Stickman Trenches

Our One Year Anniversary!

All year, the number one request we've received has been for workshop support. Well...it's here!

We're rolling out a custom map maker with Steam Workshop support. This means you can make and publish your own maps, or download and play maps produced by other members of the community.

What's included:

  • Variable map size - use the slider to make the map longer or shorter.
  • Trench Selection - place trenches with predefined upgrades, or even the latest...
  • Land mines - protect your trench with land mines placed in no man's land (Land mines are only available in custom maps.)
  • Decorative items such as tree stumps, barrels, and barbed wire can be placed in no man's land, but they're not just decorative - they'll impact troop movements and slow their progress.

In addition to this new feature, we've also listened to some complaints. Yes, the French Tanks were a bit over the top. That's fixed now. The French still have some great tanks, and they get them for less...but the research costs are higher to push them a little later in the game when other armies are better prepared to give them a good fight.

Now get out there and make some amazing maps, publish to the workshop, and have fun with Stickman Trenches!

Stickman Trenches - Strategy Fest

Steam Strategy Fest is starting today at 10am Pacific Time! Steam is highlighting games that require planning and strategy, forethought and discernment. Check out the event and see all the great games that are available!

We've planned a big update to coincide with the event and increase the strategic depth of Stickman Trenches. In our last update, we rolled out some faction specific units and achievements. Today, you get a new faction with their own unique unit and all factions now have a nation-specific tech tree branch for their specialty. On top of that, we're expanding our localization to include French and German.

New Faction: The Republic of France
The Tank Faction
In addition to the Machine Gun Tank and Tank, France has two additional tanks:

  • Medium Tank: the Saint-Chamond
  • Heavy Tank: the Char 2C
  • Unlocking tanks costs one less medal for France

All of these can be tried out on one of 3 new maps!

These updates will go live at the start of the event, so be sure to set a reminder!

Be sure to let us know what you think of the new features, and post some screenshots of all the great things you do with the new tanks!

Stickman Trenches v1.3.0 Update

Now here by popular demand: Faction Specific buffs, units, and abilities! The UK and Imperial Germany now have some features to give them a more unique playing experience.

UK:

  • The Artillery Faction
  • Special Ability: Creeping Barrage; align far edge of targeting zone with enemy trench, fire, and then tell your troops to charge. Rows of small shells will land in front of your troops and screen their approach. Time it right and you'll devastate your enemy just before your troops arrive. Time it wrong, and you'll troops will either be exposed or, worse yet, fall under friendly fire!
  • All artillery abilities cost fewer stars to use.

German Empire:

  • The Infantry Faction
  • Special Unit: Stormtrooper: armed with a submachine gun and grenades (without having to research them first), this unique unit can fire on the run as it approaches an enemy trench.
  • Unlocking Infantry Units costs 1 less medal.

Many of you noticed achievements pop up on the store page a while ago. We've been working out a few bugs and now have them fully implemented! So get in there and see how many you can earn.

You'll notice on the Faction selection screen a new, locked faction with a certain tricolor flag. Be ready next month for a big update to drop! More details will be coming soon.

Leave us some feedback, post screenshots of your creeping barrages and stormtroopers, and let us know how else we can make Stickman Trenches better!

Stickman Trenches v1.2.0 Update

We're proud to be a part of TactiCon this year! As part of the event, we wanted to roll out a big new feature!

Thanks to the great input from the community, we've greatly expanded the Research Tree to allow you to upgrade your infantry units as you play.

Here's how it works:

  1. Play and earn XP as you go.
  2. Use the XP to unlock upgrades on the tree in game. This is a permanent progression. Once you've unlocked it once, it stays unlocked!
  3. After unlocking the upgrade, you can research it using medals. This you'll have to do each game, giving you the opportunity to explore different upgrade combinations to defeat the enemy!

There are a few additional pages to the Guide (available in the upper left of the Main Menu) to show you how to access it. Just click the rank insignia in-game to bring it up, hover over the icons to see descriptions, click to unlock/purchase the upgrade. That's it!

You may also notice at the top of the screen, there are a couple more research tree categories that are currently locked. We have tank tech, artillery tech, and defensive tech in the works now! More to come on that soon.

As always, let us know what you think of the update! If you have ideas to expand the research tree further, we want to hear them!

Stickman Trenches - TactiCon

TactiCon, hosted by Hooded Horse and Firesquid, is starting today! This digital convention celebrates games centered on strategy and highlights some of the best games in the genre. We couldn't be more honored to be selected for participation in this great event!

As part of the event, we're making the Stickman Trenches Demo available during the convention. If you haven't played it yet, give the demo a try. Demo players will even get to test out a new feature - the Research Tree - before the full release in an update soon!

Stickman Trenches - FGS Spring Showcase

The Future Game Show Spring Showcase will be presenting many of the best new and upcoming games on consoles and PC. You can watch on GamesRadar's Twich channel, Facebook page, YouTube channel, Twitter, and their website, gamesradar.com.

Look for Stickman Trenches during the show and, if you haven't played it yet, give the demo a try. It will be available for a short time after the show, after which time the game can be purchased on the Steam Store.

Stickman Trenches v1.1.0 Update

We've integrated Steam Cloud into Stickman Trenches! That's right, as we roll out new maps and new content, you'll have to unlock them as you go. Play maps on Easy and Normal to unlock Hard and Brutal Mode. Each mode earns stars you can use to unlock the next map. Standby for future updates where this functionality will grow into new units and tech!

v1.1.0 Update Notes

  • Integrated Steam Cloud and Progression
  • Added Spanish Language Localization
  • Adjusted Endless Mode wave progression to increase difficulty as we continue to endlessly refine endless mode.

Stickman Trenches v1.0.4 Patch

Endless mode had an end...there was a bug that some players were encountering where the enemies stopped spawning. That's bad. We fixed it. Hooray!

v1.0.4 Patch Notes

  • Fixed bug in Endless Mode where enemies would stop spawning
  • Fixed a localization bug
  • Fixed bug with day/night and weather conditions becoming unstable

That's it. That's the patch!

Stickman Trenches v1.0.3 post launch patch

We're getting very close with v1.0.3. We hope you guys are enjoying all the changes and updates.

For the new recruits, we've added a Guide that you'll encounter the first time you ever play, and then later access them in the pause menu (in the upper left of the screen).

v1.0.3 Patch Notes

  • Added a glowing outline to the UI for cards that you haven't chosen yet, to make them easier to notice.
  • Added HP bars for the tanks.
  • Changed the flamethrower unit bug where they could fire outside of the HQ base's range.
  • Added brief visual guide to help players get started.
  • Locked Brutal Mode - if you enjoyed it, don't worry, it'll be back and better than before!

Stickman Trenches v1.0.2 post launch patch

We at Big Play have been thoroughly going through the discussion boards and the Steam Reviews to find the issues, both big and small, that we can change. Changing them as fast as possible to make sure that everyone is able to play and enjoy Stickman Trenches. Here are the patch notes:

Bug Fixes, Screen Resolution Support, and Other

  • Support added for screen resolutions of all sizes, found in the settings
  • Some bug fixes
  • Disabled the Weather Effects by default, can be turned off/on in the settings
  • Disabled the Day-Night Cycle by default, can be turned off/on in the settings
  • Temporarily added NEW Brutal Difficulty for testing and feedback

One of the issues we had at launch was we didn't have support for multiple screen resolutions. As of patch v1.0.2 we've rectified that and given support to screens of all sizes. In update v1.0.1 that we dropped last night we also addressed UI scaling as some players experienced issues on ultrawide monitors. Together with these two patches that we've updated in the last 36 hours since launch we hope that solves the majority of the issues our players have had with screen resolutions and the UI. If anyone has any more issues please reach out to us in the bugs/issues thread in Discussions at our Steam Community section, and we'll endeavor to promptly fix it.

As discussed in yesterday's v1.0.1 patch notes, we'll have more information coming to you soon. Including our roadmap plans for support and continued content updates in the near future. We'll also be dropping another patch update very soon, hopefully even today, to put in a guide and fix some more bugs and issues that players are having.

We've got a grand strategy and plan that we'd like to stick to, so stay frosty and we'll see you in the trenches.
