Last Thursday we released the long-awaited STRIDE Multiplayer and a hotfix a day later. Since then, we have been listening to your feedback and collecting information about the issues some of you faced. Currently, we are working on the next patch, which is scheduled for this Friday and aimed at fixing some of the most common problems. Thank you all for your patience!
Meanwhile, before the patch is released. If you’ve faced an infinite “Entering game” screen issue, you can try to avoid it by joining a friend’s match via your wrist watch, which is still accessible at the Loading Screen.
Please let us know about your experience in our Discord server.
Cheers, Joy Way Team
Server patch for STRIDE Multiplayer
Prior to this update, some users faced issues with joining a match due to the high load on the servers. It's the second hotfix since the release, and the servers should be much more stable now.
It may take up to 5 minutes to get into a game. If you get an error screen - press OK and try again.
Please let us know about how your experience changed after the update in the comment to this post or in our Discord server.

STRIDE - Multiplayer Update Now Live!
The game just received multiplayer game modes as a free update!
Bullet points on STRIDE Multiplayer
• 2 game modes at launch - Horde, King of the Hill; • 4 maps at launch; • Player hub with mini-games and training grounds; • Matchmaking system; • Social features like a voice chat, player avatar customization, gestures, etc.
Horde
In this mode, players take on the role of zombies or non-infected survivors. Survivors must avoid being touched by infected zombie players, while zombies must infect as many survivors as possible within the allotted time.
The main gameplay focus is on action packed parkour chases and escapes. The players must utilize their VR parkour skills to jump from ledges, dive under obstacles, and slide down cables to avoid infection or take down the remaining survivors.
King of the Hill
Grab a crown and wear it longer than other players to win. The crown goes to the player who tagged you.
Single-player content
Along with the multiplayer, we planned to release a content update to the existing offline game modes. But it's turning out to be even bigger than we expected, and could use some extra polish as well. Therefore, we decided that it deserves a separate release date. It will be released next month. The missing Time Run levels will become available the same time.
At the moment, we're releasing a minor update with bug fixes and improvements: • Now you can track your achievement progress (check the icons); • Improved texture loading speed in the Arena mode; • Improved performance (we fixed micro stuttering); • Bug fixes.
P.S. There are currently some issues with joining a match due to the high load on the servers. If you get an error screen - press OK and try again. Restarting the game may help as well. The patch for this problem is coming tomorrow.
We hope that you are just excited as we are. Have fun :)

Public Multiplayer Session - LIVE NOW - HOW TO JOIN
The multiplayer session starts exactly one hour after this update. The servers will go live at 7:00 pm UTC / 3:00 pm ET / 12:00 noon ET.
It seems that the playtest tool on Steam conflicts with our DRM protection, so playing the multiplayer will require a few extra steps.
If you haven't played STRIDE on Steam before:
You need to get a beta key for the game and activate it on Steam. Please, visit https://joyway-keys.electricminds.art/, take a key and follow the further instructions there.
You can start downloading and installing the game right now. Launch the beta branch of STRIDE called 'playtest'. If you can see the 'Multiplayer' button in the main menu - you're running the correct version of the game.
Also, STRIDE has a unique locomotion system, so we strongly recommend that you finish the tutorial first and practice in single-player modes before joining the multiplayer.
If you already own STRIDE on Steam:
1) Select the beta branch of the game. You can do it by right-clicking on the game in your library —> properties —> betas. Branch name - playtest. 2) Download the game. Launch the beta branch of STRIDE, and in the main menu you will see the 'Multiplayer' button. If it's there - you're running the correct version of the game. 3) our servers will go live at 7:00 pm UTC / 3:00 pm ET / 12:00 noon ET and will be up for 2 hours.
We'd be grateful for your feedback, so you can fill out this form after the session.
We hope you will have great fun!
The Multiplayer Update comes on June 9
Almost 2 years and dozens of updates later, STRIDE is leaving Early Access on Steam.
The game that has been a single-player title so far, will receive multiplayer game modes as a free update, and will continue developing in both directions.
It will be available from the main client, so you won't need a separate app to play the multiplayer.
We see STRIDE Multiplayer as a competitive game with a high skill ceiling, but at the same time with a room for more casual players who will find activities to their liking. Easy to learn, hard to master.
The first multiplayer mode for STRIDE is 'King of the Hill'. Grab a crown and wear it longer than other players to win. The crown goes to the player who tagged you.
The second one is a variation of the game of tag which is called 'Horde'.
At launch, the multiplayer will feature: • 2 game modes; • 4 maps; • Player hub with mini-games and training grounds; • Matchmaking system; • Social features like a voice chat, player avatar customization, etc.
.. and we are already working on future updates that will bring new modes, maps, social features like private lobbies, and other cool stuff that we don't want to spoil yet.
Along with the multiplayer, the full release will bring a major content update to the existing offline game modes. We will share more details closer to the release date, but for now we can say with confidence that hardcore and casual players, as well as fans of VR fitness, will definitely like it.
After the full release, STRIDE should be treated as a complete title. Nonetheless, we will continue to regularly update the game, and anticipating your next question, we do continue to work on single-player content with story elements, though our main focus for the near future will be on the multiplayer. More details for the mentioned story content, as well as its availability on different platforms, will be announced when we're ready.
The servers will go live on June 9 at 10am PT / 5pm GMT.
We hope that you are just excited as we are :)
Cheers, Joy Way Team
