% damage
  • villagers now buy everything
  • you can sit on furniture!
  • 5 more songs for instruments
  • all materials can be repaired now (on the grindstone)
  • tools with XP shows the amount of free modifier slots
  • the map can be dragged by mouse
  • the players current system and planet is marked on the map
  • fixed flying villager bug
  • added 2 keys to tutorial - use F to rotate a furniture
  • the furniture creators slot has an icon and description pointing out that it needs materials to work
  • fixed high network usage when a guardian stucks in a block
  • fixed infinite acceleration by using items with knockback


So, what's next?
In addition to the quests and the improved blacksmithing the todo list received some updates:

  • A modding API, powered by the Steam Workshop
  • Some improvements to the recipe book like splitting up furnace and blast furnace to avoid confusion
  • The clothes earlier selectable in the character appearance menu will be equipment, craftable on the planned tailoring table
  • A better structure spawning system which tries to avoid to collide with the spawn location

Squareworld 1.2.3 - New Character Models



We tried our best to find something in the middle of a human and the current potato design and here they are: 7 different models with the added neck as a main improvement.

However, this isn't the biggest feature coming along this version: hair! Hair improves the look if the character, gives them even more individualism and can be colored!

In addition, they are a few bug fixes and changes to mention:
The boss has less health now
The portal recipe became less expensive
The chat now supports all characters
The buttons in the map section are more visible
3 more paintings
Fixed 2 crashes. I apologize for the two affected player, you helped a lot to find and fix the issue.

Tired of the old Blob? Soon there will be help! The old Blobby himself planned to shape up a bit and pressed himself into different body shapes and he also grew some hair.

Furthermore Blobs wont be the only "intelligent" Species on the planet anymore, dwarfs are going to join the race of the Blobs.

SquareWorld version 1.2.1



version 1.2.1 was a major bug-fixing update, but also includes some important new content:

  • tutorial: when playing the first time or when pressing F1 a tutorial will pop up
  • graphics: background, clouds and temperature effects improve the look of the game
  • music: added 4 new tracks for cave explorations and boss battles
  • new server: thanks to
    Zap-Hosting multiplayer now runs even smoother
  • improved spawning of entities, enemies won't spawn the first day
  • added rings as an additional protection, they will gain more importance with the next update
  • mobile chisel for faster chiseling
  • increased performance of entities by 40%, rendering by 30%
  • the map now looks much fancier
  • the menu got some new background textures
  • unfinished achievements now blink
  • added a few more deco blocks
  • added a few more skins/hats
  • special slots like armor now have icons

  • no more rain sounds deep under the ground
  • the player can no longer hit the entity you are sitting on
  • Airships can now carry more than one player
  • fixed not showing the result in the anvil when two player are working at the same time
  • lava now emits light (and heat)
  • fixed dinomites now closing once hit
  • improved temperature generation on new planets
  • improved recipe book
  • better anvils not only look better, but have a small inventory included
  • new portals are no longer set to planet 1
  • fixed modifiers applied on the grindstone
  • fixed a few minor things regarding inventory GUI

So, what's next? Here is the plan, but your feedback/suggestions can change it:

new weapons, armor, modifier and magic allowing you to choose a class to master
more backgrounds for different planets
3-5 semi-bosses and puzzles protecting the boss, making the game less linear
quests: next to random quests villager have for you quests will also guide the player through the possibilities of the game, since it is hard to explore everything alone. Quests will not replace the achievements tree, but expand it.

more bosses
races: your race changes your appearance and your start equipment
every sector of the universe has an own villager race, own planet theme and own boss
brewing: from potions to fiery swords and electrified armor is everything included

version 1.5
steampunk technology
nothing mega complex, just boilers, pipes and machines to expand crafting, build epic steampunk machines and more.
