today I want to give a brief look of the future of Desert Thunder. In the upcoming weeks there will be 3 new content updates. Each of them will deliver an new mission. This will make 10 Missions for Desert Thunder after these updates are released.
Desert Thunder: Strike Force will be renamed to Strike Force: Desert Thunder. The reason is not to confuse you, Desert Thunder was developed as a single game in mind. Strike Force will become a series of games and as of that I want to announce:
Desert Thunder will become a stand alone addon with a completly new setting, improved visuals, features and much more. Some of the features and improvements will also be available as a free update for Desert Thunder! This also does not mean the content updates for Desert Thunder will stop, they are on hold after the 3 upcoming content updates to focus on the new title.
More infos about the upcoming updates and the new Strike Force game will be available soon!
This mission is unlocked by completing the mission 'Operation Gatekeeper'. If you already finished 'Operation Gatekeeper', you need to finish it again to unlock the new mission.
If you want to play the previous build, you can always switch to it by choosing the prevbuild branch in the beta settings of Desert Thunder: Strike Force.
the first content update for Desert Thunder will be released next week and it adds a new mission to the game. This 7th mission introduces a new environment to the game - the urban city.

New Feature-Update next week! Introducing difficulties!
Hi everyone,
there will be a new feature update released next week. This will add the options the choose between several difficulties and change the map zoom.
You can choose between the difficulties: - Low (100% view distance, 100% Damage, 100% RPM)
- Medium (125% view distance, 125% Damage, 110% RPM)
- High (150% view distance, 150% Damage, 120% RPM)
- Very High (200% view distance, 200% Damage, 130% RPM)
[RPM]
While Low is the current difficulty with (500m view distance, 5HP Damage, 150 RPM) and as you can see the very high difficulty mode is pretty devastating. To give you a better chance to compete against the AI, I added the binoculars with the last update. This allows you to spot enemys over larger distances and plan your attack. To support this even more you can now adjust the zoom of the map, to see marked enemys that are more far away.
Another addition to the game is a basic health system. From now on you can find medikits on all maps which will heal you back to 100%. The medikits are from start on marked on the minimap.
Exactly 1 week after the release, here is the first feature update for Desert Thunder: Strike Force!
Changelog:
- added binoculars (aktivate with 'B', zoom with mouse wheel)
- added new Menu-System (same look, new code -> less bugs)
- added music volume slider to the options menu
- added new campaign save system (faster, easier to modify for upcoming maps)
- readjusted reload sound volume
- fixed scope texture (now it's a correct circle and no ellipse)
- fixed several smaller bugs
More updates, features and content is coming soon!
Update politic for Desert Thunder
Hello everyone,
I want to give you some small informations about the update progress of Desert Thunder.
I'm planning to release more frequent updates/patches with small additions than just a big update all 2-3 month. Content Updates are planned to be released monthly (for free).
The first content update is planned for May 2016 and will introduce a new asset Theme (Urban/City) and a new Singleplayer City map.
A new Feature-Update is scheduled for next week, which will include the new implemented binocular, a reworked menu system that will support more customisation in the future and some minor bug fixes and improvements.
The main goal is to add more content and enhance the gameplay (AI) over the time with these updates.
The changelog for the upcoming update is released with the update itself.
