Waiting on the Steam Build review

Cross posting from: https://bouncyrock.com/news/articles/waiting-on-the-steam-build-review

Hi everyone, the release is almost upon us, and one of the last things we are now waiting on is the Steam Build review.

On Sunday, our initial application to get TaleSpire approved for release failed, coming back with notes on things we needed to address. We had a new application out within 12 hours addressing all the raised issues, and we are now waiting on the word from Steam.

We did have the initial application submitted in the specified time frame, but we lacked knowledge about the Steam Review Process and what exactly it entailed. Let's hope that isn't about to bite us.

We are still hopeful that all will be well, but as release time draws near, we felt the need to let you know that there is a chance that the review will not be completed in time.

We are crossing our digits and hoping that the review passes and that we're able to release on time. It looks like it will be a nailbiting twenty-four hours.

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 8

In this patch, we did the following:

  • Fixed two crash bugs in copy/paste
  • Fixed a bug causing creatures to vertically shift into the wrong location on intersection with tiles/props
  • Improved the performance of boards with lots of creatures

TaleSpire Backend Patch

NOTE: This patch was applied to the backend and, as such, there is no new update in Steam for you to download.

Until now, there has been a nasty bug that affected published boards once they are imported into a campaign. If the state of objects (doors, chests, etc) were changed, but no tiles were added, moved, or removed, an entire region of the board could be lost.

With this fix, published boards are safe to use again.

If you have a board damaged by this bug, that copy of the board is not recoverable, but you can reimport the board from the published URL to recover the entire board.

Thanks to everyone who has been beta testing that feature and reporting the issues they found. It was instrumental in helping us reproduce, and ultimately tracking down, this bug.

On to the next bug!

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 7

This patch fixes a bug where, on some boards, people joining an ongoing session would get an error and not be able to join.

More bug fixes are already in the works, but this one felt worth rushing out.

Thanks to the community for sharing their discoveries via excellent slabs and published boards. It has helped us find things that have eluded discovery for months.

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 6

Here is today's Patch with bug fixes.

Note: Because of having to rebuild the asset packs this patch is bigger than usual.

  • Fixed the duplicate chat messages
  • Improved culling
  • Upgrade no longer getting stuck on invalid boards
  • Fix bug causing some props to error and not be pick-able
  • Fix bug causing large boards to cause physics errors on load
  • Fixed where the radial menu would be difficult to open, especially on Small Creatures
  • Did another pass on the tutorials
  • Fixed animations not finishing (was causing doors to stay ajar)

More to come as the Early Access approaches.

Till next Patch!

Bug Fix Patch 5

Recently we disabled the downgrader due to a bug in the upgrader, which was causing some boards to end up empty. We've fixed this bug in the cases we have been able to test, so we have enabled the downgrader again.

If you have boards made empty by the upgrade, please run the downgrade and re-upgrade them to restore them.

As before, the downgrade will revert all boards from back to their state before the release of Chimera. If you created a board after the release of Chimera, it will be unaffected.

This patch also fixes the bug where, if a board crosses a certain number of lights, all the lights go dark.

See you all in the next patch!

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 4

In light of reports on downgrading boards not working as intended, we've temporarily removed the campaign list's downgrade button. It will come back within the next few days after these new issues have been resolved.

There are also a few UI/UX related fixes:

  • Fixed so UIExpand (Spacebar) remembers if Library was open.
  • Added 90 Degree rotation to props. (this rotates 90degrees from the current rotation)
  • Made it possible to Sample Gird height using Left-Click while holding Right-Click without picking up tiles.
  • Added a keyboard key for sampling grid as well, currently sampled to "H" and is available to rebind.
  • Added key for binding for Build light, moved it from "L" to "K" to not overlap with the flashlight.
  • Food items are no longer embedded in the prop tables.
  • Flipped chairs and tables props are now actually flipped.

Thanks for all the reported bugs! We are working hard on sorting them out.

Till next time!

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 3

UPDATE: The downgrade button has been removed temporarily because of some newfound issues. It will reappear within the next few days as problems get sorted out.

Heya folks,

In this patch, we focus on hide-volumes that went missing during the upgrade to Chimera.

We fixed the bug that caused them to be lost, however, we also wanted to restore them for folks who already upgraded.

To that end, we have added a temporary downgrade button to the campaign panel in the main menu.

If you use it, it will downgrade the boards in the campaign to the state they were in before Chimera. You can then re-upgrade the campaign to regain access, and if all goes well, your hide-volumes.

Any boards in the campaign the were created after the Chimera update should be unchanged.

Please note, this is not a panacea for all issues. As of today, it is really is only useful for restoring hide-volumes. However, we will let you know if that changes.

We have also temporarily disabled the duplicate board button as that is currently broken. For now, please use the board publishing panel instead.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Plenty more fixes coming next week.

TaleSpire Bug Fix Patch 2

Hi everyone.

We are back again with another bugfix patch. This one fixes up a very prevalent crash when loading boards.

The issue was due to mistakes in the deserialization of scripted assets. That's pretty vague, but the specifics are long and tedious :P

Hope this helps some of you out there.

See you in the next patch.
