Happy new year! Upcoming new mode intro

Hi cowboys,
Wish you all have a great new year.
Today I'm going to introduce the upcoming new mode: Endless Mode
(or Sandbox Mode, I haven't decided the name yet)

In this mode, you play the game in a much bigger map than other mode. It contains few towns.
In the beginning, the map will randomly generate some fighting areas. Once you step into that area, a new fighting start. After you cleaned some areas, the system will create more new area to fill the map.



See that blue circle there, it is a fighting area.
Also, since this map is much bigger than the other mode. You don't want to waste time on running the map. As you might have noticed, I add the rider system into this mode.
(How could a wild west game without riding)
Ps: you can only ride the horse for running the map for now, the rider fighting system has not been added yet.

Unlike other mode, this mode you don't have infinite bullets. The enemies will drop them and also other items.


You can easily tell what these items are. For example, in this mode you will not be able to regenerate automatically, you need to collect health item to regain the health.
The mode will have an independent steam leaderboard, but your upgrades in the camp will still be applied in this mode.

That's it. Hope you will like this new mode. It should be able to play within two weeks. Also, more levels and maps will be added into Quick Mode and Story Mode in the future update.

After receiving two days of feedback, I fixed and adjusted some of the features.
This update is mainly to fix the existing problems and adjust the balance of the game.

Adjustment:

Weapon: (The main adjustment goal is to make each gun useful, instead of sniper world)
Increase pistol damage
Increase Thompson damage
Reduce the recoil of the Thompson
Increase shotgun damage
Reduce shotgun shooting range
Reduce sniper damage

Other:
Increase player health recovery speed
Adjust the quick mode start animation speed
Reduce shooting bullet sound in the quick mode
Raise the price of snipers in bounty hunters
Significantly reduce the enemy's time to track players, now as long as you hide well, some of the enemy will give up looking for you.
Adjust part of the map terrain
Add a description of the grenade in the tutorial

The following issues have been fixed:

After completing the game and uploading the score, player can restart by not cost the bounty hunter again.
The cursor occasionally hides after the game is over
After the player dies, the bounty hunter kills the enemy and still shows victory.
Some walls and doors don't have collision
The window changes back to the full screen when start a game.
Choosing a enter point in the quick mode sometimes get stuck.
Bullet shot particle display does not correspond to actual shooting effect
The 2nd level of story mode don't have sniper scope.
Part of the maps computer path finding out of range
Quick mode setting difficulty and wave, etc. directly return to the scene, resulting in no data reset

New Content Added:

Increase the ally outline, now the friendly will display a green outline to facilitate identification of the enemy
Quick mode adds a reset button
Add end animation for 2nd level of story mode
Increase the automatic pop-up function of the tutorial, the first time you run the game will pop up the tutorial

This update has not yet implemented all feedback, and some of the feedback added to the plan will be implemented in the next update. More new content will be added in the next update.

Before your purchasing

Hi cowboys,
I'd like to thank for your interest for this game.
Here just want to tell more about this game before you decide to buy it.

Currently, the game only finished about 30% contents for the whole plan. The Quick Mode is the main mode playable. Story mode and Mini-games mode still need months development to finish.
And this game is also my first game on steam. Which means it might contains few bugs due to lack of experience (like I forgot to test different resolution in the beginning).

If you are considering buy a very polished and fully content game, this game is not ready yet. You can add it in the Wishlist and check it few months later.

If you would like to be a part of game development and see your idea implement into this game, this is a great time to buy it because I really wish to hear more feedback to improve the game.

Releasing date and the future update plan

Hi cowboys,
After months developments, the game is going to release.
The releasing date is Dec.25.

For now, the game mainly finished Quick Mode. The Story Mode and the Mini-games Mode still needs many future developments.
Since the game is still in EA stage, you might meet bugs. If you did, please tell me. I'd fix them as soon as possible, you can leave message on the discussion board.

Next let's talk about future update plan. First, I'd like to say although I'm the only dev who is developing this game right now, I'm a guy who take making games as my life time career. Any game I release on Steam, including this game, will be updated for a long time. You can expect new content update even after buying the game for years.

Here is my to do list of updates:
Quick Mode: Add more maps
Story Mode: Polish the animation between levels, add boss fight, and complete the story line.
Mini-games: western duel monopoly, chicken tonight.
Other:
1. New mode (maybe a roguelike survival mode, not decided yet)
2. Add Steam achievements after the content is relatively complete.

I used to plan to add leaderboard after releasing, but now it will be supported in the first release. Don't worry the ranking data will be reset on the release date.

Game mode intro: Story mode


Hello cowboys,
It's time to introduce the story mode. As the name implies, this mode contains a little storytelling. I'm not a fan of movie-like storytelling and writing dialogue also is not what I'm good at. So how can I make the storytelling in a simply but nice way?

I got the idea from some Nintendo games. When I played Pokémon, the NPC would pop out an exclamation point to notice me they need help, the question mark pops out would means they might have some questions. In this way, I try to make the story with simple icons plus animation. Hope the result would satisfy you. The story would not take your long time, after all, easy and simple is the core style of the game.



After sharing the telling style. Let me intro our boss: Cooper brothers. The older brother runs a cigar company, the younger runs a mining business. Both are arrogant and domineering, hire people run amok in the area. You need to defeat both brothers and destroy their dens. If you like to know more stories, welcome to the game and try it.



The two portraits above are theirs. On the EA stage, I have finished 1/3 story contents. You can tell from the story road map.



Overall, I make this mode to fill more playable contents in the game, so if you tired about quick mode, maybe you can try this one. Next time I will talk about the mini-games.

Game mode intro: Quick Mode

Starting from today, I will post some dev blogs to introduce contents of the game and what I have added recently.
For now, the game has three modes: Quick mode, Story mode and the mini-games mode. First please let me intro the quick mode.


As I said in the store page, the inspiration for making the "Take That" is I want to play a shooting game without so many complicated processes or storytelling. Some online shooting games such as CS don't have such things, but pvp sometimes can be very frustrating.
Here comes out this quick mode fit my goal.

Features of quick mode


  • It can be started within seconds
  • Three difficulties for each map
  • Maximum 5 extra waves
  • Three enter-points can be chosen
  • Hire bounty hunters to help you


For each enter-point, you can arrange up to three bounty hunters.
After earning some rewards, you can go to camps to hire them.

They use different types of weapon and have different characteristics.
If you just need someone to attract attention and block the bullet for you, the gambler would be a nice choice. If you need a real shooter, hire the snipers, they are very deadly.
(price for hiring each type could be changed, the balance is still in testing)

You might notice there is also an Upgrade button in the screenshot, basically, it's another place you can spend your money on camps, you can upgrade some basic abilities there. I will intro more detail about that in the feature.

Overall, I try to make this mode can be started very quickly, but also interesting. Next time I will talk about the story mode.

About the game release delay

Thanks for your interest in this game.

Since opening the store page in August, I have tried to polish the game over the past two months. Although it has been going well so far, when I try to play my game with a truly player’s mindset, I find that the game really lacks playable content. (although adding mini-games can barely fill the content)

In the beginning, I just want to make a shooting game can be play at any time. But think about it, if there is nothing more than just shooting, then dose my game has a similar cool feeling like “DOOM”? Of course not.

Further thinking, although several levels have been created, there is no any different between each level expect terrain and buildings.

I was still hesitant. I felt that although there was not much content, after all, it was the EA stage. I can continue to develop after the game release. Recently a brother’s message helps me made decision. “games like this are dying quickly. I've played around 2/3 games that were looking the same as this game and they died in less than 1/2 weeks.”

I decided to postpone the game's release time. During this time, I will add more content to the game and adjusted the levels so that each level has its own characteristics and make sure there are more playable content before it is released.
In the future, I will also post articles to introduce the playable content of the game.
