A silly little game where you need to know the entirety of Hamlet. It's like those learning to spell good games, but with sexytimes and Shakespeare. It was also a big back-and-forth for us, as it has text-based sex scenes baked in that go further than we've gone in a base game.
Release date changes
Paper Shakes: Date? 2 is going to launch sooner, as Furries/Bears 2 has taken priority as our late year game. This doesn't mean that it will be less of a game. We always were going for a November release date as a "LOL it's a stress-free election game during a real election", but realized that it doesn't really matter if it comes out then or not. Plus, I had an urge to deep dive into it.
Paper Shakespeare: Lizards is now 2021 due to various stressful factors that this year has brought to the team. It's a rather odd change, because it's a smaller game, but we feel that we do not want to push the issue and make it a rushed and stressed work environment for people.

Upgrade news - end of the line?
Okay, so here's the deal:
The Army of Tentacles 1 remaster is hitting some snags. The easiest to work on right now is that it is getting way too big file size-wise - bigger than the original size by far. So I don't think it is fair to drastically change the file size for an existing userbase. Which leaves the project with three options:
1) Release it as a separate, free DLC instead of a free patch But, if we're going to do this, we would have to throw in the new backgrounds as well (since there's absolutely no point in having DLC for DLC), and by then, we'd basically be selling the same game as a paid DLC. Which, while it is not unprecedented for a DLC to overhaul a base game's mechanics, it wouldn't serve the original purpose of the remasters, which was for every pre-exisiting and future user to have a retooled game.
2) Only upgrade the resolution This way, we'd still be able to sell the new backgrounds as an "HD 4K OMG LOLLERS" DLC for those that want a bit more of the game's backgrounds but still like the base game.
But that would potentially still increase the base game file size for existing users.
3) Make a new Army of Tentacles game entirely, scrap the upgrade patches altogether Obviously, if this happened, it would probably be the same price as the original game ($4.99) and use the art from either AoT 3 or [OTHER SECRET IN-UNIVERSE PROJECTS].
While this would be the easiest option, as of now, it's not the most ideal for us.
Going forward...
No idea what we are going to do yet, but we will let you know when we do have one.
This one was weird for me. Yeah, it's anthro animals and dragons, yes, there are still remnants of the dating sim formula that has worked well for us, but it's also filled with real stuff that happened to both Amber and myself working the past decade for retail. A majority of that, for me, was in this or that Halloween seasonal store.
So there's content in it. Just to tell you know.
Anyhow. We have a few more unannounced games to announce, which are smaller and we feel easier to "pump out" alongside our bigger lineup that we feel we can get done by the year's end - Joe Papp 2, Rainbow Hollow, Paper Shakespeare: To Date or Not To Date 2, and Lizards Lost.
Also: stay inside if you can. We're nowhere near the end of this virus junk.

Work has begun on updating the entire codebase of both Army games to fit in with where things stand now. "Where things stand now" means two things:
1) Where the company stands/how far we've come 2) So that past Army of Tentacles framework/quality matches up with new additions to the franchise
When we started out in 2016, we didn't quite know everything there is about game development. We still don't. We made mistakes, both financial and judgmental. Some big, some small. We know better coding tricks now, and we are more equipped to deal with the makings of a game. I think that anyone that has followed us over the past four and a half years has seen that we've grown as developers.
We can't promise the Army 1 and Army 3 remasters - of which both would be free patches - this year. We have a bit on our plate, but it is also clearing up rather quickly.
While we would love to have both patches hit in unison, Army 1 will probably hit first. There will most likely be a paid graphical upgrade DLC for Army 1 that will come sometime after the actual patch. Possibly. It all depends on if it seems worth it or not.
What to expect in both games:
Army of Tentacles 1 - New resolution (1920x1080) - Completely reworked code base - New UI - New attribute and leveling system - New shop/quest system - Completely reworked Army system - New party skill system - New Argument system
Super Army of Tentacles 3: The Search for Army of Tentacles 2 - New map screen - Completely reworked code base - New UI - New attribute and leveling system - New shop/quest system - Completely reworked Army system - New party skill system - New Argument system
These will, of course, break any current saves. It is being coded as to save currently popped achievements. Work has already begun on the UI.
