I recently began redoing Stage 2 so that it can be included in the game. I hope to have it ready soon.
Patch 1.0.4 is ready for downloading!
Ver. 1.0.4 patch notes:
Every 300 score you get without dying will grant you an extra life;
Added a tutorial! You can access it from the "Extra" button in the main menu;
New enemies added: Updated Stage 1 Zombie and Skeleton;
Some enemies now explode into body parts or blood drops will fly off of them for added 'oomph' on defeating enemies;
Added two new sub-weapons: Double Axe and Holy Water. Double Axe does 60 damage and it is thrown in an arc above the player. Holy Water can't be thrown very far, but when it lands it bursts into a flame that persists momentarily to damage and slow down the enemy it hits;
Fixed rare glitch where landing attack hits enemy twice;
Fixed rare crouching/landing/attacking glitches;
Added more background tile-art to stage 3;
And some other stuff!

Ver. 1.0.3 patch notes:
You can now find several types of sub-weapons on each stage instead of one type per stage;
Created sub-weapon inventory and swap button. Now you can pick up more than one sub-weapon and swap between them;
Included sub-weapons from stages 1 and 2: Throwing Knife and Throwing Torch;
Increased easy mode lives to 6 from 3, normal mode lives to 4 from 3, and hard mode still has 3 lives;
Streamlined stage select menu screen;
When quitting game from main menu a short pause and screen change occurs, to ensure a clean closing of the program;
Added loading screens to ensure that data saving/loading is processed completely;
Massively overhauled widget back-end programming for more efficiency/versatility for new menus to be included in later updates;
Stage 3:
Decreased Crystal Golem boss health to 800 from 1000, to make it less grindy. Changed some of its attacks and reactions to make it more challenging;
Edited Stage 3-1 background wind sound effect to loop seamlessly instead of having abrupt end/beginning;
Increased damage of Throwing Cross from 50 to 60;
Stage 6:
Damage to Wisp Lord: throwing leaves do 50 damage, other projectiles do 35 damage. Bombs do nothing;

Full gamepad/controller support! Menus can now be navigated with a keyboard/gamepad as well as a mouse. WASD keys control movement and enter key clicks the buttons. D-pad/Left thumb stick controls movement and Bottom Face Button (A button on Xbox controller) clicks the buttons;
Now there are Steam achievements! I plan on adding more as time goes on;
Added a controls menu accessible from the options menu. This shows the key-bindings. Later I will try to allow custom input from this new menu.
Changed default mouse cursor into a cool bat! :)
Save messages that show when you reach a checkpoint, have died or when it's game over;
Stage progress now saved on dying and game over screen. But if you reach a new stage and quit without saving or dying, you will lose that progress;
Boss name appears on health bar;
Various other improvements/fixes;

Hello!
Enhanced smoothness of character attack function and movement transitions, rare bugs fixed;
Removed/changed many platforms to make them less frustrating to jump on;
Jumping into above colliding surface/object no longer launches player downward, forward momentum is carried, allowing for smoother jumping;
Slightly altered player jumping/falling/landing animations;
Allow difficulty change from options menu, but must wait for restart stage/game over/exiting to menu for change to update;
Area widget that allows you to see stage and level number;
Widget that shows when starting/beating stage;
Fixed bug where starting game with zero master volume keeps you from being able to adjust volume;
Fixed flying enemy glitch where landing stops update animation event;
