Horses


There are horses in Sunset Rangers now. Here's how it works in the current build:

  • There are horses spread around the world, you can find them and mount them, but once you logoff you'll lose access to that horse.
  • You can buy horses using the base building mechanic, it's a bit expensive but after buying a horse you'll always be able to find a horse in your base. Even if the horse ends up dying, it'll respawn at your base eventually.
  • Horses are invisible during Base Building Mode, once you confirm buying one, it'll appear.
  • The basic horse control is: Shift to increase the speed, Ctrl to slow it down, A and D to turn the horse. While mounting you can shoot, reload and swap weapons normally. Press E to mount and Space to dismount.

NEW QUEST



  • Legends say One-eyed Bill is one of the best shots in the wastelands, but apparently some bandits kidnapped him and took him away...

AI



  • Improved Traveler's AI, now they should detect road curves and follow the road more appropriately.
  • Added soldiers patrolling the roads (during the day there are more soldiers than during the night).
  • Added bandits robbing the roads by night.
  • Improved Nav Mesh generation.
  • Improved Nav Mesh quality near obstacles, NPCs shouldn't flicker when close to obstacles now.


Gameplay



  • Slightly raised the amount of pages loaded around each player.
  • Increased accuracy penalty for NPCs, making gunfights a bit easier.
  • Decreased NPCs strafing when shooting. Now it depends on the NPC state [corageous, cautious, afraid].


Inputs/Controllers



  • Changed mouse wheel function, instead of changing the POV now they swap weapons.
  • By default 'X' is bound to 'Switch POV' function.
  • Exposed binding input to 'Next Weapon', 'Previous Weapon' and 'Aim'.
  • Added default Steam Controller configuration.


Bugfixes



  • Fixed bug freezing the Input window when using a gamepad to set some inputs.
  • Fixed Crosshair becoming distorted for high accuracy weapons.
  • Fixed bug locking bullets out of gun (won't reload).
  • Fixed bug preventing players to access the stuff on their bases.
  • Fixed bug preventing players to open quest loots.
  • Attempt to fix crash when launching the game caused by failure to resolve LAN IP.

First Redesigned Quest



  • There's a dire wolf wandering the wastelands, some people would pay a lot for his head, but be careful, it IS a dangerous beast...also, some say there are hunters looking for it, people who aren't interested in sharing the bounty...


Base Building

Gameplay



  • Reduced Karma generation.
  • Greatly improved road generation.
  • Added traveling merchants.
  • Added traveling auctioneers.
  • Removed worms (for now), it needs to be rebalanced and worked on (feedback is appreciated).


Input



  • Added functional support for gamepads, they game will now detect correctly triggers and will use the analog buttons to control the character and the camera correctly (I'll need feedback on this ːsteamhappyː).


Aesthetics



  • Wolves sound effects greatly improved, now they howl at night and have different sounds when threatening/attacking.
  • Redesigned AimedInfo window.
  • Added a slight rotation to wolves and snakes so they blend better with the terrain when traversing inclined parts.
  • Fixed graphical glitch in the night sky (line dividing the sky).
  • Added some new Loading Screens.


AI



  • Greatly improved Nav Mesh generation.
  • Added fallback behaviour when NPCs fail to acquire a target position on the nav mesh.

  • Fixed 'Rattlesnake' name not appearing.


Server



  • Added time control to server app.

Bugfixes



  • Fixed bug causing servers to hang after some time.

Rolled back to version 0.11a

Something was causing the servers to hang, I rolled back to 0.11a and I'll investigate this and fix it as soon as possible.

Unfortunately I'll have to restart the servers, which means the saves are going to be lost. But I'm gonna use the opportunity to change the servers seed, rendering a whole new world to explore.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Hopefully version 0.12b will be up soon.
