Hi folks, we've pushed the former beta branch build live which should fix the black screen issue many players were experiencing. If you're still experiencing the black screen bug or any other issues, please do let us know so that we can investigate the issue further.

Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality - Update Now Live!
Hey Surgeons!
Last month we posted a tentative update to the game on our beta branch based on all the feedback we'd collected from you guys about your experience with SS:ER. If you didn't catch that previously you can read all about it here.
Here's a recap on what we've changed:
Changes:
Magnets; how do they work?! Grabbing has been improved so that only a single finger (or fingers) can be used to pick up objects.
Touchingly easy! The thumb no longer needs to be held down to grab objects to prevent controller issues using the Vive or Oculus Touch controllers.
Masochists Rejoice! You can now stab yourself with syringes!
Recognition at last! Completion grades now appear on the clipboard.
Bug Fixes:
Achievement names and descriptions are listed correctly.
Green syringe effect no longer persists outside of the game.
Blood status effects no longer persist outside of certain surgeries.
Video tape now plays correctly when inserted into VCR.
Multiple tools have now been rebalanced. The circular bonesaw, surgical axe, hatchet, drill and hammer and are more consistent through all levels.
Hands will no longer spawn in before the level starts, which could cause players to interact with objects before the level starts.
Brain won’t shake around uncontrollably when the skull is broken sometimes on brain surgeries.
The response we received for the update was great so we've decided today to push it to the live version of the game. For most of you the game should auto update but if you need to you can force an update by doing the following:
Right click on Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality in your Library
Select Properties
Navigate to the Local Files tab
Left click on Verify Integrity of Game Cache
As always we're very interested in reading feedback, so if you have any thoughts or experience issues with this update please leave them in the comments below.
See you in surgery,
Bossa Studios
xoxo
Who Is America's Top Virtual Surgeon?
Hyper RPG are launching a brand new show today featuring Surgeon Simulator ER!
“ER VR” is a weekly show that features popular Twitch streamers competing in the VR world in our very own game.
Streamer MissesMae will be the first guest to compete in the “ER VR” challenge while Pamela Horton and Ify Nwadiwe provide commentary.
Thanks to everyone who’s left their feedback via the forums, reviews or directly about the last batch of changes we made to the game. We really appreciate the time and effort you guys have taken to help us improve Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality!
Since the previous method of creating a separate ‘beta branch’ of the game and using it as a testing ground for future changes worked so well; we thought we’d go ahead and do that again.
Here are the latest updates we’ve been tinkering with that have been included in this update to the beta branch:
Changes:
Magnets; how do they work?! Grabbing has been improved so that only a single finger (or fingers) can be used to pick up objects.

Please don't forget that this is still a beta build, so there might still be some bugs. We’re particularly interested in your PC specs if you run into performance issues. Please send your dxdiag to surgeonfeedback@bossastudios.com if you do.
Beta Branch Access:
If you would like to try the update version out you can access the above changes by switching to our beta branch using the following steps:
Right click on Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality in your Steam library
Click 'Properties'
Click the 'BETAS' tab
In the drop-down, select the beta you would like to opt into: "sser_beta". If this isn't available, sometimes you need to restart Steam. You shouldn't need a beta access code.
If your download doesn't start immediately, go back to Properties and click the LOCAL FILES tab, then Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
Once you're on the right branch, under the LOCAL FILES tab your current content BuildID should say 1529033, and the title in your library will say "Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality [sser_beta]"
If you'd like to switch back to the original version, go back to the BETAS tab and click NONE. You may need to re-verify to kick off the download again.
And there we have it! Please leave your feedback in the comments or on the stickied forum thread (especially regarding performance)!
See you in surgery,
Bossa Studios

We've made some changes, tell us what you think!
Hi Everyone,
We've been listening to your comments on the controls for the game and we've made some changes we'd love your feedback on. We thought the best way to do this was to make the updated version available for all owners to try out on a beta branch.
These are the changes we have made and the instructions on how to access it are below:
- The bone saw has been rebalanced to try to make it do more damage (closer to the tool in the original Surgeon Simulator).
- It is now easier to pick things up, using the same behaviour as our Meet the Medic demo, where any finger can now hold items.
- You no longer need to click in the Vive thumb touchpad to use the thumb, just resting your thumb on it will do the trick.
- Things don't move around in your hand as much, again something that should feel closer to Meet the Medic.
Please don't forget that this is still a beta build, so there might still be some bugs. The current known issues specific to the beta version are:
- A bit of stretching on the Alien model in the Alien surgery.
- Bonesaw doesn't always work on the ribs in the Kidney surgeries.
If you would like to try the update version out you can access these changes by switching to our beta branch using the following steps:
- Right click on Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality in your Steam library
- Click 'Properties'
- Click the 'BETAS' tab
- In the drop-down, select the beta you would like to opt into: "sser_beta". If this isn't available, sometimes you need to restart Steam. You shouldn't need a beta access code.
- If your download doesn't start immediately, go back to Properties and click the LOCAL FILES tab, then Verify Integrity of Game Cache.
- Once you're on the right branch, under the LOCAL FILES tab your current content BuildID should say 1529033, and the title in your library will say "Surgeon Simulator: Experience Reality [sser_beta]"
If you'd like to switch back to the original version, go back to the BETAS tab and click NONE. You may need to re-verify to kick off the download again.
So, try it out and let us know what you think. We'd very much love to hear your feedback in the comments.
