Large DLC "Return to Palmyra" and Update 1.1.0.7
A large DLC called Return to Palmyra was released. A sizeable new campaign with new missions, new voice acting and music, new troops and vehicles. You can read the detailed description on the DLC's store page.
Due to the DLC's release we've updated the original game to version 1.1.0.7.
The main change is a reworked ally and enemy AI. They can now repair their vehicle if it's heavily damaged, as well as return to crew it after leaving it due to a fire. In certain circumstances they can also capture the vehicles you've abandoned, repair them and continue the fight using your tanks.
Also: all the new music tracks added in the DLC are available to the owners of the OST, free of charge.
Launching the Return to Palmyra DLC
To launch the DLC, you'll need to launch the game through the Steam library - in that case you will be a offered a choice between launching the DLC and the original. Other methods (such as launching the game from the Downloads screen or through an icon on the desktop) will not work.
Update 1.0.0.81
- A German translation is now available for the game!
- We've updated the PhysX version to a newer one, which should solve some of the issues that were related to it.
Update 1.0.0.59
- Solved an issue where the game wouldn't launch without a mouse or a scrollwheel on the mouse. This can help on some laptops where the touchpad was being incorrectly recognised by the game.
- Fixed minor scripting errors in the fourth and sixth missions.
Update 1.0.0.43
- easy difficulty added: compared to normal difficulty more command points are given and you can bring more infantry and vehicles on missions;
- package structure reworked to make further updates easier;
- the audio library was replaced in order to improve stability and fix a problem with launching the game;
- an additional Microsoft Visual C++ component (VCredist) is now being installed in order to fix a problem with launching the game on some hardware;
- minor fixes in the 4th mission scripts.
We are working on the first large DLC
Dear friends, we're happy to announce that Cats Who Play is working on the first large expansion to "Syrian Warfare", titled "Syrian Warfare: Return to Palmyra".
A new single-player campaign, as you might infer from the title, will be focused on the dramatic events between December 2016 and March 2017, when the ancient city was once again captured by the terrorists, and an imminent threat loomed – the enemy could now quickly advance into territories controlled by the government, with access to large cities. However, thanks to the tenacity of the Syrian army and its allies, including the Russian air forces, the opponent's advance was halted and then turned back.
The plot will focus around a detachment of the elite Syrian unit Tiger Forces. Despite being caught flat-footed by Daesh's sudden assault, they defended their positions on Palmyra's outskirts to the end, got surrounded and fought their way to the T4 air base, where they had a big role in the defense of the air base and the following retaking of Palmyra.
The player will have control over new squad types (including, as mentioned, Tiger Forces squads); Lebanese volunteers; and the forces of the 5th Legion, freshly formed with the help of Russia.
The game's arsenal will be expanded with new weapons: mounted grenade launchers, recoilless guns (both infantry variants and mounted on technicals), high-caliber heavy machineguns. The game's tank park will have new modifications of the T-55 and T-62 tanks in store. The air forces will see the additions of the Russian Ka-52 "Alligator" helicopter, Syrian "Gazelle" light attack/scouting helicopter and remote-controlled drones.
The terrorists will also have weapons previously unseen in the game: American Humvees captured from the Iraqi military, anti-tank TOW missiles, heavily-armored VBIEDs, quadcopters.
The game's mechanics will also be refined, including the dissatisfactory pathfinding algorithm.
The "Syrian Warfare: Return to Palmyra" expansion's release is planned for the end of summer 2017. It will require the base game "Syrian Warfare" to run.

The return and the 1.0.0.23 update
