Pirate City showcase: building the city of your dreams
Ahoy, pirates! We have recently announced the Pirate City DLC, and we plan to share the details regarding its most prominent features over the coming weeks. Today, we will go over the ability to build and develop your own settlement and become the richest and most famous captain of them all!
What does it take to be a governor?
Generally, your city will have 3 stages of development, and as a promising governor, you get to control a simple settlement first (stage 0). This will net you a warehouse where you can store all of the goods that your beloved ship couldn’t contain. To progress to the next stage, you will have to make a certain financial investment and complete a few quests.
Get ready to provide your new home with proper protection, do favors for fellow traders (generous rewards included), search for missing people that got themselves in serious trouble, fight hideous sea monsters and punish thieves among your crew. Sounds like some great adventures are waiting for you, captain!
With each new stage, your city will get bigger: new taverns and shops will unlock, giving you access to more experienced crew members for hire, as well as valuable goods that you can acquire. Eventually, your fame as a city leader will expand so much that some sailors would be honored to work on your vessel absolutely for free!

Announcing the Pirate City DLC + new update
Ahoy, fellow pirates! We’ve got some great news for everyone who already roves the seas of Tempest or was looking for a perfect opportunity to join our crew. A long-awaited expansion, the Pirate City DLC, is going to be released soon on Steam along with the basic game getting an update. So, what shiny new treasures should you expect?
New mechanics are coming
First of all, Pirate City adds one of the highly requested features: an ability to build and develop your own settlement. By being a thoughtful governor you will be able to turn a simple village into a thriving city... and get quite a few new quests! https://youtu.be/eUHPIJHkvGE Other than that, you will be able to buy a share in any shop no matter where it is located. This will certainly improve your financial situation so you can invest even more funds in your own city and make your neighbors envious of your success!
Players can also expect a brand new sinister looking ship that goes under the name of Grim Reaper and can be decorated with 4 extra figureheads: wolf, tiger, bear and lion. Here’s a teaser of the brig in action, which is available for boarding and capturing (but only the bravest may dare — the crew of this ship is a bit... unusual):
We are also introducing a land based battle arena that will be located near your city, so you can test your captain’s melee fighting skills against skeletons and pirate zombies. Yes, we said PIRATE ZOMBIES =)
Enter the arena, pick a weapon of choice and get ready to rumble! The more waves of enemies you can survive, the bigger the reward! New achievements included ;)
The Base game (Tempest) gets an update
Along with the release of the Pirate City DLC, the base game will also feature a general overhaul including an updated tutorial, improved water physics and some updates to visuals. Plus, quite a few bugs were sent to walk the plank!

The new Tempest update is now available!
Ahoy, pirates! We’ve updated the current version of Tempest for Steam. The new version includes all the fixes we covered in the previous post, including a more stable save system and a ton of quest corrections that you pointed out in the Community Hub.
On top of that, we’d like to thank everyone who participated in our latest Tempest stream on August 23d! If you happened to miss the live broadcast, we’ve uploaded a video just for you.
