Full release still on the horizon, but single player is back for all you masters that want to practice your skills!
*MAJOR UPDATE*
This is an open BETA of the multiplayer system. If there are any bugs please let us know by emailing support@sweetescapevr.com so we can fix it and make it better :-D
What? You thought we had abandoned you like our childhood dreams to be a famous action hero? Well, we’re back and, man, we broke a lot of things along the way. Hearts, code, servers, the foundations of space time, and so many cans of energy drinks.
How else did you expect us to get so skinny? You noticed, right? We dropped half our size in this update. It was hard work too. Last time we dropped this much weight was the morning after we thought trying to get on the “30 Tacos or more” Wall of Shame at our favorite Mexican place was a good idea. Life tip, it’s never a good idea. But this update was. And now our summer bikini bodies are ready. Time to play!
Speaking of not playing by yourself, we’ve injected a little instant action into our multiplayer. No more lobbys or small talk or trying to figure out if the one night thing is worth the regret. It’s now one button push and you’re in, wham, climbing giant mounds of sugary goodness. There’s nothing like jumping into the action with someone you just met and grabbing two handfuls of victory while top. Hey, we’re talking about our new multiplayer here. No teasing here, one push and you’re in!
Soooo, yeah, we forgot to tell you something. If you die in Sweet Escape, we kinda, sorta, own your soul. Yeah, it’s in that small type somewhere in the code when you start the game. When you die in the game, your soul is captured and we make it play against your friends when you’re soullessly wandering the real world. Good thing is you can haunt your friends scoreboards by all the rounds you played before. Round after round, your well trained ghost soul can trounce his real avatar in each game. Hell, we’re even breaking the laws of paranormal paradoxical metaphysics and making your own ghost haunt you. Now you can proverbially feel what it’s like to kick yourself in your own junk. Hurts, don’t it?
Since we were talking about your friends, or soon to be ex-friends, lets talk about our new leaderboards. Our new leaderboards will stack you up against everyone and showcase all the shiny new high scores you’ll be getting, so you’re going to be making a lot of enemies. But don’t worry, while it’s lonely at the top, it’s one helluva view to look down at all the slow losers called your friends.
And who doesn’t like the digital merit badges called Achievements? We certainly love them. It’s like the gaming world’s version of Who’s shoes are bigger (substitute “shoes” for anything, like sandwiches or cars or crippling student loan debt). It’s an ego building exercise. We want to squeeze all that dopamine out of your gland when that little unlock notification pops up. We want you to feel good about everything you’ve accomplished in your life. We’re here for you. We love you. We would never lie to you.
Oh, you didn’t like looking at the same player face and body beating you time and time again? Now everyone can customize their avatars so you can get beat in many different faces. Isn’t diversity fun?
Finally, we updated art. What did you expect? Not every one of these has to be funny? We updated the art because we wanted it to look better. Sometimes, it’s good to do things just to make the world a better, more enjoyable place. It’s also really really close to the deadline for release and we just got lazy. Do you want funny release notes or really kick ass new art? Yeah, we thought so. Stop complaining.
New UI Art by Five and Done
We have an AWESOME update with new UI in the main menu, scoreboards and more. Special thanks to @fiveanddone for zazzing up Sweet Escape VR. We are really excited about our new creative partnership with them and together we are working diligently to get the full version of Sweet Escape VR out.
Full release date TBA!
We just emptied our sack! 30 brand new levels to climb and jump through!
Ok, release notes incoming:
Jump in your red suits, squeeze into that chimney and climb out into the ho ho HOLY CRAP, 30 more levels were added?!?! A New look? A level ranking system? Looks like all you boys and girls got on the nice list this year. Sweet Escape is back with another update to make your arms even more sore from the joys of climbing for your life!
Here’s the updates:
Our prototype levels are a lot like science lab, only these experiments didn’t blow up and leave you with a D- and summer school. These levels are fresh off the frying pan and hot and ready to be consumed by your sweet sticky hands. They’re a little crazy, a lot longer, and a saccharine ton more challenging.
Speaking of gifts, who doesn’t want to climb a mountain of presents for the holidays? Now you can in 10 new Holiday themed levels. There’s no milk and cookies at the end of this climb, only your smug satisfaction that Santa could never get his fat cookie lovin’ butter tarts up these levels faster than you.
Lets talk serious for a moment. There comes a time in a game’s life, where things start to, well, you know, change. Voice starts to change, there’s hair growing everywhere, and you start to notice that you’re not young anymore. Sweet Escape is growing up, right before our eyes. It no longer wanted to wear that old cartoon logo we gave it. It screamed “You’re not the boss of me!” and stormed out. Next thing we know, Sweet Escape comes back with a new grunge look, new menus, and a new attitude. Goodbye innocence, Hello rebellion.
Lastly, we know you hate us and our level design. We know, we can smell the anger on you. Now you have a way of telling us! At the end of every level, you can rank it! Rank those levels with one star. You know, the ones that had the easy Lollipop to Cookie jump you couldn’t make until your 5 year old brother showed you up. Yeah, it’s not your fault you suck, it’s ours! So tell us! (or, you know, you can just be nice and tell us which ones you loved and not be jerks. Or be jerks, we don’t care! We just want data!).
Change Log:

Server Stability Resolved
The dedicated server was crashing every few days. Requiring a manual restart.
So if you were not able to connect, that was most likely the reason.
The server has now been setup to automatically restart every 24 hours. Joining should be much more reliable.
Please let us know if there are still any lingering issues, and we can look into them.

Sweet Escape VR Update: Party or Death!?
Been a while in the making but its finally here!
Seven new levels built from the ground up! Every level has you climbing delicious sweets high off the ground in Candy Canyon. Your fear of heights is only outweighed by the fear that your lap time will suck.
Don’t know how to play? Don’t worry! Our animated guide will show you the Sweet Escape basics. You’ll have those proverbial training wheels off in no time!
Join all your sweet friends on dedicated servers. Wanna escape the crowds and do some practice climbing on other servers? No problem, there’s a built in server browser to help you navigate and find new friends. Those old friends were slow climbers anyway.
Smell that? Of course not, this is VR. But if you could smell it, you’d be overwhelmed with new art-style smell: new candies, new canyon, new twisted levels.
Have no friends? Have no worries! Sweet Escape has a robust single player experience as well. Race the levels over and over to get your best lap time away from all those judging internet eyes.
Have friends? Well it’s time to smoke their lap scores since you know you’re the fastest on the candy courses. The multiplayer features a countdown timer to complete the laps for the course. How many laps can you complete before the time runs out? Fastest lap out of all those laps between you and your opponents wins the course.
Who doesn’t love to fly in their dreams? Now you can gracefully leap from candy to candy with our improved jumping physics. You can also smoothly plummet to your death if you miss grabbing the candy on your decent. Yeah, this is candy VR, not your dreams. You can still die in VR, silly.
If you come out on top with the fast time, you’ll be atop the winners podium, with the choice of two buttons. One button sends your fellow loser candy climbers to their boiling green death. The other button teleports them to come party with you out on the disco dance floor. With superior climbing skills, comes superior judgement that you can reign down on others. You deserve it, you’re a winner.
Wanna scream at other players as they pass you? Or maybe just taunt your buddies with sad puns and they fall to their death? Voice chat is essential to rubbing in all your wins and making excuses for all your losses. Just hold down the grip buttons and give them all your best battle cry!
