New Build = Enemy AI refined & Windowed mode!

Okay, so I've made a bunch of changes today, which I said would be put up today on Stream, so I thought I'd roll out the new build, and let you all know what to expect!

First, is Windowed mode! I know a few people have wanted it, so they can play it on a monitor of their choosing (before the game liked to randomly select a monitor to play on). To access Windowed mode simply press: Alt+Enter with the game open! It should then go from fullscreen, to windowed!

"Fecals" have been added to the game! (You wanted poop monsters, you got poop monsters!)

Readable signs have been reworked and should fix a lot of the issues that would happen previously where the sign wouldn't open correctly, or the top UI wouldn't disappear as intended.

And lastly Enemy AI has been refined!. The current enemy AI that can be found in the game will work slightly different from enemy to enemy, but can be broken down currently to 4 basic types. Those types are:


  • Passive: These enemies will wander aimlessly until struck by Sidd's cardboard sword, and will then run away. (no enemies currently use this, but it will be used very soon!)
  • Passive Aggressive: These enemies have a real issue with being direct, and try to avoid conflct for the most part. They will wander around until you attack them, and then they will chase after you until you get out of range. (Feclets do this currently)
  • Aggressive: These enemies want to be on you, no matter what. If you get too close, they'll take that as a "sign" that you were trying to flirt with them, and will spend the rest of your time in the area annoying you until you leave or kill them! (Jack 0's currently have this behavior)
  • Chicken $#!t: These enemies have a huge fear of commitment, and will run if you decide you're ready to get close to them. Probably not the best Valentine in the world, though I hear Fecals have attachment issues (is that a pun?!). (Maggo's currently have this behavior).


Drop rates have also been adjusted slightly, so items are a little less abundant. Item drops are still being worked on, so if you see less and less of things, it's probably not a bug!

Friday Dev Stream at 10am PST!

At the beginning of today's stream, I'll be testing a few things that I changed in the game, and added including a few new sounds, a new animation that plays when you equip two items that can be used together, and a new twitch notification that will show up in game while I'm streaming!

New build is live!

A new update is live for Sword 'N' Board. Further optimization has been made to the game and more optimization will continue to be made as well! Some things the current build focuses on:


  • Added controls to the menus (this is still being added to and refined)
  • Bug fixes for controls and combining items in hopes of reducing an "auto fire" bug that has been reported.
  • Further control refinement.
  • Fixed the issue that was causing the main menu to be unresponsive when start was pressed
  • Added a new overworld area to the game, as well as a new secret area to be found!



I am also working on some camera bugs as well so I can give you all back control over the resolution that you would like to use. I know some people have reported an issue with the game essentially picking what monitor to display on, and not being able to run the game as they wish. So I'll be refining the camera and working on proper scaling so I can give you back resolution choices, and working on a "Settings menu" for the game as well.

The next update will focus on those resolution troubles, as well as further working on controls and refactoring various things to reduce animation bugs while attacking/shooting.

New build is out!

Hey Sword 'N' Board people!

I just rolled out a new build, so definitely make sure to update Sword 'N' Board. This build was to fix a few urgent bugs, some camera things and most importantly... PERFORMANCE!

I'd like to hear from people who were having performance issues previously, and see if they notice any changes or not. Optimization will be on on going thing, but I definitely wanted to try and get it playable for those that were having issues previously!

A new build will be coming soon with more added areas to explore, and hopefully will soon be opening the first Dungeon, and adding a new enemy type!
