Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.69 WIN_EARLY

The main addition in this update is that the "Among The Stars" storyline is now fully implemented. It's not very long but it will enable you to find sources for various scans. Below is the technical changes list:


  • Fix Milox Leech going into interaction popup like it's a piloted Hunter when colliding because it's using the Hunter implementation instead of Leech.
  • Diner now extends from Bar (and DinerDefinition from BarDefinition) so Diners now have clientele like Bars.
  • Fix MMDead not drawing dead effect image in right location (slightly off center).
  • Multiple (in parallel) cannot-save reasons can now be added to the Player (preventing the Player from saving the game during a sequence during which it is too awkward to implement saving).
  • CaveDefinitions can now specify the exact coordinates of where to place Entrances to SubDungeons instead of just the region.
  • Planets can now define different river densities (amount of rivers) through EnvironmentDefinition.riverDensity(...).
  • UrbanClusteredSetDefinitions can now define UrbanLayers which are ringed bands around cluster-centers that are populated with Sites from different SiteSets. There are also other extra properties like centerUrbanFactorNormalDistribution, urbanFactorLowerBound etc. to aid in making these UrbanLayers look like you want to.
  • ZoneLayouts can now specify coordinates for where to place Entrances to SubDungeons.
  • OccupiedMap is now its own class instead of just a byte[][].
  • ZoneSetDefinitions can specify a String Index to use for the names of Places in that Zone.
  • BarDefinition can now specify the chance of clientele being drunk and the maximum number of clientele at the Bar.
  • DinerDefinition now extends BarDefinition and Diners now can also have clientele just like Bars.
  • HiddenInteractiveSites can now have no NPC (by setting HiddenInteractiveSiteDefinition.npcPicker(null)).
  • InteractiveSiteDefinition can now have npcPicker set to null.
  • Fix ItemRemover Items show 'uses' bit twice in description.
  • StarScanner Item now also notifies its StarScannerListeneers when it is incremented (uses) not just when it is added.
  • Turned the part of Galaxy.unassignedHabitableSystem(...) where an Unhabitable StarSystem is returned (if no appropriate Habitable one could be found) into a separate method 'unhabitableSystem(...)' so that it can be used by SetupPlugins (Ahrasa System setup uses this).
  • Traffic.update(...) now has parameters 'run_mob_mode' and 'check_collisions' so that MobModes can call on the default update more easily and can specify whether they want collisions to be processed or not. 'defaultUpdate()' used to be used by MobModes; this sets the MobMode temporarilly to null and then calls regular update to get the default behavior. However this can be confusing because other code checking the MobMode of the Mob during that time will wrongly conclude that no MobMode is set. Now defaultUpdate(...) simply calls update with run_mob_mode=false.
  • MMPLanetaryDeparture can be set to not despawn the mob if the Player doesn't enter the StarSystem Map soon enough after it does. This way a MobMode using MMPlanetaryDeparture can have the Mob wait for the Player to finish their departure.
  • MMPLanetaryDescent MobMode to allow mobs to descent to Planets.
  • Fix NarrativeUI fade-in not working correctly because it was also always applying fade-out.
  • MMLand MobMode that flies Mob to a point in the current Zone and 'lands' them there.
  • Fix MapInformation doesn't show route to Dungeon Entrance leading to destination or route to Dungeon Exit when the destination is in a higher level Dungeon or on the Habitat surface/top-level.

Patch TAXINAUT version 0.8.65 WIN_EARLY

Another small patch that fixes a number of things that were annoying me during my play-throughs:


  • Fix Milox has too much health.
  • Fix undiscovered but known planets show in the directory with full planet icon instead of just triangle indicator making it look like some kind of bug where you've discovered a planet but it still doesn't show on the minimap.
  • Fix 'laser beam' always spawning security.
  • Firing ship-weapons now only alerts security if there's security nearby.
  • Fix possible bug when calling StoreItem.retrieve(...) because it possibly called store(...) on the repo Item instead.
  • Fix possibility to store item uses from mods at home and in containers making it possible to farm item uses.
  • Tickets now show how much time you have left to pay them until they change into a fine.
  • If the Player gets a ticket while in a zone with a traffic authority for that ticket then one traffic authority in that zone becomes known (so that when the Player clicks on the ticket it will be less likely that it can't set the destination to a traffic authority because the player doesn't know any).
  • Fix warp speed too slow when traveling by galactic liner.
  • Manual now has a small section on laws, tickets, fines, judgements and traffic-control.
  • Fix annoying call-out bulletins opening the call-out details again when you click them to just remove them. Call-out bulletins are now removed if the call-out is removed (e.g. when it expires) or when its details are viewed.
  • Call-out 'lost' bulletin now only shows when the call-out expires or the player leaves the system.
  • Buying an Item at a shop no longer does the animation that locks you out of clicking to buy again while the animation is going. So you can now buy Items as fast as you can click.
  • Fix 'BACK' button shows at every Site (even on top pane) after loading game from for example your home store (where the 'BACK' button would have been showing).
  • Fix when warping to the system you're already in (e.g. when using a 'starburst' some things might wrongly still trigger as if you're just entering the system (e.g. you get a 'welcome to taxi-company' bulletin.


Probably next still finishing the "among the stars" storyline.

Patch TAXINAUT version 0.8.64 WIN_EARLY

Another tiny patch. This one fixes some spelling errors and makes basic scans available at Catalogs.

Patch TAXINAUT version 0.8.63 WIN_EARLY

A small patch that adjusts the prices on 'Laser' and 'Gun', and reduces the cooldown time on 'Laser Beam' (ship weapon). Also changed mentions of my email address (in things like the manual text etc.) to my new mosgrom email address: mosgrom1@gmail.com


The EULA has also changed to accommodate modding of TAXINAUT.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.62 WIN_EARLY

It's been a while (I was on vacation, visited family etc.) but here's a new update. The main thing is that you now have a better way of getting weapons. You'll need to find a weapon dealer (e.g. through the "Washing away the scum" storyline and ask them about "better weapons".

Here's a list of the changes:


  • 'laser beam' and 'gatling gun' cost less.
  • 'boost iv' now has speed 3.5 (instead of 4) and 'boost v' has speed 4 (instead of 5) to make especially 'boost iv' less overpowered (you now will only be able to stay ahead of Hunters with that, not outrun them altogether.
  • New ways to obtain weapons.
  • Fix you can only have 1 'gatling gun'.
  • Fix mobs sometimes appear not to spawn because they spawn sitting still outside of visual range.
  • Fix 'Hounds of Nova' spawning wrong hunters.
  • Fix Narana shows up as regular passenger.
  • When meeting Narana (after meeting them the first time) at the Shop you don't have to wait until the time you're supposed to meet; the Shop keeper will have the 'narana' topic immediately (as soon as you know about Narana).
  • Fix can't renew membership when have Ships in storage but don't have a current Ship set.
  • There are now 2 possible star backgrounds while in space to make space a bit more varied (more to come).


Next I'll either work on clone storage and modding or finish the "Among the stars" and "Eldergrav" storylines.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.60 WIN_EARLY

You can now add mods to your ship at your home hangar (against increasing cost). Mods provide you with extra uses on an Item (like "anti-graviton charge") that are replenished for free every time you sleep at a motel or home.


  • Fix asking taxi-company HQ for nearest dispatch taking very long.
  • Ships can now have mods installed on them that add uses to items each time the Player sleeps.
  • Insurance credit that can be bought at garage to rebuy a ship that was lost when the player cycled.

Next I'm going to finish some of the unfinished storylines like "Eldergrav" and "Among the Stars".

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.58 WIN_EARLY

A couple of small fixes and you can now buy different ships at some garages. There aren't that many different ones yet but that will come in the future.


  • Fix when you revive in a system where the taxi-company is active you don't receive any call-outs until you re-enter the system or enter another system where the taxi-company is active.
  • Fix planetary departure sequence glitching sometimes (the glitchiness when departing from the edge of the map is still there).
  • Fix crash when asking other pilot about Item directions (e.g. storage-container). Thanks to Zachary!
  • Fix Heimgzung storyline doesn't progress beyond 'follow heimgzung' even after discovering the Pupalion.
  • Fix when asking taxi-company for nearest system they're active they don't always give the nearest system.
  • Ships can now be purchased from some Garages.

Next I'm working on the ability to customize your ships by adding item slots to it that refill a certain number of a chosen item everytime you sleep at a motel or recover at a home for free. So for example you can add a slot (costs VUDU) to give you 1 free anti-graviton charge everytime you sleep/recover or for more VUDU you can make it 2 free anti-graviton charges, etc.

Patch TAXINAUT version 0.8.56 WIN_EARLY

Another small patch which fixes some thing I noticed during my let's play.


  • Fix starburst sometimes doesn't work when you have a fare.
  • Fix taken callout suddenly shows as expired (while in actually it is still active and taken).
  • Fix "Being a Taxinaut" storyline (Moon-man) skips the stage about unlocking warp-jumps at the Covenant of Light after talking to Moon-man when you already have a warp-jump.
  • Fix crash when taking a pick-up fare on Aultac to the spaceport and getting checked by security.
  • Fix starport destination list doesn't automatically move to page with selected destination starport when picking a destination on the galaxy-map.
  • Fix zone-details sites grid doesn't show all sites on the zone (e.g. traffic authorities might be missing).

Patch TAXINAUT version 0.8.55 WIN_EARLY

Tiny patch that fixes the possibility that some key storyline planets don't have the name of the system they're in (which they should have) but instead another planet in this system has that name. The planets will still be there and although some dialog might refer to the wrong name the storyline objectives when clicked will still point to the right planet.

The bug is due to a recent change and will only rarely occur. The following games will NOT be affected or are now fixed:


  • New games (started with or after this patch).
  • Games started before the recent change (V0.8.41) that introduced the bug.
  • Save-games where the player hasn't ever heard of those planets yet.

Save-games from games started after that change where the player has already heard of the planet(s) in question will possibly still have the problem. To work around it just make sure to use the storyline objective (click it) to set your destination to the right planet. To fix it for all save-games would technically be very awkward and might possibly introduce other bugs or confusion. My apologies for this.

Possible affected planets are: Haion, Siddartha, Habat, Zaun, Aultac and Xenis (they might have another name).

Patch TAXINAUT version 0.8.53 WIN_EARLY

Another small patch in response to some issues that Luke brought up. Luke is the first that I know of to complete the full "Birdie" storyline. Congratulations Luke!


  • Put some story & comeback items, drinks, drugs and other things under their right item-filters (e.g. "clone" filter).
  • Fix various unique story NPCs showing up as random people when wild landing on Draun planets.
  • Fix "Gum Dealer" storyline not updating or completing.
  • Fix galaxy-map filter showing all recorded instances of selected sites instead of just those that are known.
  • Fix "Access to ARAN space" storyline doesn't advance in some cases.
  • Fix Player can still "GO' on Expressway or "DEPART" from SpacePort even when UI is locked (e.g. when passenger is giving guidance and a Dialog is open).
  • Certain story NPC when guiding player makes system where objective is known as soon as they give the player guidance to that system so that the player doesn't have to identify the system themselves (e.g. with an astro-scan).
  • Completed storyline objectives now can still be clicked to set destination to that objective.
  • Fix possible crash during "Hounds of Nova".
  • Fix Danwja doesn't have a voice sound.
  • Added Luke as a possible random passenger as a reward for being the first to complete "Birdie".

And some other things I can't really mention here because they're full of spoilers.
