Holiday Season is upon us, and we are bringing back Guns Race event game mode to Survarium! Play in PvP game modes, receive holiday currency (snowflakes, pine trees and stars) and exchange it for the equipment with unique holiday camos! The higher you place after a match, the more currency you get!
Ranked matches are unavailable during the event.
The List of Changes in Survarium 0.65d
Holiday Season Event in Survarium
Everything mentioned below is only available during the Holiday Season event until January 8, 12 PM (noon) GMT!
Play matches in the Guns Race event game mode, receive holiday currency: snowflakes, pine trees and stars. The higher you place in a match, the more currency you get! You can earn event currency in other PvP modes, but you will get less than in the Guns Race.
Exchange the currency for the equipment with unique holiday camos: FN SCAR-H NY 2021 (tier 5), Vepr-12 NY 2021 (tier 4) and "Year of the Bull" decal (+5% to reputation, experience and silver).
Guns Race is all-versus-all game mode, so every other player will try to frag you.
Before each match an equipment tier (from 1 to 5) is randomly selected, and a list of this tier's weapons is generated. The last ones on the list are always a snowball and an icicle which one shot an enemy. However, it's not that easy to get a hit with the snowball, and the icicle works only in melee.
Kill opponents to get the next weapon on the list. Melee kills let you advance through the list faster, but if someone kills you in melee, you roll back to the previous weapon on the list. The player to make the kill with the last weapon on the list wins.
You will receive a "Winter's Tale" decal (+5% to experience) for the first win in a PvP-match!
Holiday Season Treasure Hunt
Holiday Season Treasure Hunt will be available during the holiday event, replacing the usual Treasure Hunt. Don't forget to receive all the rewards you can before the event starts and the Treasure Hunt is updated on December, 24!
The top reward in Holiday Season Treasure Hunt is a weapon from one of the previous game events (except Halloween 2020).
The list of rewards does not depend on your maximum equipment tier.
You will not get event weapons you own as potential rewards (unless you own all event weapons, in which case the reward will be a random event weapon).
Holiday Season Treasure Hunt updates daily, not weekly! It also updates as soon as you have received all the rewards or rerolled the Treasure Hunt.
The number of free stash maps you can receive is also updated daily, not weekly!
You can receive up to 5 free stash maps each day during the event (with a 20% chance after a PvP-match)! But keep in mind that you still cannot have more than 2 free stash maps at any time. To receive all 5 stash maps in a day, please spend the free stash maps you currently have.
General Changes
Decreased costs of the regular equipment when purchasing with gold instead of silver.
Bug Fixes
Fixed an issue when it was possible to install a bound module to a new weapon without unbinding it first from the current weapon.
Fixed description of Socom 16 optics bracket (before it was incorrectly marked as a module that can be installed on H&K G3SG/1).
Survarium Patch 0.65b with custom matches, clan wars, equipment rebalancing and bug fixes is now live! Please find the complete list of changes of the Patch below. Have a good time playing the game!
- Updated descriptions of some character skills in all languages to clarify their bonuses.
Custom Matches
- You can now create custom matches of two types: training and clan. The main difference is that you can invite anyone to training matches, but only players of your clan and one other clan may join clan matches. " - In a custom match you may choose any settings: the number of players, mode (include Artifact Hunt mode), map, team lineups and much more (for example, enable general voice chat or add bots). - The cost of participating in a custom training match is displayed in tokens. You can pay participation cost by yourself either in silver or gold, but you can also pay more or less (for example, you can pay for another player or players in your the team or hope that another player pays for you). Participation for players with a premium account is free. - Participation cost in a clan battle is displayed as a total sum, and every player can pay any amount. Additionally, the total cost of a clan battle is reduced by each player with a premium account. - Please note that custom training matches do not yield rewards (like regular PvP matches). Also, the character's experience and reputation with factions are not awarded, equipment progress is not tracked. However, you will get rewards for clan battles. - There are no penalties for leaving custom matches or being afk. - Clan matches follow the same rules as ranked matches: there's no killcam and no markers when hitting characters.

What Happens Next?
Question: I think with this being the last question it would be good for you to give us some insight as to what Vostok's goals/desires are for the game. What you plan for the future, is there talk of a remaster, are new maps something the team wants to create, what incentive will older players have to keep them in the game? Vostok used to publish road-maps of development plans for the year ahead but as that is no longer the case, it is difficult for players to be excited about what is to come as they (in most cases) have no idea what to expect.
Answer: I believe the overall strategic goal hasn’t changed – to implement and deliver the game in its full potential. The more detailed explanation can be tracked from the discussion regarding Freeplay we had recently, so you can get the understanding why we are not there yet. We’ll think about the ways of how to add more visibility to players with regards to the planning part. Please, take into account we try to rely on the players’ feedback generated by the updates we make, so often the plans tend to shift and modify, which I think is good for the game and the community after all.
Question: The game has gone through many different phases throughout its history. Some better than others. At times it even looked like there was a loss in direction where Vostok didn't seem to know what Survarium was. Do you think these sorts of things are caused by the many different lead designers the project has had over the years, or something else? Just thinking back, the game was once almost a "hardcore" shooter, focusing on slower, more controlled gameplay, whereas now it is certainly played at faster paces. Not only that but the art direction has changed in many ways too. Can you give us some insight into the decision making processes behind the changes mentioned above and if the team behind the game has a clear vision of where to take the project in the future.
Answer: The game has been in development for a while, so naturally we had periodic changes in the direction of the game. Sometimes we indeed had to make drastic moves and take decisions which could be treated as hard. Many of those decisions made in situations of insufficient resources to keep up the development of the game the way we wanted it to be. In any case, be sure, the development team behind Survarium does their best, and frequently beyond that, to keep updating the game with new content and features on regular basis. We are deeply thankful to the community supporting the game, it’s you who make it move forward!
Question: Survarium is mostly played by Europeans and Russians, this makes sense as Vostok is a Ukrainian development team. The question here is, what plans has Vostok made or will make to boost awareness of the game in the American market? As we recall, there was never really any major "push" to promote the game in the Americas, save for what is achieved by just having the game listed on Steam. What are your thoughts on this?
Answer: You’re right we have many Eastern European players in the game. However, since Survarium is also available on Steam, we have a lot of international players in the game as well. US would be in the top 3 location when it comes to the player-base. Making a push always makes sense. I think we’d need to have a relevant game update for that though. So, working on it.
Question: Can you describe a normal day in the office when it comes to the Survarium project? What are some of the things that the team do each day or week to move the development forward? And how has this process been affected since the global lockdown due to the Covid-19 virus?
Answer: The creative process would be similar to any other project we’ve had internally: the team would do regular meetings to brainstorm and toss in various ideas relevant for the game, discuss pros and cons, then take time to consider and reconvene again to fine-tune the discussion and work out a rough plan, which could later be translated by the producer into a bunch of specific task for the team to work on. The tasks are then grouped into so called sprints and the team gets into working on those to deliver on time. On regular basis the guys get together for status-update meetings, to keep track of the sprint progress and to make sure everyone’s on the same page about the current goals and the deliverable target. The lockdown has made the process a bit more complicated as now all the discussions need to happen online, which could be less spontaneous a process, but nevertheless just as heated a chats.
