Small patch to fix a problem when loading a game

One user reported a bug to me, that when loading a saved game, everything crashes. And by sending in a bug report using the built-in bug report system, I was able to track down the culprit and hopefully fix it. The reason I write hopefully is because I wasn't able to reproduce it myself.

Even so, I added some more lines to the logfile, which will help identify the exact location of the problem, if there still is one :-)

New feature added

I've added a new little functionality which will help me eliminating those rare bugs that can pop up from time to time.

In the options menu, a new button is available : "Other"

This will enable you to send in the log file for your previous game to me. This log file contains game related data and most importantly, bug dumps if the game has crashed.

So help me to help you get an even better game, by sending in those logfiles whenever you experience a problem :-) - Please note though, that the button is only visible when you access options from within an active game.

At the same time, I have fixed a bug in the parcel delivery mission, where the reward was cut down to almost nothing if you reloaded the game on the same planet as where you needed to delivery the package.

Game updated to version 1.10

I have updated the game files with a small bug fix for the ship name in the mission where you need to deliver 20 pearls. The ship name kept getting added to itself, making it larger and larger. This has now been fixed :-)

You are so great! The game is updated.

I am so grateful that you players take the time to report bugs and annoyances when you find them. This really helps make my game better and better.

Today I have released another small bug fix to address some of the annoyances from clicking on dialogs and accidently firing your laser. Specially annoying when you're at a space station and get fined for it! Well, no more! Now you only fire your laser if the mouse pointer is not above a dialog :-)

I have released version 1.09 to address this.

Game updated to v1.03

One of you amazing players discovered another one of those rare bugs I haven't been able to produce or reproduce myself and it has now been fixed.

You see, in the rare event that the game discovers a game crashing bug, it will pop up a small dialog, asking you to upload the crash data to me. If you agree, a small log file is sent to me and I get a notification mail in my mail box. This particular error that was spottet at 01.54am this night has been fixed, here at 11.31am same day, so the report a bug feature works great!

So if you experience any game crashing bugs, dont hesistate to press 'Yes' and send off that bug report :-)

Game updated to v. 1.02

I have just released a new version which fixes a crashing bug, that occurs if you land on a live animal farm without having a cargo compartment attached on your ship.

So update your game to version 1.02 and keep on exploring.

You can see your current version number in the lower right corner of the main menu.

Small update to v1.01

The first update for Stardust

I have added a new option in the Options-screen. Enable mouse shooting. If this is turned off, the ships laser wont fire when you press the mouse button. Convenient to reduce the number of fines given on a starport for shooting in the safe zone.

I also fixed a rare bug, that could occur when you take off from a space station.

Hints and tips for Stardust Origins

Here I will list some good hints and tips for starting out in Stardust Origins. I hope they will be useful to you all:

Quickly move on from The Void

When starting the game, you're located in The Void - The Void are empty areas in a star system and are useful for asteroid mining and space snake hunting. In the beginning of the game, you just want to move on. Select another planet in the same star system and press that 'Engage' button.

Fly faster on planets

When entering a planet you're often a long way from a space station. Use Time compression (default key E) to let time pass faster and thus fly you faster on a planet.

Have patience doing battles

First of all, avoid battles as much as you can, until you have a better ship, with armour and a larger laser. You will quickly be shot to pieces without it.

An easy way to earn cash

Take on those small parcel missions, where you have to fly to another station and deliver stuff. They're usually easy and give a good income.

A fast way to riches

Locate a bank on a space station and take out a loan. This will help you upgrade your ship faster, and let you get on with cargo trading, pirate killing and asteroid mining.
You could also use your bank loan to buy shares on the stock market

I will write more hints and tips in the discussion sections :-)

For me it has been a long journey, where I have learned a lot about coding, management, advertising and perserverence. I am so happy that I can call this game finished, and that it turned into the game I wanted to make.

I hope you will like my game as much as I do and that you will find many hours of entertainment in it.

Release date has settled

Development of Stardust Origins has come so far, that I am confident in saying that the release date will be february 2, 2022.
