Valentine's Day/Lunar New Year Event is LIVE!

Lunar New Year/Valentine's Day event has begun (sorry, we're late!). It will end February 29th! Those who play the game during this event will receive the following:

-Heart Glasses - humans/squids
-Year of the Rat Ears - humans only
-Squid Heart Helmet
-Squid Love Tank
-Squid Winged Torso
-And all previous cosmetics for this event

NEW STUFF
-IN-GAME CUSTOMIZATION! You can now customize your character while in-game, without having to return to the main menu!
-New weapon info panels! When nearby a weapon locker, the info panel now shows weapon statistics instead of a description of the weapon
-Valentine's Day customizations and sprays
-Lunar New Year visuals
-Added a visual effect to the health bar when a unit's health is regenerating

BALANCE CHANGES
-AI Squid bowl move speed reduced to 75% of player-controlled Squid bowl move speed
-Shield Overcharge has been redesigned. The area around the user now lasts 8 seconds, and grants each Squid soldier ally it touches a 75-health shield that lasts 8 seconds. Multiple Shield Overcharges from different users will stack
-Rifle and Chemical Launcher have received a new property, "Anti-Shields". Weapons with the Anti-Shields property deal 2x damage to shields

BUGFIXES
-Early Adopters DLC fixed
-Several performance optimizations that will hopefully allow the game to run better for most players
-Mutator shortcut hotkey on keyboard is now M instead of TAB\Mouse3
-Boost ramps will no longer attempt to launch vehicles going in the opposite direction of the boost
-Various fixes to map geometry and collision in Sunrise Heights
-When using gamepad, the targeting reticle of the player-driven Ice Cream Truck in Sunrise Heights will now follow the rotation of the vehicle (eg, if you turn, the reticle will rotate with the turn)
-When driving the player-driven Ice Cream Truck in Sunrise Heights, the truck-launched explosives will add the vehicle's velocity to their initial throw velocity
-Ice Cream Truck explosives should no longer appear stretched in practice mode
-Increased respawn invincibility time to 2.5s, from 1s. This mostly affects respawning with the Rise From Your Grave mutator active
-AIs should no longer attempt to return to base and heal if the Permadeath mutator is active, since the base healing volume is disabled while that mutator is active
-Fixed a bug that was causing servers to think there were players connected when there weren't, causing them to incorrectly stay active forever
-Medpack icons now properly disappear from the map when their associated medpack is on cooldown
-Various tweaks to fonts and visuals in some UI elements
-During the MVP lineup in the end-of-round flow, all elements of each MVP candidate's display now correctly set their visibility
-Practice Options Map\Mode Selector now properly checks whether it's being called from the main menu or not, and allows the "nuke" cinematic to play if called from the main menu
-Ammo and sprint bars now properly update when driving a vehicle
-Unoccupied vehicles can no longer pick up medpacks
-Players who own the Officer's Commission DLC should no longer see gift bag icons on certain customizations
-Added static resource map indicators in Sunrise Heights
-In practice mode, AIs on the opposite team should no longer sometimes get stuck in a loop when trying to pick up a weapon from a locker
-Friends List entries for friends running a different version of SQUIDS should now display properly

Just some small fixes and more cosmetics for you!

NEW
- Rudolph's Red Nose
- Squid Reindeer Helmet
- 4 new Winter-themed Sprays (Ho Ho Ho, Naughty, Nice, Stocking)

BUGFIXES
- Minisquid Gun damage-over-time effect can now properly affect squidified humans
- Ending a KotH game while a hill is active no longer causes that hill to get stuck in an unintended, partially-active state
- Fixes for the Scoreboard, Squid Power Bar, End of Round names, and other UI elements
- The "Slo-Mo" mutator can no longer be incorrectly added to a random mutator list
- Nudged one of the 4x4s in the human base a bit so you don't get stuck inside the other 4x4 upon exiting
- Fixed a bug that would let you use Squid technologies when you didn't have enough energy for them by using a certain technique

SQUIDS FROM SPACE HOLIDAY UPDATE IS LIVE!




HEY YOU GUUUYS! It's finally here! So excited to announce we've finally released another map! WELCOME TO: SUNRISE HEIGHTS! A small, peaceful residential community built on a scenic hilltop. While most of its residents have fled in a futile attempt to escape the ongoing global conflict, one particularly dedicated member of the community has decided to stay behind & fortify it against anyone who dares enter. Beware!



This also marks this patch as the official update for our Winter event! SQUIDMAS ends January 10th, so get in there & grab your winter cosmetics!

NEW
- Sunrise Heights Map has been added to our map rotation!

- Screen edge icons now point players in the direction of the objectives.
- Health packs now have icons on the map!
- Reindeer Antlers

CHANGES/FIXES
- Updated all Squid bowl glass on helmets to fit patterned glass colors better
- Fixed a bug in King of the Hill that made it so that certain objective areas would never be chosen as the first map objective
- Animated badges now properly animate while in a Mech
- Tutorial fix -- the mutator voting menu should no longer open & break the tutorial if the player hits TAB or any of the other shortcut buttons
- Antimatterizer & Nanite Beam should work much better in high-latency environments
- Squid players can now sprint immediately after squidifying a human, as opposed to having to wait for the sprint cooldown if the human player had just sprinted
- Fixed an issue where our servers would get stuck in an invalid state (lagging so hard you can't even connect) in certain sitautions
- Grenades can now properly hit unoccupied vehicles
- Fixed a few bugs with the mutator voting menu
- On mutator servers, on server startup & whenever a new round starts with no mutator votes, a random mutator list will now be chosen with no "fatiguing" mutators (mutators that get less fun when activated for two rounds in a row) instead of using the same mutator list as the previous round (or an empty list on startup)

The 2019 Steam Awards is here! Since going live in Early Access on Steam in 2017, our small little team has been working tirelessly with our amazing community to develop our passion project, SQUIDS FROM SPACE.

We've had many ups and downs here at the studio, but we continue to push through in hopes to build a game that brings people of all kinds to play, laugh, and bond together through fun, hilarious game-play that is easy for anyone to pick up and join.

NEW

- Accolade badges! Every accolade now has a badge associated with it that will appear on your character
- MUTATORS!! You can join a [Mutators] server from the Find Game UI! Mutators are special rules that players can vote on every round -- mix and match them to create some SERIOUS MAYHEM!! Be warned: Mutators are NOT intended to be balanced for super serious gameplay! We added them so players can mix things up when they want to play a sillier or more chaotic game mode. This is a HUGE new system, and while we've worked hard on it, there are certainly still bugs -- if you see anything weird, please let us know!
- May or may not have snuck in Human Cat Ears for those that played during the Halloween event (*teehee*)


BALANCE CHANGES

- Shield Overcharge duration reduced to 3s, from 6s


FIXES
- Certain units should no longer have slightly off-color health bars
- On Mars, moved MVP lineup slightly so that they are all placed on even ground

  • New DLC: Pay 2 Lose ($19.99 USD). Contains premium, exclusive cosmetic items like the Steampunk Assault Mech (with classy top hat!) or the Gemstone emblems. Guaranteed to distract your teammates and cause you to lose the game! We will also be continuing to add MORE CONTENT into this DLC as thanks for your generous support <3

  • Early Adopter pack: If you purchased SQUIDS FROM SPACE before it went free-to-play, you get the Officer's Commission AND Pay 2 Lose DLC packs FOR FREE!!! You'll also receive the Founder accolade and the Crown cosmetic headgear, which are available EXCLUSIVELY in this pack!
  • New customization item type: Accolades. Equipping an accolade attaches a title to your name, such as "Captain" or "Elite Invader". Accolades were in the game previous to this, but were determined by your level. Now, you can choose which one you want to equip!
  • New customization item type: Sprays. Equipping a spray lets you place the spray image anywhere on the map during play!
  • New customization item type: Emblems. Equipping an emblem changes the visual icon next to your rank number!
  • Added 'Randomize' button to customization menu. Let the game pick your look for you!


HALLOWEEN EVENT



  • Halloween comes early this year! All maps have been redecorated with a spooky Halloween theme! Special Halloween 2019 event items coming later this month! Event ends November 13th. Play now to claim your Halloween cosmetics!




BUGFIXES



  • Many UI tweaks and updates!
  • Specific AI personality types should now spawn more reliably based on how many non-AI players are on their team.
  • "Pressure" audio (aka THE BEES) will no longer sometimes play after a round has ended.
  • Harvesters should no longer be able to pick up multiple civilians or 3+ objects at the same time.
  • Player rank will no longer sometimes incorrectly display as 0 or -1.
  • Updated scoreboard layout to align more nicely with other UI elements, like the kill feed.
  • Round time elapsed no longer resets to 0 when a round ends.
  • AI squid bowls will no longer target non-squidifiable units.
  • Spectators can now see ammo bars and sprint bars for all players.
  • Flag carriers should no longer rarely be able to sprint while carrying the flag.
  • Several bugfixes addressing issues that were sometimes causing gamepad users' UI to get stuck in odd states.
  • Join Random Team option on the team selector no longer incorrectly stays greyed out in certain situations.
  • Characters are now pushed off of other characters' heads if they land on top of them.

- Servers will now correctly load a random map after 5 minutes of being idle, instead of always loading Main Street CTF
- Exiting an Assault Mech will put you in weird locations less often
- Adjusted the flag force-drop areas in Moonbase so they don't stick out into playable space
- In Capture and Hold, the "about to win" audio should now always play properly
- Reduced dogs' vertical hitboxes so they no longer block bullets at chest height
- Players will no longer sometimes break dance as their death animation :disappointed:
- Fixed *most* clipping for Human's Beach Top / Sports Top
- 'Time Spent Blocking Enemy Capture MVP' stat now requires a minimum amount of time in order to be considered
- Flag-related MVP stats should now qualify for consideration more often
