Sword of Asumi

Achievements v2.01

A quick update was made to the game build today, taking us to version 2.01.

the update should fix the occasional issues some mac and Linux were getting with steam achievements. Sorry for the delay in releasing a patch for this, hopefully everyone should enjoy the achievements from now on regardless of system.

Errors & Missing Executables!

Hi we have had a few people posting support tickets when the game shows Missing Executable or comes up with an error.

After testing this extensively we have found that some of the lib dlls in the game that were added as part of the steam achievement update can create false positives with some virus programs. (E.g. Avast, Norton etc)

When this occurs the virus program either quarantines or deletes the exe game file or removes the dll files, which will then stop the game from working. To fix this issue and restore the game content you need to do the following:

1. Temporarily disable your vrius scanner
2. Right click on Sword of Asumi in your steam library
3. Select properties
4. Go to the Local Files tab
5. Click on 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache

Steam will then authenticate the files and download the corrupted or missing ones from the false positive. After which your game will work again.

To prevent this occurring again you will need to either temporarily disable the virus scanner for playing or set an exception for these files.

Request:
In addition we have submitted these as false positives to some companies, but if you receive the virus notification then please also submit a false positive report to your virus provider.

If we find a different way to package the game that does not create these false positives then we will post an update once performed.

Sword of Asumi Sale & Possible Sequel

Hi all, so for the past few weeks while working on the 2.00 update a few of us here have been kicking ideas around for a possible sequel. In the end we have come up with the idea of continuing the story of Asumi after the end of the DLC graphic novel that already continues the lead protagonists story.

The idea has found some traction here and we like the idea of continuing the story at a point where Asumi has had to become a vigilante so that she can keep judging the scum of Edo and keeping the people safe, since the Justicars have been disbanded.

However to make a sequel is a big undertaking, so since we have a lot on our plate we want to take our time on it and make the sequel a big game that can stand on its own two feet. So to do that we need a good budget to start us off on the right path.

Sooooo......

So as already announce Sword of Asumi is currently on sale, and what we have agreed with our previous backers is that if by the end of March we can sell 5000 copies of the game, then we will begin immediate production of the sequel...

If we don't reach this goal, this doesn't mean the sequel wont happen, it just means it will take much longer before it can be given a suitable budget and brought into existence.

So what can you do... All we are asking is to please help spread the word and raise awareness about the games current sale, so that we can get a nice boost towards the sequel's goal while the game is on offer.

Thank you all.

Achievements & Steam Sale

I am happy to announce a number of extra's for the Sword of Asumi game.

First in honor of the Swords of Edo second anniversary we have been able to give Sword of Asumi a final update. The recently released update polishes the main gameplay and fixes the final bugs we have been notified of. This includes an update to the soundtrack DLC to ensure it displays correctly in Steam Player.

Sequel

We have also agreed that if we can sell over 5,000 copies of the Sword of Asumi game during this sale and before the end of March then a sequel will be put into production that will follow Asumi's exploits after the end of the graphic novel (included in one of the current DLC packs).

Soundtrack & Game Update

Today we have updated the game with a lot of polishing, removing unnecessary features and fixing every bug we have been apprised of previously.

The game is now in it's most efficient form to prevent any lagging issues or slowdown within the game.

In addition we have re-ordered the soundtrack DLC so that the information represented within the Steam Music Player is fully up to date, showing all tracks in the correct order with the correct artist details.

We will continue to work on an update for the character creator to coincide with our sale offer and deluxe edition release next week.

Sale & Update Incoming

Greetings everyone, so over the past few weeks we have been working on a final update to the Sword of Asumi game, which we are aiming to release on the 16th March.

The update will polish up the graphics of the game, remove some superfluous options and cast aside some unnecessary coding to reduce the game size a little and make the game run more efficiently.

In addition we are aiming to simultaneously release an update to the soundtrack (so that it appears in the correct order in SteamPlayer and another update to the Character Creator to add some male characters.

All of which should go live on the 16th March.

To celebrate these updates the game will also be going on offer for the week of these final updates And we are launching a deluxe edition of the game that includes all of the DLC at a better rate. After these updates are released we will be focusing on the release of our next game...

Soundtrack now compatible with Steam

Hi everyone for those of you considering getting the soundtrack or already have it, I can now confirm that the soundtrack DLC was given an update a few moments ago (restarting steam will kick-start the update if you need it)

The new update to the Soundtrack DLC added the necessary additions so that the soundtrack can be played using Steams Music Player and will if you have purchased the DLC appear in your steam music player library.

In addition we have kept the zip file version of the soundtrack so that you can still copy that separately if you wish to.

Version 1.21 Stable

Hi everyone, thank you all for your updates, posts and reviews over the past couple of days since release, thanks to all of that we have fixed most of the major ending issues as well as some code errors and made the game a little easier to find the alternate routes.

In addition version 1.21 now includes a variety of text editing to remove the majority of in game grammar or spelling errors that have been cropping up as well.

We will now be working on re-incorporating the voice acting for Asumi into the game.

version 1.19

Hi all, more bug fixes because this is bug fix day.

This one fixed a variety of issues with the endings, for some reason not loading the correct ending, have altered the way the game determines the ending to be clearer to prevent the errors from appearing.

Also cleared out some old sections of the game from a very old version. Also a variety of additional grammar fixes.

Next update will probably be in about 4 hours or so.

Version 1.15

We have now posted another new update, this was posted instantly as soon as it was complete rather than waiting for more error posting as it includes a fix for a crash that occurs at the end of the game on one of the games ending routes.

This should fix the occasional bug on the keiji 'disable' route.

Other bug fixes in this are mostly grammar and spelling issues.

Thank you to everyone posting bugs and errors on AJTilley.com it really helps us quickly find the bugs so we can get the working as it should for everyone faster.
