Taxinaut

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.34 WIN_EARLY

Adds "Mob density" and "Limit mob density" settings you can use to reduce the overall number of mobs you encounter.

"Mob density" will scale the number of mobs to the percentage set there. So if you set it to 50% then all zones will only have 50% of the mobs they have by default.

"Limit mob density" sets the maximum number of mobs you encounter in any zone. So if you set it to 50% then those zones that have mob-densities over 50% will be set to 50% (zones that are already below 50% will by unchanged and remain as they are by default).

Normally (when it's just some zones that you think have too many mobs) you will want to use "Limit mob density" but you can use "Mob density" to just make the overall game lighter on mobs.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.33 WIN_EARLY

This update should make it easier to make vudu using your taxi-company membership and make it more feasible to carry weapons and drugs.

  • Fix things like being on fire not removed when cycling.
  • "LAND" item can now also trigger descent to Planet (Luke).
  • Storage containers are now consumables (1 use per one you buy) but are a lot cheaper.
  • Item stashed in a storage container are now not lost upon cycling (you can fly to your container and pick them up after cycling).
  • Callout surcharge is now 4000.
  • Callouts occur more regularly.
  • When contacting Taxi Company HQ you can ask where the nearest dispatch is.
  • Taxi Company Dispatches now sell warp-jumps and anti-grav charges at half price to members.
  • Taxi Company Dispatches now provide free 'damage patch' to members.
  • Fix Callouts aren't scheduled when Player renews membership while in system where that taxi company is active.
  • The chance of a random check by security is now lower.
  • When caught with illegal items during a security-check the player now doesn't get a ticket or fine anymore but the items are still confiscated. However, if the player is caught during a customs-check and they didn't declare their illegal Items they still get a ticket.
  • Warp jumps now all travel 10 times as fast.
  • Warp jumps, scanners, anti-grav charge and basic weapons all had their prices adjusted. Some are more expensive others cheaper. In particular 'warp-jump cat iii' is now more expensive.
  • Prices of items at the home store are now 25% of base-price instead of 33%.
  • Expressway speed is now double what it was.
  • Fix some possible crashes.
  • Fix morula not removed on cycling.
  • Base price for night vision is now 60 (0.03D).

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.31 WIN_EARLY

Quick patch for a crash when clicking on a star in the galaxy-map when it's your first time running TAXINAUT.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.30 WIN_EARLY

Sorry, quick patch on top of today's 0.8.29.

This fixes something pretty serious I didn't notice before that makes it impossible to click the TAKE or PASS button on a passenger pickup when you're using the large (18pt) text size option.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.29 WIN_EARLY

Very small patch that fixes some minor bugs:

  • Fix possible crash when clicking "Carmino Reference" item.
  • Fix manual missing section about new "Text size" setting.
  • Fix focus placed on "back" filter item when clicking any filter item (even if focus system is off).
  • Fix transporter boarding UI has no focus navigation.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.27 WIN_EARLY

Adds possibility to select on of 3 text sizes:

  • 14pt (the original/default size).
  • 16pt
  • 18pt

Not everything is sized larger when choosing one of the bigger sizes. Things like titles etc. that were already larger stay the same size and a few labels here and there stay small but the most common things like the dialogs, buttons, hover-help, etc. will all have larger text.

I've probably missed a good few instances where text doesn't fit or gets cut off or something. Just let me know if you see something like that and I'll fix it.

I hope this together with the recent controller support will make TAXINAUT a lot more playable on things like a Steam deck. Next I will be working on adding some more storyline to get some more advanced weapons etc.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.26 WIN_EARLY

Fixes a possible crash on start screen among some other things.

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.25 WIN_EARLY

It took a while 'cause there's a lot of unforeseen detail in it (like I had to adjust the tutorial etc.) but this one has a lot more support for controllers or keyboard. You'll need a controller which can be mapped to keyboard keys (e.g. through Steam) and has a thumbstick that can control the mouse. For more details see:

http://www.mosgrom.net/taxinaut/manual.html#usingcontrollersorthekeyboard

This patches also fixes a bug that made it very hard to progress in the storyline involving "Heimgzung".

Update TAXINAUT version 0.8.24 WIN_EARLY

Another collection of small bug-fixes and adjustments.

  • Fix possible crash when opening SystemDetails (Thanks to Bai).
  • Fix 'being a taxinaut' also completes when you rent a home after talking to Vietnam (Thanks to Luke).
  • Buying directions to a Planet/Station from Information now also gives knowledge about it so you can see its ZoneDetails and its place on the system mini-map will have an appropriate icon (instead of still a triangle). (Thanks to Bai).
  • Buying directions to a Planet/Station from NPCs has a small chance to do the same as above when buying them from Information. (Thanks to Bai).
  • Fixed fare (long distance passenger) now has it possible for the Player to sleep at a motel. (Thanks to Bai).
  • 'Stop when landing' setting that when 'ON' will make it so that when you takeoff you don't immediately move off at the speed you landed at. (Thanks to Atova).
  • Hopefully softened the quack voice a bit. (Thanks to DJ Dostoevsky).
  • Fix can't get out of cloud dialog (residence Dialog) on bought Homes. (Thanks to Brian).
  • Added clause to EULA for people donating content.

Next I will be looking at making the game possibly more friendly to gamepads etc. Can't promise anything yet but that's what I will be spending coming week on.
