As the developer of Super Cable Boy and therefore the Glitch, one of my main responsibilities is, was and always will be to contain the Glitch safely inside the game. For security reasons and the future of our digital world.
But I have failed.
It broke out... well, at least a little bit. The Glitch wasn't able to corrupt the real world yet (at least not that I know of), but it made its way to the Linux and macOS operating systems. I hope it's not just a matter of time until it will infiltrate your phone, your smart TV, your toaster and your favourite lava lamp.
On top of that, the Arcade has been unlocked publicly! Who knows what people and the Glitch will do with that? May the cloud have mercy on our circuits....
Super Cable Boy Maker
Hey everybody, there are some exciting news! We decided to put more of Super Cable Boys future in your hands and what better way to do this than to give you access to the level editor to make your own levels?
For now, the editor update is only available on the "publictest" branch of the game, which everybody can opt in by ->going to their Steam library ->right clicking on the Super Cable Boy game and then on ->Properties... ->BETAS ->selecting "public test - public test branch"
You can find the editor and play custom levels by visiting the "Arcade" a new area inside the game, floating above the "Sleep Mode" area.
Our long term goal is to test the waters of user generated content and see what the community will do with it, but for now we are desperately looking for feedback, so please please please make sure to tell us your opinion on how to improve the editor and the general experience with it (and all the bugs it definitely still has)!
If you want to take part in the community, share levels, give us feedback or talk to other people about Super Cable Boy, you can do so on our community Discord server.
That's it for now, have fun building!
Teeny Tiny Update
it's a tiny update:
Added Portuguese localization. Many thanks to Jorge Junio and Lucas Pavlinscenkyte (EQUIPE TRADUÇÕES PKG)!
Added fresh new cover and banner images on the Steam page! I think they're cute.
Fixed DPad controls for most gamepads.
Minor bug fixes.
And that, folks, is all for now. The update is teeny. And tiny.
Random Update
As part of our daily routine we rolled the dice and looked at our chart to decide what new things to add to this game now.
We rolled our wheel of fortune exactly four time and this is what it landed on:
A tiny new secret area.
A couple of new Onigiris.
New localizations, this time it's traditional and simplified Chinese, Korean and Spanish.
Some bug fixes that have been inside the game since launch, but nobody really noticed or thought they where just "part of the Glitch".
This update might confuse some users due to it's random nature, but trust us, it's all going to make sense it the end. Or is it? Or maybe we are running out of quirky patch note ideas and started to just write down the random stream of consciousness we call our mind. Who knows? Stop asking so many questions and stop confuzzling everyone! Do you see Cable Boy up there? He's confuzzled, too.
10 Things we have updated on Super Cable Boy (You won't believe Nr. 1)
Well, well, well. A lot has happened since the last update and Cable Boy has been electrocuting his circuits for you day in day out. But don't worry. We're here to comfort you and tell you all about it. He has become smarter, more stable, but most of all, a boy of culture.
LOCALIZATIONS I know, I know... It's kind of ironic that the event news itself is only available in English, but hey, we gotta cut budget somewhere, you know? Anyways... Cable Boy downloaded himself some language lessons and is now fluent in:
Japanese
German
He's still learning a few other languages, though. Almost there. Learning new vocabulary is difficult if you have only 32kb of Memory.
Korean
Traditional Chinese
Simplified Chinese
Thai
Spanish
Will be ready next month!
OST RELEASE Did you know Cable Boy loves to dance? If you've ever pressed [R2] during the game, you probably did. Make sure to check out the OST, which includes all of Cable Boys favorite tunes (Which is basically every track from the whole game)! You can find it linked on the main store page or right here
BUG FIXES And as always we fixed a couple of bugs and glitches here and there (not the good ones, though. The good ones stay.):
Fixed a bug that caused the player to be teleported outside the disassembler boss fight room, when taken damage and playing with extra lifes
Reworked the level highlighting logic on the world map
Beep boop
STEAM SUMMER SALE Not sure if you've noticed, but yeah! The game is 20% off durign Steam Summer Sale! If you haven't already, go grab it! Also, why are you reading the announcement of a game you don't even own? Appreciate it, though.
There's one more thing...
NINTENDO SWITCH RELEASES aaaaaand.... the game is now available on Nintendo Switch! That's it. That's all I'm going to say about this one. This is not a promotion for the Switch Version, just a footnote containing purely non promotional information. Don't buy it. Just know that it's there. (I didn't write this because Steams policies are holding me hostage at all. Please don't sue me. Buy the game though. Just on Steam, of course. What? Who wrote all that? no one. You just imagined it.)
