Update #7 kickstarter
Well, the campaign is over.
Happily, we made it to our $51,538 mark, and we have nothing but the most heartfelt of thanks for all of you. We wouldn’t have made it without you, and that’s a credit to our community and everyone who saw us for the first time on Kickstarter.
Your support has been with us throughout the 30-day campaign, something we don’t have words to describe.
So what now?
Right now we’re heading back to work so that we see you all in the game next year. You’ll get your key as soon as the game is released to Steam.
We’re really excited to be at this stage, so we’ll be in touch with each of you individually about your rewards.
Update #6 kickstarter
Welcome to yet another update! This one will be shorter, and we’d like to focus on an idea we’re working on. We have just three days left before the end of the campaign, so we need you now more than ever!
And don’t forget that you can earn 11% cash back for helping us spread the word using Kickbooster.
Small airship
Think of small and large airships as the destroyers and battleships, respectively, of the sky. The big airships are armored fortresses bristling with main battery guns, while their smaller cousins are fast, maneuverable, and cheap. That makes them important components of your aerial strategy: if you see an enemy squadron bearing down on you, just throw up a couple small airships to intercept and slow them down. They’re also perfect for reconnaissance missions, outrunning pursuers, taking you to remote mineral deposits, and waltzing off for an afternoon picnic on a picturesque island (there’s no point powering up a big airship just for that!). Don’t forget that small airships can play a combat role as well. They may only have one turret, but they can drop off a landing party to take over an enemy fortress or team up to take down one of their big brothers.
Finally, here are the next newspaper releases from the Steam Hammer world for you to enjoy.
Dear friends, welcome to our next update! Today we’ll be unveiling a bit more about the game. We’d also like to take a moment to remind you that our campaign is ending in exactly one week. Your help is more important than ever before, so we’re counting on you to push us through the finish line. Thank you so much for believing in and supporting us. Don’t forget that today is always the best day to tell your friends about us!
You can also use Kickbooster to get 11% cash back. But let’s get down to the good stuff.
Farming
SteamHammer lets you grow fruits, vegetables, and even trees. You’ll need those fruits and vegetables for cooking, while trees give you building materials. And there’s a whole list of things you have to do before you can harvest: find special sprouts, prepare the soil, plant the sprouts, and fertilize them to make sure you get a high-quality yield. Trees are planted using a similar process, and they give you high-quality wood. Farmer abilities also give you access to the Acribo Islands’ unique substance: invaluable celebrium!
Calculating damage
The game’s damage system is pulled from Life is Feudal, though we modified it to include firearms. There’s no such thing as “standard” damage; the damage done by each hit is calculated using a number of factors. Those include the speed of the weapon (or shell), its quality and weight, and where the hit landed (an arm, the head, or something else). The target can also be protected by armor (with a variety of qualities available!), and, of course, you have to start by hitting it. Strikes in hand-to-hand combat can be blocked or dodged, while weapon spread is also important—it’s tough to hit faraway targets using a shotgun or pistol.
As per the usual, we’re publishing the next few newspaper issues to give you more of a glimpse into the SteamHammer world.
Friends, our project is halfway to the finish line, and we have just two weeks left until the campaign is over. But in the meantime, as always, we would like to show you something new from the Steam hammer world. If you feel so inclined, you’d be helping us a great deal if you shared our project with your friends.
City defense
It isn’t enough to just build a flourishing settlement in Steam hammer; you have to be able to defend it. After all, raiders can swoop in from the skies wielding the power of armed airships or march up on land. And you’ll need heavy guns if you want to take out those airships! But they aren’t invincible—smart captains keep them away from heavily defended sectors, as they aren’t strong enough to take on more than one or two turrets at a time. If you’re facing a powerful AA barrage, think about a land operation or special ops.
Animals
Steam hammer features a variety of animals that can be hunted or domesticated for their valuable meat. You can also use their skins and bones to craft a range of other goods. Just be careful when you’re out hunting: animals are unpredictable and sometimes attack! There’s nothing worse than being torn apart by the tusks of a sporeboar.
And in keeping with tradition, we’re also releasing the next few newspaper issues.

Steam Hammer is happy to announce that we now have more than 10,000 applications from players around the world, who would like to participate in our alpha test. With that in mind, we decided to speed things up a bit and launch a Kickstarter campaign so that everyone can do their part to make the game even better.
Everyone here at the studio would like to start off by voicing our thanks for your support. The interest you all have shown in our project is fantastic to see, and we’re happy to announce that we already have 30% of the initial sum we’re looking for.
We will do our best in upcoming updates to talk about Steam Hammer in more detail and give you some sneak peeks of what we’re working on.
