Today, you have a date with History again. Steelrising's “Cagliostro's Secrets" expansion is now officially out!

Pierre Brissot has disappeared and was supposedly taken to the Saint-Louis Hospital. But since the King closed the place two years ago, nobody knows what is really happening in there.
Could the secrets harbored in its abandonned walls hold the answers you are looking for? To find out, you will need to explore the depths of this eery area and face the dark forces at work.

Beware though, the best kept secrets are often the deadliest...

The New DLC "Cagliostro's Secrets" arrives on November 10th!

Did you think you were done with the revolution ? Not yet! The world of Steelrising still has secrets for Aegis to discover.

Mark the date in your calendar :

The New DLC "Cagliostro's Secrets" arrives on November 10th!

This DLC offers players a new level of gameplay, and includes new content:
• 1 level (Hôpital Saint Louis)
• 1 entirely new quest in the main story
• 5 weapons
• 1 boss
• Several new enemies and new variations of existing enemies
• 2 new characters
• New side quests that will invite you to revisit certain levels

In this new quest, you find yourself embroiled in a gripping story involving the King's agent, the Comte de Cagliostro. No one will return unscathed after exploring Hôpital Saint Louis – a new area whose secrets have been hidden by Louis XVI.

On this dark adventure, where you must outwit Cagliostro's Mesmer-inspired machinery, you will encounter new enemies and unlock new weapons and costumes. Are you ready to discover the shocking truth about the alchemy that powers the King's automatons?

How to play the DLC:

The expansion “Cagliostro's Secrets” becomes accessible once you have progressed past a certain point in the main story. You must have completed the level ''Bastille'' to gain access to the new content.

Players who reached the endgame will be able to reload their last save back to a previous spot in Versailles to do the content of the DLC (and thus lose progression from Versailles).

Players who have purchased the Bastille Edition have direct access to the DLC. For the other players, the DLC will be available as a standalone purchase.

The DLC patch will also bring various fixes and improvements to the game.

The fight continues on November 10th!

Steelrising PC FAQ

Since the release of the game, we have gathered the most frequent feedbacks and analyzed them to help you resolve your issues or answer your questions with Steelrising.

Although we hope that the FAQ can help you experience the game to its fullest, you can still report any other issue you encounter in-game by joining our Discord server (https://discord.gg/vwPKn8KeaY). There is a dedicated channel for it.

So here are the most frequently asked questions for Steelrising:

1. “Steelrising crashes when I try to launch it”

Example: Failed to create the DirectX12 rendering device. Error code 0x800004002

We recommend making sure that you’ve updated your Windows and GPU drivers to the latest versions.

2. “The game stutters and its FPS is not stable”

In the Advanced Video Parameters menu, a Video memory (VRAM) counter is available at the top of your screen (just below the “Graphics Quality”). It makes it easier to understand which settings are impacting your Video memory depending on your GPU’s capability. Selecting options that would take more Video memory than what is available on your GPU will alter your game experience negatively.

Note: there is a large gap between ‘Ultra’ and ‘High’ within the Texture Quality settings, we’d recommend altering this first if you’re struggling to reach the recommended Video memory limit.

3. “I cannot run the game in native 4K resolution”

If your GPU can’t run Steelrising with enough FPS in native 4K resolution, please use one of the available upscalers (Upscaling Parameter). We have 2 upscalers available in-game, DLSS by Nvisia and FSR by AMD, both are cross-manufacturer compatible, so try both to see how that affects performance and framerate.

4. “Even with the upscalers, I have trouble reaching a decent framerate”

If you set your upscalers in “Quality” (DLSS) or “Ultra Quality” (FSR), then we suggest switching them to Balanced/Performance instead.
You can also lower the native resolution to 1080p if you were in 2K, or 720p if you were in 1080p.

5. “It takes forever to load a level in the game”

We strongly recommend installing the game on a SDD to improve loading times.

6. “I can’t save the game and have to start over every time I launch the game”

Windows Defender or third-party antivirus can sometimes be over-protective with applications trying to create files in your “Documents” folder, thus preventing the game from creating your saves in the folder.
We suggest following the steps in the link below to solve this issue with Windows Defender:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/allow-an-app-to-access-controlled-folders-b5b6627a-b008-2ca2-7931-7e51e912b034

7. My save always brings me back to the credits... How can I play the NG+ or DLC content?

When you’ve reached the end of the game, the save automatically brings you back to the credits.
When NG+ is available, your endgame save will be able to be converted to a NG+ save, so you can play the game again on a higher level difficulty.
When the DLC releases, a special save will be deployed so that your character is brought back to a previous position instead to be able to explore further and access the DLC content, should you own it. Else, a prompt will appear before traveling to the last level to warn you as you'll be locked out of any further actions after the endgame.

8. What Achievements does the Assist mode prevent me from obtaining?

Here is the list of the Achievements you won’t be able to obtain if you use the Assist mode: Grenadier, Cold-blooded, Collateral Damage, Finish Him, Titan Assassin, David vs Goliath, The Aegis, Musketeer, AoE Specialist, and Completionist.
Please note that the added outfits in the NG+ and DLC will not be accounted for with the “Fashion Victim” Achievement.

We hope that the FAQ can help you experience Steelrising to its fullest. Be part of the Revolution!

Steelrising - New Game Plus is now available!

A brand new patch has been deployed on all platforms, and with it comes changes to Steelrising. Not only the introduction of New Game Plus, arguably the star of this patch, but a balance pass that overall should see the difficulty of the game shift upwards, and some store adjustments that should reduce reliance on cheese strats. Without further ado, let’s have a closer look together!

New Game Plus

This patch adds New Game Plus to Steelrising! It allows you to play the game again on a higher difficulty level while keeping your character’s progress (level, weapons, upgrades etc.).
There’s also new content to discover in New Game Plus:
  • Exclusive weapons to use;
  • A full exclusive outfit to discover;
  • Exclusive enemy variations (new skins, weapons and movesets) to fight.
All you need to do to enjoy the new content is to reach the end of the game. Once you have done so, your save will be automatically able to be converted to a NG+ save (and yes, should you already be at the end of the game, it will do so automatically as well), and a new option in the menu called “New Game Plus” will appear.

Fixes and Improvements

We also took the time to investigate and fix some reported issues, as well as provide improvements to other areas:
  • Fixed the endurance issue while using the Gaia’s Claws special move.
  • Fixed the infinite item glitch.
  • Fixed some Achievement issues:
    • Fixed the “Stabiliser” Achievement.
    • "Fashion Victim” can now be obtained.
    • Using the Assist mode won’t prevent you from unlocking Achievements anymore, and they will be credited retroactively, should you have met the necessary conditions to do so.
  • Fixed various issues related to sidequests.
  • Fixed and improved the cinematics and NPC dialogues.
  • Fixed and improved various audio issues.
  • Improved Aegis running animation.
  • Improvements to the lighting in the game.
  • Other various fixes and improvements.
The patch will also bring some balance changes within the main game for weapons, items, and mobs, mainly:
  • Increased damage, resistances and armor for Bosses.
  • Reduced damage, loot quantity and shop quantity for Grenades.
  • Reduced loot quantity on mobs for Alchemical Ammunitions.
  • Reduced loot quantity on mobs for Life Potions.
  • Reduced damage for the following weapons: Charleville 1789 Shield Musket, Charybdis Fan.
On that note, we hope that you’ll enjoy the new content to its fullest. We can’t wait to read everything you’ll share with us! Let’s dive into the Revolution even more and happy gaming!

New Game Plus is coming to Steelrising on September 29th!

The adventure isn’t over! For those who’ve seen the credits roll, get ready for a tougher experience in New Game Plus, which will let you bring your weapons, levels, gear, and upgrades, but the enemies will be bringing some improvements of their own. This along with some balancing tweaks (and the removal of some cheese strategies), should alter the experience for all players.

Read on for some more information, or join us on September 29th when New Game Plus will come to Steelrising.

What is the New Game Plus (NG+)?

It is a feature that allows you to play the game again – as it resets the quests – on a higher difficulty level while keeping your character’s progress (level, weapons, upgrades).

When will it be released?

The patch will be deployed on September, 29th. You can follow @PlaySteelrising on Twitter to stay updated on when exactly.

How will I be able to access it?

You’ll need to download the new patch when the NG+ is available.
Please note that, in order to access the NG+, you need to have reached the end of the game. Should you meet this condition, then all you need to do is select “New Game Plus” in the main menu. Your endgame save will be able to be converted to a NG+ save.

What will the patch bring?

The New Game Plus patch will include:
  • New NG+ exclusive weapons
  • 1 new NG+ exclusive complete outfit
  • Several NG+ exclusive enemy variations with new skins, new weapons, and as such, new movesets
  • Ingame balancing for the main game with the ice musketeer, the grenades and ammo, and some bosses
  • Some fixes for the main game.

In the meantime, you can check out the new accolade trailer, and join the discussion with @PlaySteelrising on Twitter, Discord, or Reddit.

The Assist Mode

Are you familliar with Soulslikes games? They come with their fair share of challenges. Hard to beat monsters, even harder Bosses; stamina management or finding your body where you last died not to lose everything you possess... All these features might be very appealing to you, if you like Souls like we do. Yet, it might also be seen as a drawback for those seeking to have a more story-driven experience or a less punitive gameplay. We wanted the game to enjoyed by everyone, thus the Assist mode.

What does the Assist Mode do?

The Assist Mode allows you to change a few settings that only impact your character, not the world around you, in order to help you tackle the challenges the way you prefer.

How to activate the Assist Mode?

When you start a New Game, you are asked if you want to enable it or not.

Note that if you do enable it, you lose the possibility to earn some trophies that are linked to the challenge.

You can enable/disable the Assist mode at anytime in the option settings.

What options can you play with?

You can change 4 aspects of the gameplay

  • The Damage reduction.
  • Keeping or not your Anima Essence after death.
  • The Endurance regeneration Speed.
  • The easy cooling system.
