HERE WE GO! It's v1.5 time, Renegades! Thank you so much for your patience!
As a special gift to you legacy players, we've got a new batch of content specifically for those of you who have beaten the game a bunch of times! In addition, there's also a long-requested feature: being able to recruit Progeny mid-run.
Oh, and a new hero! Actually, yeah, this is a massive update!
You may have seen we're releasing it to the wild next week, but in the meantime, go nuts! As always, we'd love for you to give any feedback (and, of course, bug reports!) to our discord! Come say hi!
Thanks again, Playing-With-Fire-ers!
Improvements & Fixes
• New secret ending specifically for legacy players! • Finish the game with a squad made up ENTIRELY of heroes whose overseer counterparts have been defeated, and you'll have the chance to enter the Imperium home dimension and bring the fight to them! • By successfully defeating the Imperium in their home dimension, you'll unlock a special hero: the Dark Paragon • For this purpose, you'll notice new insignias on the Squad Selection Screen and recruitment screens indicating who has and hasn't had their overseer counterpart defeated. • To do this, you first need to help Professor Zurek decode a mysterious new Imperium Dimension transmission by securing Imperium cryptography devices. To find out more, you'll just need to play! • Be sure to join our Playing-With-Fire discord to give feedback. We'll be paying lots of attention over the next week! • Also, mid-run hero recruitment has been opened up to progeny as well!

The Prime Dimension Free Expansion is out December 16th!
December 16th is go-time! We've got you a one-way ticket to the so-called “Prime Dimension” -- the epicenter of the Imperium and the source of their invasions. Who knows what you’ll face on the other side, but I’ve got a feeling it ain’t going to go down without a fight. So, what are you waiting for, grub-worms?!? Gear up, lock and load, and tell J5 to tuck away his marshmallow kit because things are about to get serious!
[previewyoutube="j0jN9V1iSrE;full"]
The Prime Dimension includes:
A New Dimension: Take the fight right to the heart of the tyrannical regime by invading their home turf. It won't be easy, but you can finally put an end to the multidimensional menace that calls itself The Imperium!
New Opponents: New Behemoths arrive on the scene! They’re far more powerful than any opponent you have faced so far - so powerful that you'll get a sixth hero(!!!) to fight them with! That’s right, it’s PRIME TIME, baby!
Recruitable Progeny: Finally, you’ll be able to recruit Progeny / Hero Variants mid-run (presuming you’ve unlocked them, of course!) A New Ending: With the incursion into the Prime Dimension comes the climax of the Star Renegades' trials. After everything your squad’s have been through, witness the end of the Imperium's machinations and experience the finale of the story.
A New Renegade: The Dark Paragon - Recruit a potent new damage dealer who can steal health from your foes (with the aid of an alien parasite) and change forms in the middle of battle!
Just in time for the Steam Halloween Sale (hint hint, we're in it!) is the 1.4.2 update! We've got two new overseers to battle ̶ the Dragoon and Guardian! For players who have defeated all previous Overseers, expect to see the Dragoon and Guardian pop up. In addition to the new challenges, Star Renegades is now available in Japanese! ようこそ!

Update v1.4.1
A giant collection of Guardian fixes (and some balance changes), along with a pile of fixes to issues that have been around for a bit longer than that. Thank you to everyone who sent in feedback or reports about problems.
Improvements & Fixes
• Removed prestige cost for unlocking Guardian • The two COUNTER! announcements the Guardian had constantly should now be just one. • Fixed a few more instances where return-fire and overwatch attacks could trigger endless Guardian spirit gain has been fixed. • reduced Fury cost for Guardian / Aegis combo. • fixed issue where Guardian / Marksman combo wasn't appropriately piercing shields and armor • fixed some title strings for the tutorial pop-up headers • fixed some localization hookups for events wherein hero names would revert to english. • The Prycon abomination no longer disappears in certain circumstances on day 3 on Prycon if he has no inner areas to migrate to. Instead, he might migrate to a slightly outer area. NOTE: if the area he migrates to is locked, you can use the de-locking console to reach him. • The Prycon abomination now appropriately gains difficulty tiers no matter where it spawns. • Fixed an instance where the moon teleporter might not be visually represented • Abomination can no longer have their flea eating power redirected to attack a hero. • Evil Bentley's Hornswoggle now appropriately warns the player of redirects. • Guardian's Entity power now has alternate animations for the attacks • Guardian's Meld now has an animation. • Fixed a Norosh map that didn't have the hook-ins for eternalists or cruisers. • Combo Powers with health-drain mechanics now appropriately transfer health to BOTH heroes, not just one. • Fixed an issue where Stronghold could trigger health-draiining enemies to instantly explode in a ball of fiery death. • Fixed an issue where if the Guardian was your first ever casualty, it could result in a crashed event. • H'ppa Kur's elemental activation powers now have an animation. • Entity now bestows elemental damage to allies, as per the description of the power. • Fixed a corner case where J5T's bomb, when dying of a DOT effect could, paired with Stronghold could result in the player being able to continue the game without J5T. • Fixed a QOL issue wherein if the Marksman went from Sniper Mode directly into Defend, it would retain Sniper Mode's vulnerability effect. Now the vulnerability gets nullified upon the use of the defend power. • Fixed an issue where, when the Spectre was Marked, her Stealth power was totally hidden from the power list, instead of just being greyed out. • Fixed an issue where the Centurion wasn't using his satellite attack powers, and was instead not performing any actions in that round instead. • Fixed an issue causing Guardian's Stronghold to generate shields on allies when hit. • Night Call card is no longer able to self target (which would be an awful thing to do by mistake in a run) • Dragoon no longer has random bits of shield drain triggering between rounds. • Fixed an instance where a duplicate reward could spawn on an Imperium battleship area. • Fixed a structural impediment to generating save packs for Gamepass players.
Balance
• Switched out the Guardian's Punisher Perk for an Ironclad Perk instead. • After dying, Guardian's health is set to 33% rather than 1%. • Stagger points are no longer reduced by non-Crit attacks.

Hellllllloooo! So, seriously, this will be the last update on PWF in a little bit. There's some known issues regarding enemy behaviours acting weird (little skipped turns here and there) as well an issue where instant-firing aoe attacks can cause soft locks if you trigger them too quickly to one another, but those are going to take a bit more time to fix and/or test. We'll get on those as soon as we can though. In the meantime, enjoy!

A few last-minute fixes that we'll be pushing into the default branch with our large 1.4.1 update (containing allll the fixes pushed in the last two weeks!)
NOTE: We've pushed a bit of a stagger system adjustments, whereby non-crit attacks with stagger will no longer reduce the target's stagger points. We'd love to hear feedback on the change. It reduces frustration, adds a bit more stagger dynamism and simplifies things a bit. All those things are a plus to us, so we're going to go with it on PWF branch and see how everyone likes it!
