Update 1.3.0 (Basic leaderboards!)

Hi

Leaderboards are something I've been very much looking forward to implementing ever since I began making levels and wondered how low people's times will be. I'm now happy to annouce that basic leaderboard support is available so let the fight to the top begin! >:D

It's only available for level clear times at the moment so that the leaderboards can be populated while I develop the rest of the UI and functionality.

Due to Steam restrictions, leaderboard uploads are limited to 1 per minute and with there being one or two for every level it will take probably about an hour or more to upload all your replays. You can leave the game running in the background if you wish or close the game which will save all the remaining uploads in the queue to continue uploading them the next time you play. Any new best times obtained will get pushed to the top of the queue to be uploaded next.

The game will upload your scores for all the leaderboards listed below even though you can only view the level clear (around user) leaderboard at the moment.

Leaderboards will consist of the following catagories:

  • Level clear
  • Ace level clear
  • Combined all level clear Season time
  • Game clear total time
  • 100% Game clear time
  • Secret catagory*

Other changes

Gameplay

  • 5-5 (Hot Rocks) Some of the rocks have been pushed back a bit in the final section to make the jumps there a bit less awkwerd and precise.
  • On Season 4 I removed the centre gold toll completely and adjusted the positions of the map nodes near it a little. This was something I've been thinking about for a while because it's the only main Season in the game that blocks your progress with a gold toll making it inconsistant with the rest of the game.

Fixes/Improvements

  • Moved the Exit button on the map menu to the top left to make way for the leaderboard button in it's place.
  • Season 2's map has had it's top row of tile removed for the Exit button's clarity.
  • Sawfaces exhibited a rare bug where that if you died while on they were on the screen, when you respawn they start active and won't be in a predictable position. This is now fixed.
  • Gold Tokens collected in a different sub-level to the one you respawn in will now be tallied correctly.
  • Fixed cheats not working correctly under certain conditions.
  • Fixed achievement pop-up becoming stuck when cheats are on.
  • Managed to track down and remove a few memory leaks which caused the game to stutter occasionally. There's a few more that occur upon respawning but the stuttering should be greatly reduced for now.
  • Selecting a profile won't bring up the enter name window anymore if you've already named the profile but haven't completed the first level yet.
  • Changed some UI text.
  • UI transitions are now instantaneous.
  • UI no longer loops vertically or horezontally and the auto press interval has also been shortened heavily.
  • Got hold of a new pair of monitoring headphones and noticed a few of my tracks needed some minor equalising changes.
  • The music filter level is faded up upon death and the ready screen now uses reduced filter and volume levels.

I hope you see your best times on the leaderboards soon :)

Update 1.2.6 (2-Boss working again!)

Hi!

So a few major bugs that turned up in v1.2.0 have now been squished, including a game-breaking one on level 2-Boss which prevented players from progressing past the second area.

Sorry to everyone who experienced these game breaking bugs. This was the result of an easy mode I was planning to add to the game. I ultimately felt it would hurt the satisfaction of the experience though, so I disabled it without removing it which gave rise to a few issues like the top two notes listed below.

  • Fixed major bug with camera not being in the right place on the last section of 2-Boss resulting in instant death upon entering. This is something I overlooked on testing.
  • Fixed invisible platforms on some levels. Could've sworn I tested this though, sorry guys!
  • A-2 (Fantoxic) now uses the correct colour scheme.
  • 4-3 (Return of the Key) exposes a bug with the crush detection system after the central area. I've added a step in the corner to prevent this from happening and it also makes that area very slightly less chaotic.
  • Also on 4-3, I removed the pointless platform on the top left and continued the wall up. I also moved the lasers to the background layer.
  • Removed retractable spikes on 4-Boss (Tower of Power) hidden in the room with the Jump Gone Movers (yellow platforms with a !). They were accidentally placed.
  • Added missing guide lines to some of the moving platforms on 4-Boss.

Known Issues:
- Tolls still allow you to unlock them once again even after being unlocked. The root cause appears to occur when you enter the map.

Patch Notes - v1.2.3 (Bonus Season Tolls)

  • Changed Season A (Special Place)'s tolls so that they are more spread out.

Patch Notes - v1.2.2 (Bonus Season, Borderless Fullscreen and more)

  • Bonus Season (Special Place) added to the game! The ultimate challenges awaits those who have mastered the game!
  • Cheats added to the game! 7 of the secret achievements will grant you a different cheat you can use for fun on completed levels. Some of the secret achievements have been made easier as a result.
  • Fullscreen now runs as a borderless window and is on by default when you first run the game. This should hopefully fix stretching issues and changing desktop resolutions.

Gameplay

  • 4-Boss has an extra checkpoint just after half way through.
  • Token Tolls can't be unlocked more than once.
  • Made the route to Season 4's boss level slightly more obvious.
  • Swapped the 38 and 52 Gold Toll's around and lowered the 90 Gold Toll to 72.
  • Added a checkpoint to 5-Boss because it's just too difficult without one.
  • Credits screen can be skipped after the first time you've seen it.
  • Changed "Super Speedy Live!" achievement target from 1hr 20mins to 1hr 52mins.
  • Changed "Super Safety Live!" achievement from 12 deaths to 100 deaths. I changed both of these achievements to be easier because they shouldn't be top tier difficulty.

Visual

  • Profile window now says "Load Game" instead of shouting "CONTINUE GAME".
  • A date is now attached to game saves and they are now listed by most recently played.
  • Pick game save text has been improved.
  • Bomb launcher (found on 4-Boss) sprites are properly clipped.
  • Moving platforms now update on the frame the level goal is touched. This fixes the de-sync that occurs with respect to other objects.
  • Checkpoints now spawn you on the ground correctly.
  • Toxinator's face rotates with the view so they are always facing upright.
  • The camera now drifts a bit when dying or using doors or portals.
  • Pause menu is now slightly higher.
  • Slightly sped up Season name text animation when starting a new Season map.
  • Replay button on map menu is now always visible for consistancy.
  • Brightened up Season 5's background.
  • Changed 100% medals to ACE medals. This better describes the level achievement.

Audio

  • Audio settings while on the title screen will play the full title theme music.
  • Slightly lowered volume on the checkpoint sound.
  • Final boss' static noise stops when you hit the final exit.
  • Credits theme is a little louder.
  • Credits and easter egg theme's follow the audio settings now.

Other

  • Corrected credits title "Tools" to "Licenses" and added the Nevis font license.

Patch Notes - v1.1.0 (Multiple saves)

v1.1.0 (Sept 10th 2017)

  • Profiles can now have multiple campaigns saved to them. This allows you to collect all the achievements in a single profile, most specifically the game completion achievements.
This also is one small step towards having custom campaigns in the future.
  • Level 2-Boss (Grate Escape) has been made easier throughout, especially the final section.
  • Level 3-1 (Eleventry) is a little easier on the second section and the first section's platform stays put after respawning at the checkpoint.
  • The final level has had a few small adjustments. One for a more consistant level layout and one for improved visuals.
  • Gmail was blocking attempts to send error reports using their email service. I've disabled the error report form for now until I can implement a reliable way to receive stack traces.

Patch Notes - v1.0.1-1.0.3 (Day one patch)

v1.0.3 (Sept 5th 2017)
  • All fonts now default to the question mark character. This will prevent crashing when a character isn't supported.

v1.0.2 (Sept 5th 2017)
  • Achievement "Flawless Victory" has been fixed again and now correctly checks for deaths and restarts.

v1.0.1 (Sept 5th 2017)
  • Fixed an issue with replays not triggering the level clear screen on the final level.
  • Level clear screen on final level now displays "Continue" instead of "Back to Map".
  • Fixed Lumi's rotation when respawning.
  • Achievements only receive game state messages when in normal play mode. This prevents false positives in replay mode.
  • Achievement "You wot mate!" now correctly checks for a 3-Star medal.
  • Achievement "Flawless Victory" now checks if you've respawned at a checkpoint instead of just counting the deaths in the level.
  • Season complete window is a little higher.
  • Inverter audio and effects aren't present during the level clear screen anymore.
