Weekly progress update #30: Dive into a good Catalog!
In short
Catalog rework!
List of changes
Catalog
Fixed a ton of bugs introduced by the changes done last week.
Arrow keys and scroll wheel can be used to flip pages now.
Fully recreated the original look/layout, with some visual improvements.
Various concepting for how to best introduce part subcategories, while sticking to the original 'sticky note bookmarks' navigation style.
Major internal restructuring.
Support for multi-SuperID part categories.
More persistent part cache.
Misc
Notably improved performance within Catalog, CarInfo, ClubInfo and Main menu - leaving the Garage loaded while these are open caused some performance reduction.
Fixed one of the Dialog types potentially crashing the game.
Improved the CarInfo blueprints for the Naxas, Coyot, Axis, and 99% completed the blueprint for the Ninja - the style standards for these are still being refined :)
The streets of Valo need more personalities! Check out some interesting rewards in the crowdfunding thread! :) https://steamcommunity.com/app/1571280/discussions/0/3053988806896458547/
More news surely await your eyes next week! Stay tuned! :)
Fixed some OSD elements blocking clicks/right-drag.
Added cheat: "CODRIVER" - Type this into the console during Race Setup, to enable the 'best route' navigator line from SLRR!
Navigation line of "CODRIVER" cheat
Changed style to fit SL1's themes.
Fixed disappearance after some time during longer races.
The line is no longer static! It is 'eaten' as you travel along, and readjusts route on-the-fly as needed!
Increased curve quality, also switching to a lower-quality (but still better than before) variant for extremely long routes.
The line can be adjusted to follow a different route by right-clicking the map, if you'd like to take a different route than what's suggested, and want the line to reflect that. This uses a sort of 'waypoint' system, which may get more use in post-launch updates or mods for other purposes :)
These line 'waypoints' order themselves automatically, and thus can be added at any point near the route in any order! To remove them, just right-click near an existing 'waypoint' again!
Race Setup experiment: Opponent route bonus
In SL1, if your prestige matches or exceeds that of the opponent, you are allowed to choose the finish line of the race; This is very exploitable, but as some no doubt enjoy the fast progression, the ability to do this is not getting restricted.
To encourage more 'legitimate' play, however, we are doing an experiment: If given the chance to choose the route, you allow the opponent's choice to remain, then the max bet is increased by ~20% (varies per club). This is to encourage taking the likely longer and more dangerous routes, for some extra potential reward!
Bet bonus is removed upon moving the finish line within Race Setup, and can be restored by either placing the finish line back where it initially was, or by trying to increase the bet past it's default maximum, which will reset the finish line.
To avoid unintended resets when maxing out the bet, a small warning is given, after which you need to press the bet increase button again to confirm.
Being an experiment, this feature may be removed or changed during playtesting - we'll see how it goes. :)
Catalog
No longer unloads the garage - can be opened and closed very quickly, without any loading screen!
Garage menu function-row hotkeys work within the Catalog too now.
Remade some absolute basics of the SL1 catalog - work will continue next week!
Misc
In the Garage, the Sell hotkey is no longer exclusive to first person mode - hover a part within inventory and press the hotkey to bring up the part sell dialog! This may not sound very useful at first, but you can combine this with the Enter key while keeping the cursor in place to very quickly chew through parts to sell! SL1 does not feature a 'sell all parts' function like SLRR does, so this provides a solid alternative. :)
Completed CarInfo blueprint for the Naxas, improved the Badge blueprint (again), and fully completed the blueprint of the Coyot. Thanks once again to Medek for helping with these! :)
