Survivor Diary #4: Trying to Survive

Survivors, it's time to continue the story of the Exodus discovered at the Base Archive. Forced to leave the land many refugees tried to group in the floating boat settlements. However, since no one came to rescue, they became short on food and medical supplies very quickly. And we all know that hungry, thirsty and sick people are not the greatest company...

“I was alone again. No food, no water, no hope for survival… The only company I had was a scorching sun, salty and careless ocean, and my own thoughts. I kept remembering everything that happened for the past few weeks. Everyone and everything I have lost, the short transformation of civilized people into animals, all the suffering and hopelessness…

Once in a while I was lucky enough to find something in the waters: the remains of crashed aircraft, other ships... and dead bodies. I scavenged everything I could — bottled water, junk food… thank god I still was able to avoid eating other people. And we all know how it goes: you try it once and you will never stay the same... I was constantly hungry, thirsty, and desperate. For some reason, I still refused to give up. How long I will be able to resist the comforting thoughts to end it all?”

Working on Your Skills

Survivors, even though "ichtii" diving suits are a vital part of any Base resident, you still need to be skillful enough to operate them effectively. The further and deeper you venture into the ocean depths, the more experience and resources you want to get, the more trained your body needs to be. Thankfully, due to the advanced technology that was originally developed for space, this process became relatively easy. Come, let me show you our lab!

Operated by a seasoned chief medical officer who refers to herself simply as "Nurse", it's one of the most popular facilities at the Base. Well, after Docks and Pub, of course. Here for a small fee, everyone in need is able to get rid of radiation poisoning and subject themselves to a number of quick enhancements.

Generally, there are 4 attributes that can be improved at the Medlab:

  • Strength (the basic amount of damage that can be made per one attack; can be increased with the help of melee/ranged module);

  • Agility (your overall ability to effectively maneuver while wearing an "ichti" suit; increases the chance to hide from hostile non-human life forms outside the Base);

  • Accuracy (decreases the chance to miss your targets while using ranged weapons);

  • Social Skills (a non-combat attribute that makes other people like you more and give you discounts in the Shop and Medlab itself).

The other popular service at the lab is plastic surgery. Sometimes it's really hard to keep your face on while fighting your way through the hordes of the bloodthirsty mutated monsters. Other Base dwellers just want to start from scratch and leave their past behind.

You can also change your sex, the color of your hair and skin. Obviously, this complicated procedure requires some serious investments and might hit your pocket. But is there a price for happiness, inner peace, & a good look? Don't think so!

Survivor Diary #3: Better Lonely then Dead

Survivors, the story continues with more diaries being recovered at the Base Archive. After fleeing from scorched land and trying to group with other refugees bitter consequences unveil themselves:

“The situation escalated quickly. Our improvised floating city got short on clean water really fast, and this is when all generosity and kindness got replaced with hatred and violence. Those who spared supplies yesterday were ready to kill today. Can’t blame them: sick, dehydrated, and hungry — they just tried to save their families and loved ones. I would do the same if I haven’t lost everyone I ever knew already...

The ones who still had the strength to leave took what they could and left this dying place. I packed what remained of my belongings and did the same. Not everyone was happy to let us go since we were their last chance to survive. Everyone was on their own now…”
